Concerned People Telling the World about Falun Gong and the Persecution in China: Clear Wisdom [Sunday, August 28, 2005 ]

(Clearwisdom.net) When we read the news on Clearwisdom.net that 16-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Yanpei had been arrested and sent to a forced brainwashing center in Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province, we started calling the Zhaoyuan City Public Security Bureau in Shandong Province. We were shocked when they told us, "We must also arrest children who practice Falun Gong because the government bans Falun Gong."

We made phone calls to the Zhaoyuan City Public Security Bureau on the morning of August 15, 2005. The following staff members/offices took our calls: the Bureau Chief, Mr. Cai Ping (86-535-8213899), people on duty at the Bureau Office (86-535-8213885) and staff members of the State Security Team. All of them claimed that they were unaware of the arrest.

We called the Captain of the State Security Team at 86-13506458909 and asked him, "Why must you arrest a 16-year-old girl?" He was silent for a while before he hung up on me.

We called again the next day on August 16. When we asked them the same question, the man on duty answered, "I am not sure. Hold on for a minute." Then he gave the phone to a woman. The woman replied, "There is a good reason why we arrested her. We must also arrest children who practice Falun Gong because the government bans Falun Gong." Then she hung up on us. When we called the office again, no one answered the call.

Apparently the police knew they had done something wrong because they tried to seal the information after they made the arrest. Then after we exposed the scandal, they refused to admit they had done something wrong. Moreover, they continue to imprison the young girl. We suggest that fellow practitioners in Zhaoyuan City thoroughly expose the facts of the persecution against Ms. Sun Yanpei, as well as the policemen involved in the persecution. It would be helpful if people could distribute the facts to every corner of the city. If people could obtain the involved policemen's home addresses, please post the flyers containing their wrongdoing on their doors and their neighbors' doors. Keep doing so until they release Ms. Sun unconditionally.

Meanwhile, we suggest that Falun Gong practitioners inside and outside of China keep sending strong righteous thoughts to transfer all the pain the authorities have caused Ms. Sun Yanpei to all of the involved policemen.

Brief Background about Sun Yanpei

Ms. Sun Yanpei is a young Falun Gong practitioner in Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province. She is 16 and a student at Zhaoyuan First High School in Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province. Her parents are both Falun Gong practitioners. Her father Mr. Sun Guo is currently incarcerated in the Shandong Province Prison and her mother Ms. Teng Yingfen has been homeless for four years in order to avoid being captured and tortured. Ms. Sun has been left at home without her parents' care. On August 12, 2005, the staff members from the local 610 Office arrested her at her school and sent her to a local forced brainwashing center. Ms. Sun has been on a hunger strike as a way to peacefully protest the persecution against her. Her health and life are at serious risk.

Falun Dafa Practitioner Ms. Niu Guilan from Changle County, Shandong Province Dies Unjustly

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Niu Guilan is from Changle County, Shandong Province. She was illegally detained over ten times and persecuted because she believes in Falun Gong. The severe persecution caused her health to deteriorate. Ms. Niu passed away on July 18, 2005.

Ms. Niu Guilan was an employee at the Auto Town Hospital of Changle County, Shandong Province. She learned Falun Dafa in 1997. Before she started practicing, Ms. Niu had diabetes, high blood pressure, and other physical problems. After she practiced Falun Gong for several months, all her diseases disappeared. She became very healthy and saved the country and her work unit from incurring huge expenses for her medical treatments. After she started practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Niu Guilan strictly followed the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. She was greatly admired by her co-workers in her work unit. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, former Auto Town Party Committee Secretary Yu Limin, current Secretary Gao Lide, as well as leaders in the hospital brutally persecuted Ms. Niu Guilan and another Falun Dafa practitioner.

From July 20, 1999 to the end of 2001, Ms. Niu Guilan was illegally detained over ten times.

The following is a summary of the persecution she suffered:

She was illegally detained for close to a month on July 20, 1999, and was fined 6,000 yuan.
She was detained in the hospital on April 25, 2001 for almost a month, and was fined 100 yuan.
She was first detained in the hospital for two days, and then sent to a detention center for 15 days, and fined 400 yuan.
She was detained in the hospital for ten days on October 1, 2001.
She was sent to Changle Forced Labor Camp to be brainwashed for two months in December 2001.

Under the high pressure and brutal persecution implemented by the CCP, Ms. Niu Guilan was forced to give up practicing Falun Dafa. Her health regressed to its former state and her illnesses returned. Specifically, after 2002 she often went into shock and was not very clear-minded. Her health continued to deteriorate. With the help of fellow Dafa practitioners, Ms. Niu resumed the practice in 2004 but was again forced by the CCP in April 2005 to quit. At the same time, she published her Solemn Declaration and declared that all her words and actions that did not comply to the standard of Falun Dafa were invalid. Due to the CCP's longstanding policy of terror, Ms. Niu's children were very frightened by the persecution. They tried to stop their mother from practicing Falun Gong and sent her to the Changle County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital many times. Eventually, Ms. Niu Guilan passed away on July 18, 2005.

More than One Hundred Practitioners from Qiqihar Arrested and Persecuted During the Past Three Months

(Clearwidsom.net) Since March 2005, more than 100 practitioners from Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province have been unlawfully arrested, and almost everyone has been persecuted with various torture methods such as the "Big hang up" (1). Two practitioners have been persecuted to death, many have been injured badly and disabled and are no longer able to work. Most of the persecuted practitioners are elderly. Some of them have been detained for several months and fined 3,000 - 5,000 yuan before they were released. At present, twenty-three practitioners are still detained at the No. 1 and No. 2 Detention Centers. They have all been physically tortured, some have broken bones and others have bleeding head wounds.

Before July 20 of this year, a special "work group" in charge of persecuting Falun Gong in Heilongjiang Province visited most of the area jails. Whenever a jail was visited by this special work group, the practitioners there were severely persecuted. Twenty-three practitioners detained at the detention center were directly persecuted by this special work group. Six of the practitioners did not cooperative with the persecutors during violent interrogation sessions. The persecutors could not finalize their cases, so they began again the process of collecting "evidence" using violence against the practitioners. An elderly practitioner, Ms. Liu, was tortured with the "big hang up" again. Her hands were cuffed behind her back and she was hung up three times with only her toes touching the ground.

Qiqihar City has been rampantly persecuting practitioners over the last several years. A lot of practitioners were unlawfully sentenced and sent to forced labor camps. At every department of all detention centers, forced labor camps, jails, and police stations, collecting "evidence" using violence, and forced brainwashing are commonly employed.

Tailai Prison is one of the biggest prisons in Qiqihar City. Many Dafa practitioners are detained there. In order to reach the quota of "transformation" of Dafa practitioners, the persecutors have tried all means to brutally torture practitioners. Besides that, they block all information, disapprove of practitioners meeting with family members, and appoint inmates to monitor the practitioners. When practitioners refuse to cooperate with the persecutors by not writing "transformation" declarations, the persecutors beat them severely. Practitioner Ms. Zheng Lianqing, who was detained at Team 3, Division 5, has been tortured fifteen times. Ms. Zheng's head was fractured by the division director, Wang Zhiling, and Zhang Weijia. On the coldest days of winter, Zheng Lianqing was hung outside for several hours. This disabled her hands, and she can no longer conduct daily activities. Practitioner Ms. Lu Yuping is detained at Division 1 and has been suffering greatly because she refuses to renounce Falun Dafa. Every time she practices the Falun Gong exercises, she receives a serious beating. The physical torture usually happens in the water house. Several times, Lu Yuping woke up long after having fallen unconscious, and she was almost killed once. Practitioner Mr. Liu Yinquan had to be sent to the hospital because of the torture, and he is now in critical condition.

Heilongjiang Province has always been at the forefront of the persecution of Falun Gong since the persecution began in 1999. The persecutors have tried all means and spent large sums of money, materials, and human resources to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Many practitioners are still unlawfully detained at the infamous Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp, the Fuyu Forced Labor Camp, Tailai Prison, Daqing Prison, Harbin Prison, Wanjia Forced Labor Camp and others. The torture methods used by the persecutors are brutal and shocking. A large number of practitioners have been unlawfully sentenced and sent to forced labor camps, and some practitioners have been tortured to death.

(1) "Big hang up" - There are two forms of this torture: 1) With both hands cuffed behind the back and only the toes touching the ground, one is hung by a rope that is tied to a metal window frame. 2) One hand of a practitioner is cuffed to one bunk bed and the other hand to another bed, and the two beds are pulled in the opposite directions. It is excruciatingly painful as the body is pulled.

Hebei Province's Fourth Prison Abuses Dafa Practitioners Inhumanely

(Clearwisdom.net) The Fourth Prison of Hebei Province claims to be a model prison, but in reality it is an extraordinarily dark place, and it is one of the largest institutions that persecutes Falun Gong practitioners. Education Division prison guard Zhang Zhonglin is the person in charge who carries out forced brainwashing of practitioners. He is so ruthless that even other prison guards believe that Zhang Zhonglin is a wicked person.

Torture and cursing are a part of everyday life, and prisoners who were convicted of murder, rape, and robbery are the accomplices of the prison guards. The prison guards order them to monitor Dafa practitioners closely and arbitrarily abuse them. The Education Division's "Task Force," organized to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners, was made up of prisoners who have been convicted of felonies. The prison guards and the prisoners work together trying to force Dafa practitioners to give up their belief, by severely abusing and torturing them. If they succeed, the prison guards receive a bonus and the prisoners receive reduced prison terms. Some prisoners were asked to help but later quit because they couldn't handle the cruelty and the bloodiness. They would rather serve their full sentences then perform those inhuman deeds. Consequently, the Education Division had to look for the most hardened and wicked prisoners to help.

The "Task Force" tortured Dafa practitioners by a method known as "Enduring Eagle," which is really prolonged sleep deprivation. The prison guards and the prisoners took turns watching Dafa practitioners to make sure they didn't fall asleep. They used a dry towel to rub practitioners' eyeballs if they fell asleep. They turned the benches upside down and forced Dafa practitioners to sit on the legs of the benches with their legs crossed. The entire body weight must be on the bench legs and no movement was allowed, or else the practitioners would face torture. Food was provided initially, but rationed soon after; then it was prohibited for practitioners to eat, drink and use the bathroom. Every day the practitioners were questioned and tortured and subjected to brainwashing with fake news clips. According to prisoners, people subjected to this torture would begin to discharge blood after 4 days, and experience mental collapse 5 days later.

The political head of the Third Team of the Fifth Prison Ward ordered prisoners Li Hua and Shi Chunsheng to take charge of Dafa practitioner Mr. Guo Zhengqing. The two prisoners abused Mr. Guo frequently. One day after returning from working in the field, Shi pushed Mr. Guo to the ground. Guo Zhengqing's right leg was seriously injured, and his right foot was deformed. He couldn't move and was carried back to his cell by others. Shi Chunsheng was delighted to see this. That evening, Guo Zhengqing went to the bathroom four times. Twice he went to the bathroom by sitting on the floor and moving inch by inch. The other two times, he crawled to the bathroom. Whenever Guo Zhengqing spoke, Li Hua would smack him with a foot long composite plank until the plank was covered with blood. Li Hua exclaimed, "It is the order of the division chief not to let Guo Zhengqing speak."

In March of 2003, the "Task Force" used the "Enduring Eagle" torture on Guo Zhengqing, and he was not allowed to sleep for eight consecutive days and nights. Together with other prisoners, Third Team political head Liu Rufeng brutally tortured Mr. Guo for three nights. Mr. Guo lost consciousness numerous times, and his face and limbs were deformed by the eighth day. Now Guo Zhengqing is disabled from the brutal torture, and his right leg is numb all the time.

In the Fourth Prison Ward, Dafa practitioner Zhang Weijin was forced to wear shackles while working in the field; in the Sixth Prison Ward, Dafa practitioner Wang Shujun's head was covered with wounds due to severe torture; in the Twelfth Prison Ward, Dafa practitioner Liu Weiji wrote a letter to the prison warden to report the evil acts of the "Transformation Class." The retaliation by his prison section was ruthless. He was tortured mercilessly in vulnerable areas such as acupuncture points and muscle tendons. Later Liu Weiji was put under "Strict Control," and was watched around the clock.

On February 28, 2003 in the Fifth Prison Ward, prison guards confined Dafa practitioner Liu Huimin to the reception room with the windows and door closed. Every day he was forced to sit on a bench for a long time and no movement was allowed. Zhang Dongsheng and Zheng Xiangqian, two former Falun Dafa practitioners who betrayed Dafa (collaborators), tried to brainwash him. Failing in their efforts, the two even asked prison guards to persecute Mr. Liu. Four prison guards threatened and intimidated him for two weeks, but they failed to "transform" him. They locked Liu Huimin in the stage studio, applied the "Enduring Eagle" torture and tortured him in other ways as well. Mr. Liu was not allowed to use the bathroom, not allowed to eat or drink, and not allowed to wear warm pants in winter. He had to wash his soiled pants and wear them wet. He also had to sit on the legs of a bench and not fall asleep. The prison guards used a dry towel to rub his eyeballs if he became sleepy. Prison guards Zhang Zhonglin and other thugs tortured Liu Huimin brutally. Mr. Liu's ribs were broken; and he almost died after a heavy punch to his testicles. Mr. Liu also lost his memory.

A prisoner recalled later that one evening, prison guard Zhang Zhonglin and his accomplices punched and kicked Liu Huimin frantically in a dim, small room. Mr. Liu was beaten down, and when he sat back up, he was beaten down again, and again until the prison guards were tired. The next morning, the guards found that Liu Huimin's coat and pants were soaked with blood and wanted to wash them. Mr. Liu refused. Zhang Zhonglin instructed a prisoner to punch Mr. Liu on his genitals. Liu Huimin instantly fell to the ground and was sweating all over his entire body. The thugs forcefully removed his clothes and took him to his cell. The next day he was forced to work in the field.

Dafa practitioner Liu Huimin was a First Lieutenant in the armed forces. He was forced to leave the army in November 1999 because he practiced Falun Dafa. In July 2000, the county police department illegally detained more than 40 Dafa practitioners who were working in the fields. In August 2, Liu Huimin went to the county appeals office to request the release of detained Dafa practitioners and to ask that the good name of Falun Dafa and Master Li be reinstated. Because of that, Mr. Liu was illegally sentenced to five years in prison and was imprisoned in Hebei's Fourth Prison (Shijiazhuang Northern Suburban Prison).

Over the last few years, the Hebei Province Fourth Prison "Education Division" committed massive crimes against Falun Gong practitioners. They put Falun Dafa practitioners in solitary confinement in the reception room or studio, and used "Enduring Eagle," a torture method recommended by the Provincial 610 Office, to forcefully "transform" Dafa practitioners. They have used different kinds of deadly tortures against practitioners, and some of the practitioners have almost lost their lives. The so-called "Group Study" was really a forced brainwashing class. In the class, slanderous propaganda and the fake video clips were played repeatedly. The brutality of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners is worse than the Cultural Revolution.

A few practitioners betrayed Falun Dafa and even helped the evil to persecute practitioners after being brainwashed by the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP's) propaganda. Most of the people, however, are clear-headed. Some of the kind-natured prisoners understood the truth of the persecution after seeing the madness of the evil. Under the influence of Dafa practitioners' righteous thoughts, righteous actions and compassion, some of the prisoners have awakened, and two of them have begun to practice Falun Dafa.

Falun Dafa Practitioners Brutally Persecuted in Lanzhou Prison

(Clearwisdom.net) In the past few years, more than one hundred Falun Dafa practitioners have been unlawfully detained in Lanzhou Prison. The majority of them were transferred to other prisons after a period of time, but about 30 male practitioners are currently suffering from lengthy persecution in Lanzhou Prison. Female Dafa practitioners are now detained in the women's prison. Below are some of the incidents that the male practitioners suffered under the persecution at Lanzhou Prison.

Persecution facts of Dafa practitioners with known names:

Mr. Li Wenming, 30 years old, was sentenced to 20 years in prison. He is now being persecuted severely in the No. Three Ward and is said to be on a hunger strike.

Mr. Wang Youjiang, 30 years old, was sentenced to 10 years. Due to torture, he now has a stiff back and needs a cane to walk. He is extremely weak and severely mentally traumatized.

Mr. Du Xin, over 30 years old, was sentenced to four years in prison. He was dragged to the "self-examination room" and brutally beaten by prisoners Cao Feng, Wei and others. They took him to the "Team," and forced him to write guarantees to promise to obey the prison regulations. After several months of forced labor Mr. Du was transferred to the Dingxi Prison for further abuse.

Mr. He Jianzhong, 40 years old, was sentenced to seven years in prison. He suffered torture in the confinement room, where he was forced to wear handcuffs, shackles and a prison uniform. After Mr. He stepped out of the confinement room he could not walk, and had to depend on someone or a cane for help. His hair has turned completely white.

Mr. Gao Feng is over 30 years old. He was sentenced to four years in prison for practicing the Falun Gong exercises. He was hung up on "the single bar" many times, handcuffed on an electric pole, and handcuffed in general for long periods of time. Mr. Gao constantly protested the illegal detention with hunger strikes. He was tortured with force-feeding and drug injections. Guards Wang Changlin, Liu Bincheng and others beat Mr. Gao cruelly with electric batons. The skin on his mouth, face, neck and head was swollen, blistered and festering from the beatings. Prisoner He Congshan often brutally beat Gao Feng. The prison police and the prisoners often conducted body and bed searches on him.

Mr. Guang Ziping, over 20 years old, was sentenced to a total of five five-year prison terms. He was brutally beaten by the police in the prison's Ward One. Mr. Guang was handcuffed to a metal door for a long time and he conducted a hunger strike in protest. Later, because he didn't cooperate with the forced labor, guard Yang Dongqiang dragged him to the confinement room by force. His back and limbs were scratched and his clothing was in disarray from the dragging. Mr. Guang was put into handcuffs and shackles, forced to wear the prison uniform, immobilized on a metal chair and force-fed for over twenty days. Furthermore, he was forced to write a guarantee note saying that he would participate in heavy labor after being released from the chair.

Mr. Jing Fashui, over 30 years old, was given a three-year sentence. The prison guards Wang Mingzhong, Liu Runyun, Wang Weihong, Kong and others forced him to watch Dafa-slandering videos repeatedly. They also forced him to write a guarantee statement in exchange for their promise that they would reduce his sentence. Mr. Jing was subjected to forced labor and made to write a guarantee statement monthly.

Mr. Wang Xiaodong, over 30 years old, was sentenced to eight years in prison. He did not cooperate with any of the persecutors' requests. He refused to wear the prison uniform, didn't "report," didn't say "here," didn't count off during the head count, didn't cooperate when ordered to squat, didn't shave his head and didn't answer the "exam" questions. Instead, Mr. Wang requested to practice the exercises. Guard He Liqing beat him savagely many times. Guards Wang Changlin, Zhao and others sent prisoners Zhao Hui, Cao Feng, Ma Ling and He Congshan to force him to wear the prison uniform and shave his head. They shaved his head, resulting in more than a dozen bloody cuts. During the day Mr. Wang was handcuffed onto a metal door; at night he was handcuffed to the bed frame. Prisoners Zhao Hui and Cao Feng beat Wang Xiaodong many times. Later, when he was locked in the confinement room, the guards and prisoners in the confinement room cruelly beat him. After he protested with a hunger strike, Mr. Wang was sent to a prison in the Jinchang District.

Mr. Mao Libing's sentence term is unknown. While he was incarcerated in a detention center and persecuted to the point of being extremely weak, the perpetrators sent him to Lanzhou Prison. Mr. Mao's family has no money. Knowing this, the police set him up. They sent him to a hospital and spent several thousand yuan to treat him. Then they used this incident as bait and forced him to write material against Dafa, "reformation" notices and words to thank the Chinese Communist Party for "saving him."

There are many people detained in Lanzhou Prison who have illnesses, but the prison authorities do not provide them with medical help. Their only purpose for "helping" Mr. Mao was to force him to go against his conscience.

Persecution information about Dafa practitioners whose names we do not know at present:

In the team for newcomers, a Dafa practitioner who refused to cooperate with the persecutors shouted, "Falun Gong will last forever!" The guards and a group of prisoners escorted him out with his head down. The practitioner called out all the way along, which shocked the evildoers and inspired the prisoners throughout the prison wards who heard him and praised him.

In the Ninth Prison Ward, a Dafa practitioner went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The guards and prisoners beat him ruthlessly, subjected him to sleep deprivation, force-fed him, and later forced him to perform heavy manual labor sewing footballs.

In the Eighth Prison Ward, a Dafa practitioner didn't cooperate with the guards when he first arrived, and suffered severe beatings. This practitioner was later forced to perform difficult physical labor, polishing precious gemstones. Every day the team needed to get up at 6:00 a.m. and they did not get off work until 11:00 p.m. This kind of labor is quite intense. In addition, because of the guards' viciousness, prisoners were frequently tortured and locked in solitary confinement. The environment is so vicious that some ordinary prisoners committed suicide to escape, while many others attempted to escape. Once, as a prisoner was being beaten to death by the guards, he called out "Save me!" The guards taunted him, saying, "We'll beat you to death; the maximum punishment we would ever get would be a three-year sentence with a fourth year on probation."

In Prison Ward One, the head, Yang Dong, deceived a Dafa practitioner by enticing him with a reduction in sentence and promising him a home visit as bait to force him to write a guarantee note and accept being "reformed".

In the Eleventh Prison Ward, the guards and prisoners cruelly beat an older Dafa practitioner and forbade him from sleeping. After several weeks of continuous monitoring and daily viewing of a video that slandered Dafa, he was eventually forced to write a guarantee statement to reform. He was in extremely weak health, and was still forced to do manual labor, living in extreme fear every moment.

In the Eighth Prison Ward, prison guard Liu Youren abused Dafa practitioners during training who didn't cooperate with the prison drills and did not call "password" on cue. The guards forcibly dragged the practitioners to an office and beat them ruthlessly with electric batons. Later, practitioners in another prison team prepared to discuss this unjust torture with Liu, who was scared of the power of righteous thoughts; therefore, he disappeared. At night, the prison held a secret meeting, fearing that this news would encourage the other Dafa practitioners. They decided to scatter the majority of the Dafa practitioners into different wards.

Once, when a detention center escorted eight practitioners to the prison, the prison guards started to confiscate a Dafa practitioner's book. Because the practitioner refused to release it, the prison guards beat him without remorse. The other Dafa practitioners then shouted, "Don't hit him!" Because there were people from other prison wards and prisoners who were visiting the doctor in the yard, many people were watching. One of the guards was scared of the attention and hurriedly called out, "Don't shout!" Later, he returned two of the Dafa practitioners and an older, weak Dafa practitioner to the detention center; the rest were kept in the prison.

The incidents listed above represent just a small fraction of the atrocities committed in the Lanzhou Prison. Similar incidents are happening daily during this persecution of Falun Dafa. Further details of these situations and the precise figures of how many practitioners have been grossly abused and traumatized are not yet known.

The Shijiazhuang City local government has illegally detained Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Hao Qiuyan for over half a year now. This is the truth. The local government has also illegally detained her husband, Mr. Huang Wei, who is also a Falun Gong practitioner. This is the second time the government detained him since 1999. During the past six years, Huang Wei has been detained for more than five years. It is also true that we don't see signs of anything changing.

This young couple both have college degrees. People who know them all speak very highly of them. When they met with me on separate occasions, they both showed calmness, self-possession, generosity, and faith in life, which made a long-lasting impression on me. From their conversation, it is obvious that they do not hold any hatred against society. When I talked to Huang Wei, his deep love for his family was so touching that I burst into tears. He told me that whenever he heard young kids playing on the other side of the tall wall where he was imprisoned, he would close his eyes and imagine being together with his wife and child. When he mentioned his parents and parents-in-law, he cried. He said he was sad because he couldn't devote his love to the parents, and because his and Hao Qiuyan's income was the only guarantee for a normal life for both families. Both their parents are old and weak, and have little income. He said that he would never understand what the government could gain by detaining them. He said: "Detaining us for a long period of time is a huge disaster for us and our families. As for the government, they can't gain any benefit at all. Not to mention that this detention violates the constitution and the basic principles of the law." He told me that both their parents had to suffer extreme hardships after he and his wife had been detained for no reason. The worst of all was that their parents were not in good physical condition and yet they had to take care of their young child!

To date in China, hundreds of thousands of Chinese citizens who practice Falun Gong have been detained and sentenced to long jail terms.

This February, in order to find out the truth, I went to some areas in Shandong Province and investigated the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong and the harming of these citizens. The reality is suffocating. The shocking reality is far beyond any human disaster, is offensive to God, and has no purpose. Once you get involved, you will genuinely feel and see the continuation of such a disaster. Shortly before we arrived at Yantai City, which looked beautiful from the outside, dozens of innocent Falun Gong practitioners from that area had been arrested and sentenced the authorities. The only reason for the arrests was that someone had published a list of names on the Internet of the local officers who had ruthlessly persecuted Falun Gong practitioners. The local authorities were extremely scared and felt they were facing a serious enemy. They used the excuse of "endangering the nation's security" in order to abduct practitioners on a large scale and for a long time. A group of innocent practitioners whom the authorities had determined as "refusing to accept the brainwashing" were again put into prison.

For Chinese citizens, especially for Chinese citizens who practice Falun Gong, their physical freedom and their lives are actually at a horrifying risk, to the extent that one cannot imagine. Whenever the authorities felt "unsafe," or some officers let their imagination run wild, practitioners would be faced with disaster. The history of the current Chinese government shows that whenever the authorities or one of the leaders feels insecure, they would regularly choose to abduct a group of "hostile forces" in order to "crush the instability in its budding stage," and thereby got rid of their fear. Whenever the authorities feel fear, they will arrest people. In China, the authorities experience lots of fear. As a result, most of the time, with the exception of a few days throughout the entire year, they constantly arrest people in an abusive manner.

What makes one feel really sorry but helpless is that they arrest Falun Gong practitioners without any reason. Hao Qiuyan was seeking help from a lawyer because her husband was unjustly thrown into jail. Then the Shijiazhuang city government detained her as well and charged her with the crime of "not accepting the brainwashing yet being very active [in Falun Gong]." Several local Falun Gong practitioners were detained or interrogated because they accepted my interview. Some of them were even beaten and tortured. Some of their homes were ransacked just a few hours after I had interviewed them. This pained me and forced me to stop my investigation of the truth.

This so-called "people's government" has chosen to do the vicious deed of barbarously and violently suppressing those who wish to have their own belief. These are not isolated occurrences, but are part of the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners throughout the entire country, which started six years ago. They have murdered and detained such a large number of people on such a large scale and with such brutality that it is the highest on record ever in history. Six years have passed and there is no sign that the authorities in different regions will show a shred of kindness to the Falun Gong practitioners. Mr. and Mrs. Huang Wei are still detained. At the same time, twelve Falun Gong practitioners in Yantai City, and six in Chongqing have been illegally abducted and detained as well. This is the latest evidence indicating that the local authorities refuse to stop their bad deeds against humanity.

Falun Gong practitioners have suffered six years of inhuman torment from the government, and there is no indication that the authorities in different regions will discontinue this violence. Nevertheless, there have been some changes during this period of time. More and more people whom I know, including more and more experts, scholars, everyday Chinese people, and officials within the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) system, have started to reflect on the injustice of the government's campaign to persecute Falun Gong. A brilliant change has occurred. A few years ago everybody was keeping quiet about the Falun Gong issue due to fear, but now people are questioning the unlawful persecution campaign against their compatriots who practice Falun Gong. It has become a widespread topic of discussion. More and more people have recognized the injustice, inhumanity and illegality of the government's brutal persecution. This rapid and extensive change contrasts dramatically with the government's lack of change, a situation that is quite thought provoking.

Guo Feixiong, a famous scholar in China, recently published an article entitled, "Trampling the Freedom of Religion Is Trampling the Heart of Human Civilization." The state of Chinese society and Chinese people's minds and thinking has undergone changes which are completely different from that of the "Cultural Revolution" period. This is a fact that one has to face. Meanwhile, the world should clearly recognize another serious fact, which is that the current authorities' control of the Chinese society still maintains the old abuses used during the "Cultural Revolution" period. Before the smell of the blood from our slaughtered pro-democry compatriots of the "6.4" event [Tiananmen Square Massacre on June 4, 1989] dispersed, the vicious power-seekers have again raised the butcher's knife with their bloody hands. If the bloodiness and cruelty of the "6.4" event was a terrifying and disastrous experience for China, the bloodiness and cruelty of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners has for a large number of Chinese people been a non-ending fact of life. "The severe consequences of violence against Falun Gong practitioners is not any less than that of the 6.4 event," said famous scholar Teng Biaoru. To a large extent, this represents the view of the majority of scholars in China.

In the past six years, the Chinese people have witnessed an organized, systematic persecution movement. The 610 Office, a terrorist organization, carries out the policy of "defaming their reputation, bankrupting them financially and destroying them physically" to oppress a hundred million Falun Gong practitioners. They arrest, torture, detain, fine, fire and forcibly "transform" Falun Gong practitioners at will. They utilize the whole nation's propaganda machine to spread lies and slander, turning the persecution into the whole nation's movement, and create hatred and force all Chinese citizens to oppose Falun Gong. The 610 Office is a Gestapo-like organization with features similar to the "Cultural Revolution Leadership Group of the Party Central Committee" during China's Cultural Revolution. It spans from the Central Government to the local governments, having absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches, public security, labor camps, media, etc. It is the highest authority to systematically persecute Falun Gong and carry out their policy of state terrorism. The 610 Office gives directives to the local police, essentially giving them free rein to torture, sexually assault, and even murder men and women who practice Falun Gong. It also directs all local political and judicial departments to establish brainwashing centers to forcibly brainwash Falun Gong practitioners who refuse to renounce their belief. The appearance of the 610 Office has completely disrupted the already poor situation of China's legislative work.

At a time that marks the six years of suffering of our Falun Gong compatriots, it is necessary for us to speak out in various ways about the truth we have known. Speaking the truth is not blaming the government. At the same time, the government is to blame concerning this issue. The act of speaking out for the truth and calling for people to face the facts that have happened or are happening, is the basis from which a civilized society can rationally resolve different opinions. Our government claims that it is taking efforts to construct a harmonious society. If this disastrous and humiliating situation involving tens of millions of citizens who are Falun Gong practitioners does not completely end, this hope can only be a dream.

Fighting against people's freedom of belief is the stupidest thing to do, as it is a fight against human nature. Throughout human history, no power or force has ever defeated human nature, and neither will there be any force that could do so in the future. Six years ago, the persecutors of Falun Gong foolishly chose the vicious act to fight against human nature; however, human nature has never been defeated by any powerful forces. The fact is, the suppression of Falun Gong has already failed. Thus it is better to return to the path of humanity, face the truth and do something in line with human nature, than to hold on to a failed value system and persistently set oneself against human nature.

During this persecution that started six years ago and which is being maintained with much difficulty by the authorities, not only have the 100 million Falun Gong practitioners and their families been persecuted and devastated physically and mentally, all the people in China and even in the whole world have also suffered invisible harm from the lies and deceit carried out to justify this suppression. In the near future, the whole truth will be exposed. In the process of learning the truth, all the governments and people in the world will gradually realize the great losses they have suffered morally, spiritually and economically due to this persecution. We all have the responsibility to let the outside world know the truth as soon as possible.

Many people who attended this activity learned about the persecution of Falun Gong for the first time. Some said that they would browse the Internet and sign to support the campaign against the persecution of Falun Gong and some wished Falun Gong practitioners success. One person working for the Dutch Government said that he would not only sign his name to support Falun Gong but also tell his friends far away in Shanghai.

On one occasion, when a crowd of people came over to watch the demonstration of the five sets of Falun Gong exercises, a practitioner told them that Falun Gong is a peaceful practice that teaches people to cultivate their mind and body based on the principles of the nature of the universe, Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. "In China, however, people are persecuted because they practice Falun Gong. Tens of thousands of people are sent to prison and more than two thousand people have been persecuted to death. We came here today to let the public know the truth of this persecution and to further stop this persecution. We hope to have your support." Hearing this, people were shocked and many of them asked for informational leaflets.

In the crowd, our reporter took some pictures of children looking attentively at the information posters.

Andrei, a very young practitioner from Latvia, demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises while the beautiful and peaceful music played. Attracted by his wonderful performance, many tourists stopped to watch the demonstration. When asked why he came there, little Andrei tilted his head to one side and seriously said that he simply wanted to tell people that, "Falun Gong is good!"

Practitioners Worldwide Share How They Found Dafa

Searching For Falun Dafa in Tbilisi, Georgia

My name is Zurab. I am 30 years old. I have a wife and a four-year-old daughter. I live in Georgia (a former Soviet Union republic) in a little town called Gori.

I began my spiritual search as a devotee of the orthodox Christian church. In my first year at the University, I was introduced to eastern culture and philosophy, which immediately transformed my heart. I just fell in love with the East. I found such deep connections to Indian and Chinese traditions that my eyes used to fill with tears whenever I watched or read programs or books on those subjects. Although I was quite a good student in economics (mostly it made me happy to make my parents proud) my mind and heart always floated somewhere beyond. Yoga became the first practice that opened up for me the "field" of mind and body cultivation. At that time my awareness of these things was very limited and mostly I groped by intuition and a sense of the "inherent goodness" that I always felt in myself and held dear because it gave me a certain mild sense of safety. I liked the practice of Yoga. I even had the experience of seeing scenes through the "third-eye." This experience made me quite scared, as I was sort of sucked into another dimension and I could hardly pull myself out. Meanwhile I also tried various forms of Chinese qigong, read volumes of various metaphysical books, and dreamed of going to India, Tibet, etc. Although I was not unhappy with all of these, still I felt uneasiness in my heart. It was a feeling that is like when you are waiting for something else, something that is going to bring you "home" (it's difficult to convey). I should also admit that my body started gradually getting messed up and I felt and looked less and less healthy.

In 1998 as I was taking a stroll down Rustaveli Avenue (the main street in Tbilisi, capital city of Georgia) occasionally browsing outdoor bookstands without any intention, I stopped at one of them. I glanced over the beloved section of metaphysical books and like a magnet my eyes fell on an almost hidden book cover with partly visible front images. Absolutely intuitively I took out the book for a closer look. It was in the Russian language (translated from Chinese) and it was Falun Gong by Master Li Hongzhi. Immediately I felt more space in my mind and started to chat with myself: "That's something new. I like the images. (I am opening the book) It feels very different. It would be interesting to buy it. Oh, I've got only 10 Gel (about 5 USD) and the book costs 8 Gel, still I need to get home. I'll buy it some other time, right. Well, no, there's something special. Zurab, you have done a lot of irrational things in your life, do it once again. All right, all right I am buying it, buying it..." Thus I took the book home. The last section of the book contained illustrations of the five tranquil exercises. Quickly I tried the first one and I felt something that I never ever felt before with any exercise I had done before. Earlier I mentioned about "inherent goodness," and now I clearly sensed the improvement of that goodness in me. Falun Gong was improving my own very nature.

I read the book of the Great Master and I realized that predestination had brought me to the most precious thing on earth. This was the book of true, genuine, orthodox cultivation practice of mind and body. From Falun Gong I learned that there was a principal book called Zhuan Falun ("Turning the Law Wheel") by the founder of Falun Gong, Master Li Hongzhi. I started frantically searching for the book (at that time I did not have a computer and the Internet was a novelty in my country). I searched throughout Tbilisi in vain. But, again there was that predestination. Days later I was in Tbilisi again and towards evening I went to the post office. Once I had finished with my own business and was leaving the place, approaching the door, there was a bookstand in front of me and suddenly it dawned on me, from that distance I half felt, half saw what I was searching for. Hastily I approached the stand and took out a copy of Zhuan Falun together with the Great Consummation Way of Falun Dafa (Russian translations). Upon arriving home I sat down to read Zhuan Falun. After reading several paragraphs, tears started rolling down my face. From the depths of my heart I kept repeating: "I have found what I have been looking for, I have found It."

Now, I practice Falun Dafa wholeheartedly and have experienced huge benefits in my body and mind. Although I am able to sit in lotus position for up to 4 hours, I know that without improving my xinxing I am unable to realize true progress. True cultivation is the cultivation of one's heart, one's self. As we assimilate to the nature of the universe we also change towards goodness. It is beneficial to the society in general as well, but the most real things are invisible to others.

After the persecution started it became very difficult to practice. I had a feeling that everything was collapsing around my body and mind. The more I felt pressure the more I read Zhuan Falun and practiced cultivation. I know 100% that this was the only "bridge" that took me to the more peaceful shore of the present time. Through those several years I was a lonely practitioner in my country.

Later, I was visited by two Canadian practitioners, and in several days we managed to clarify the truth to several NGOs and government organizations. We made a very nice, almost 1-hour long live radio program, established a practice site in Tbilisi and were on TV on the Morning Show introducing this wonderful practice. I am so grateful to these Canadian practitioners that I can't even explain it in words. Their selfless assistance created Dafa's foundation in Georgia.

The more I practice Dafa the more I find it difficult to convey the greatness of our revered Master Li. Master Li with his Great Buddha Fa for me is the only reason to exist in the Universe. The latter's existence, nothing could be more obvious, comes from Master's Benevolence. I wish all practitioners including myself would at least strive to comprehend (though in vain) the incomparable purity and magnificence of the Teacher who has left for all of us, without exclusion, the Fa of the Universe itself. Let us all be more diligent in doing the three things and persevere right to the last step in cultivation of Falun Dafa. Let all of us feel in the depths of our hearts and express through "Non-Omission" genuine gratitude and respect towards Master Li Hongzhi.

A Greek Practitioner's Experience Attaining the Fa

I have written poetry since the age of eleven. Poetry is an art form, a way for someone to express himself, just like painting or music. A time came when I realized that what matters is not to just take a pen and write verses. What really matters is to experience poetry... to be able to experience life in a poetic way. "And what does this mean? " somebody asked me. I answered: "Just imagine staring at the sky with an August moon on Gaudos (Greek island, uninhabited) and falling stars or a sunset. How do you feel? Imagine then having this feeling every moment in your everyday life. This is what I call poetic. Of course there's more than that."

At a young age I also realized that in order to create true poetry, poetry which really touches the soul and has something to say, I had to become a true person myself, to understand the world around me, to touch the truth of the universe. It was then that my spiritual journey started, through books, movies, traveling, philosophical discussions and a few poems. I absorbed knowledge, I consumed art and I was thirsty for more. But my thirst was never quenched because there was always something new to learn, another place to visit, a new experience to experience and so my soul could never become satisfied. Something was always missing and deep in my heart I was sad.

The last year before attaining the Fa was a spiritual year. The step I chose to take was something that no one had expected. My parents didn't find any meaning in that and many friends told me that they wouldn't do it. I decided to leave Athens and go to Germany to get a master's degree in German (without really knowing the language) in a field in which I didn't have any background (environmental protection), almost without money, without having a place to stay and without knowing anybody there. In spite of the difficulties, something inside me was telling me, "You should go." And even though my sensitivity towards the environment and my need to do something to help the environmental situation motivated me to take this step, the true reason I had to go to Germany, I now believe, was to attain the Fa. So, I went. I said to myself, I'll only stay there for six months as a trial and then I'll go back. However, everything went smoothly. I found a job, I found a cheap place to stay and I successfully completed the first semester. So I stayed and attained the Fa a year later.

I didn't know anything about Falun Dafa. Nobody had ever talked to me about it. I also didn't know anything about the persecution in China. However, all of a sudden I found myself practicing. It was in Paris at the Eiffel Tower last August that I saw these posters showing people full of bruises and wounds. There were also practitioners doing the exercises at that time. Something touched my heart. I had to find out more about this. So, I approached somebody who was distributing flyers and I asked. He explained to me about Falun Dafa. "And how about the posters with the tortured people?" I asked. He explained to me about the persecution in China. I asked for a contact in Stuttgart where I was living at the time, and two weeks later, I had already started the practice.

The way I came in contact with Falun Dafa strengthened the belief I always had that nothing happens accidentally in our lives. Everything happens for a reason. It's just when we are not able to see the true reason behind something that we call it accidental. Life itself (or something behind it) was taking me step by step somewhere and because it brought me to Falun Dafa, I knew it was good. As soon as I started with the practice, people told me I looked calmer. A friend who hadn't seen me for some time said that my face reflects more peace and compassion now. He didn't know the reason. I slowly got rid of many poisonous things from my mind and soul, such as negative thoughts, anger and fear. My life stopped being a continuous race. I became more capable of living in the present, in the now. I know now that what we call quality of life is not about having a good car or having lots of money. It is about having peace of mind. I know now that what we call spiritual development is not about consuming knowledge. It is about our continuous effort to become better persons.

I also know that I have a long way to go, that I am only at the beginning. But it is so wonderful at the age of 29 to have found answers to so many questions I always had, and to know that I am on a path that's taking me somewhere beautiful and it is up to me whether I reach this place or not. I suggest that we should all leave human poetry behind and move forward to the poetry of the universe.

Practitioners Exchange Experiences and Insights

Eliminating Fellow Practitioners' Severe Sickness Karma Interference with Righteous Thoughts

(Clearwisdom.net) Some practitioners are interfered with by sickness. If one repeatedly fails a test, after many attempts it could lead to a certain situation: the more one stays in that state, the weaker one's righteous thoughts will become. Even though a practitioner can have omissions, or one's sickness karma can be very big, we should completely deny the arrangements of the old forces and forbid them to interfere with practitioners during the Fa-rectification period. Once we are in the above situation, we should send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil and the interference in other dimensions. If the practitioner can't send forth strong righteous thoughts due to the severity of the sickness karma interference, others should surround the practitioner and send forth righteous thoughts.

The following are several examples:

Two practitioners were once forced to become homeless for a period of time after being released from labor camps. During that period, they didn't study the Fa well and didn't send forth righteous thoughts well. Finally, after they went overseas, they developed an attachment to comfort. However, the evil did not let them go. While they were detained in the labor camp, they had been persecuted and tortured. After they went overseas, the two practitioners developed scabies. Their skin got infected, discharged pus and stank. An overseas practitioner took them to his house and asked some retired elderly practitioners to send forth righteous thoughts and study the "Fa" every hour around them. In the beginning, these practitioners felt severe pains in their legs when they were sending forth righteous thoughts. Some sensitive practitioners also didn't feel well. But the evil was being eliminated gradually every day. The two practitioners from Mainland China were getting better every day. They completely recovered in a short period of time. Without the effort and unity of practitioners from this particular practice site, these two practitioners from Mainland China would have suffered more, and maybe they would have became unable to continue their cultivation.

Before suing Jiang Zemin in Chicago, many practitioners overcame many difficulties in order to be able to join the parade and clarify the truth about Falun Gong to people. Before the parade, one practitioner suddenly couldn't walk anymore. Apparently, her former sciatica problem reappeared. She wanted to rest at the hotel. Her roommates realized it was interference. Why didn't the back problem show up some few days earlier or later? Did it have to show up just before the parade? Master wouldn't choose such a day to eliminate her karma. Several practitioners surrounded her, sat down and sent forth righteous thoughts. The practitioner felt that a bad thing left her body; then her legs were fine. She could walk again.

In another situation, during a big Falun Gong event, a practitioner suddenly lost consciousness. The practitioners around her realized the importance of the event and sent forth righteous thoughts as a group, every 20 minutes, until she came to and she could stand up. This example shows the strong power of righteous thoughts.

In some areas, practitioners have been suffering sickness karma interference continuously. The main contact person had such a problem several times. It was because the practitioners in that area didn't understand the evil's interference. They believed that sickness karma interference is related to personal cultivation, and thought that others could not help. Or they just sent forth righteous thoughts only when the sickness became very dangerous. They didn't form a unified force, a whole body. If we lose even a single practitioner, many sentient beings will be destroyed, and Master will be sad. So we must pay attention to righteous thoughts, and form an indestructible unified body, to prevent the evil from using our loopholes.

Experience Sharing About the Rescue of Jailed Practitioners

(Clearwisdom.net) Early this year, under practitioners' joint efforts, three practitioners who had been seriously persecuted broke through the evil arrangements by gaining release before their prison terms were due. The authorities did not want to release them at all at first. This experience enabled the local practitioners to experience Buddha's infinite grace time and time again.

We have summarized our experience to share with fellow practitioners:

Help practitioners in detention build up righteous thoughts, completely reject the old force arrangements, save sentient beings with great mercy and be able to let go of life and death.

Let practitioners' family members know the truth so they can resist the evil and actively cooperate with our rescue mission.

Expose the persecution details and phone numbers of involved work units and the perpetrators on the Internet, enabling overseas practitioners to support the rescue and stop the evil people from doing more evil.

Notify local practitioners and practitioners who were detained in the same prison where the practitioner to be rescued is illegally jailed, as well as practitioners in other areas, to send forth righteous thoughts intensively at set times to eliminate all evil factors involved in the persecution of that practitioner. Even if that practitioner has omissions, the evil has no right to test him.

Accompany fellow practitioners' family members to demand their release, and strengthen the righteous thoughts of their family members.

Our city has a male practitioner, who is about 42 years old and was sentenced to a seven-year prison term. He was held in a prison in another area. Life in prison was like living in hell and he showed symptoms of several "diseases." The most serious was lung disease. He also developed scabies all over his body. Before the New Year, his wife visited him. He told her he was eliminating sickness karma and every day the prison guard took him to have injections and medicine. His "diseases" got worse and worse after the treatments. He said some passive and hopeless words and stopped eating. His wife was very worried about his dangerous condition. She rushed back to let other practitioners know about his situation and asked them for help.

Fellow practitioners sincerely told his wife to help him improve his understanding, stressing the following points:

What he was experiencing was not eliminating sickness karma but persecution imposed upon him by the old forces. Master said after July 20, 1999, there was no more test for personal cultivation and everything had switched to saving sentient beings.

A person's main consciousness is very important, and we should not give up our flesh body under any circumstances. Master said, "A being's choice is up to him, even if he made some kind of vow in history." ("Teaching the Fa at the 2002 Fa Conference in Philadelphia, U.S.A.")

We should not endure passively. Master said, "No matter what the situation, do not cooperate with the evil's demands, orders, or what it instigates." ("Dafa Disciples' Righteous Thoughts are Powerful")

The practitioner's wife followed her fellow practitioners' advice and even motivated other family members to join in the rescue of her husband. She decided not to spend the Chinese New Year at home. If her husband did not return home, she would stay at the prison demanding his release. A few practitioners decided to go with her and they agreed to send forth righteous thoughts every evening at 8, 9 and 10 o'clock.

It took us 10 hours by train to get to the prison. Many local practitioners had learned the news and arrived at the prison gate two hours earlier to send forth righteous thoughts. The prison authorities were very tough and cunning, saying it would take seven or eight days to go through the release procedures, and his health condition was poor and they should persuade him to eat first; otherwise he would not be able to survive when they got the release paperwork done. When his family members heard these words, they did not know what to do.

At lunchtime, Dafa practitioners shared their thoughts with his family members, telling them this was the usual trick of the prison authorities: Once this practitioner started eating, it would be a compromise and they would lose the opportunity to rescue him. They told his family members that we should not be influenced by what they were saying. We are here to save sentient beings, not to endure persecution. We do not have much time to play with them. Everything is determined by Master and Dafa practitioners. We would demand them to release him by 4 o'clock that afternoon.

We strengthened our righteous thoughts and the local practitioners also continued sending forth righteous thoughts. As expected, at 4 o'clock, the prison authorities agreed to let us go through the release procedures and take him home. The other two practitioners had a similar experience. The prison authorities were very firm at the beginning, saying they would not release them unless they were dead, but eventually they did release them

No matter how long the tribulation continues, righteousness will overcome evil. The splendor of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" will illuminate the whole world, which enables some people under the control of the evil to change to good and those who do not change will be powerless.

When You Face Other Cultivators' Attachments

(Clearwisdom.net) Recently, I was in a very dangerous state while handling specific conflicts in my personal cultivation. It took me two months to walk out of this state. I enlightened from this experience that cultivators at different levels have different attachments. Sometimes, it is hard to notice the attachments because the attachment is coated with, "My intention is good for him. If he were an ordinary person, I could tolerate it [his attachment], but he is a practitioner; how could he make such a lowly mistake? I have helped him by pointing out his attachment. Why hasn't he corrected it? He continued to repeat his mistakes in front of me, which means I needed to repeatedly point it out for him." This took too much of my time and was distracting me from doing the Three Things. I couldn't help but to blame him. When others pointed out my bad cultivation state, I too realized that the state I was in was not good. But I did not know how to correct it. I knew that I could only walk out of this bad state by studying the Fa.

When I re-read Master's "Fa-Lecture During the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference," I saw that Master said,

"You know what? Just on the one issue of cultivation alone it's so complex at the cosmos's lower levels. But it becomes simple at higher levels, where there's no longer any concept of cultivation but only the concept of karma elimination. At levels higher up, all troubles are to pave the way for ascending to Heaven."

When I read this, I experienced a great shock. All troubles are to pave the way for ascending to Heaven, and all troubles are only to pave the way for ascending to Heaven. So, if there are only a few steps missing in my way for ascending to Heaven, aren't the troubles a ladder for me to ascend to Heaven? How can I even distinguish which troubles are likeable or non-likable? How could I even choose the troubles that are for me to ascend to Heaven and to like or dislike them? Are they for me to choose?

Upon enlightening, I understood that Master has enlightened me through the Fa and raised my level of understanding. Later, when I encountered even bigger conflicts, my observation points and understandings were very different from before. Of course, that's not the end of it. A heart dissolved in the Fa needs to prepare for any occurrence of troubles, that is, to prepare to turn the troubles into ladders for ascending to heaven, and pave the way for ascending to Heaven.

On the other hand, isn't it a strong attachment if you cannot stand other cultivators' shortcomings? Disliking things that do not fulfill your requirements or things that do not satisfy your ideas is also a very obvious and strong human manifestation of sentimentality. Liking and disliking something, saying that someone is good or bad, all comes from sentimentality, whereas the difference between a god and a human is that a god uses the Fa-principle to handle things, not his personal likes or dislikes to handle things.

This does not mean, however, that we do not point out any faults of our fellow cultivators. Not pointing out other's obvious faults while being aware of them does not fulfill the standard of a Dafa disciple either. Nonetheless, every person's attitude may differ when they point out others' faults. Sometimes, one points out others' faults with a sincere compassion, and sometimes we may do it with the attachment of showing off, especially when the other's shortcoming is something you are good at. That's the attachment. Every disciple may have this attachment to a different extent. On the other hand, after you point out another's fault and that person does not correct it, you should not be troubled and keep dwelling on it because that too is an attachment. Everyone follows his or her own path, and a cultivator cannot change another cultivator's path.

We are saving the world's people on a large scale, but at the same time, we cannot neglect our solid personal cultivation. We need to remember to look within ourselves and find our shortcomings.

Passing Through the Cold and Welcoming the Warmth of Summer - Clarifying the Truth in Manhattan - Part 3

(Clearwisdom.net) A month of truth-clarification efforts on the streets of Manhattan passed quickly. The following are my some of my experiences from the past week.

1. A group of young Falun Gong practitioners from far away

Because they wanted to attend the Washington DC experience sharing conference, many practitioners came to the USA a few days earlier. They headed straight for New York to clarify the truth on the streets. Eight practitioners from Europe came to our anti-torture exhibit. They came from the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Russia. All were young and only knew a little English, but this was not a barrier at all. With a sincere smile on their faces and the compassion of a cultivator, they brought the truth of Falun Gong to the people in the bustling crowd.

One of these eight had the face of a child. His deep blue eyes disclosed his innermost purity. I estimated him to be not more than 20 years old. He told me of the many people in the Penn Station building and asked if he could go there to hand out truth clarification materials. I said, "As long as you have formidable and pure righteous thoughts, security personnel will not trouble you." He smiled, "I understand," and turned around. Half an hour later he had finished distributing all the information. His sweat-soaked face mirrored his joy.

The woman from Czech Republic had black hair and was beautiful and pure. One day a middle-aged couple came to our exhibit. I immediately told them about the truth of the persecution, but they did not understand English. I asked them what country they were from so I could give them a flyer in their language. When I heard they were from the Czech Republic I told them that we have a practitioner who had just arrived from there. When that practitioner introduced herself, their faces showed a mixture of pleasant surprise and confusion. They did not expect to meet a person from their home country thousands of miles away on the streets of New York. The couple listened carefully to her explanation. Their expressions told me that they understood the greatness of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance and the might of Dafa. Not only did they sign their names on a petition to end the persecution, but at the same time remembered the greatness of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance in their hearts.

Mike, a computer engineer, is a young man and the only one in the group fluent in English. He is the only person from the European group whose name I know. In addition to his native language he also speaks German, English and Russian. Seeing him read the Czech version of Zhuan Falun surprised me. He told me that even though not many people in his country practice Falun Gong yet, he had translated this book with the assistance of other practitioners who understand English. He is a man of few words and hardly stopped to rest or eat; he constantly handed out information to clarify the truth, practiced the exercises and sent forth righteous thoughts. One day a woman crossed the street, walked over and told me that she had just gotten Falun Gong materials from Mike. Their brief conversation made her feel his sincerity and compassion. She came specifically for our anti-torture exhibit and hoped that I would teach her how to practice Falun Gong. Mike's benevolence touched her deeply.

Not too far away I saw a tall, brown-haired woman clarifying the truth to a couple. Her English speaking skills are limited. Although I could not hear the content of their conversation, I realized from her gestures and expressions that she was diligently trying to let this couple know the truth of the persecution happening in China. About half an hour later I still found her in conversation, and that couple was continuously nodding. This deeply moved me. The many seemingly little things Falun Gong practitioners do may look ordinary, but they are actually planting the seeds of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance in people's hearts.

2. A Beautiful Woman from Tibet

At first I mistook her as a Japanese or Korean national. When she told me she was Tibetan I felt closer to her.

I have a connection to Tibet because I had traveled there in 2000 before I had obtained the Fa. To experience the Buddhist spirit and breathtaking natural beauty of Tibet firsthand, I spent an unforgettable week there. The CCP (Chinese Communist Party) has deceived each and every Chinese person into thinking that the CCP was actually Tibet's "liberators from subsistence and slavery." I didn't believe it then, but I knew nothing of what Tibet was truly like. During a visit to a Buddhist monastery, some young nuns were weaving flowers for use in a ritual. I tried to communicate with them and discovered while they don't understand Chinese, they could speak English. Tibetan people's persistence and firmness in their belief is even more remarkable. Even in the face of pressure by the CCP, they still worship gods and respect heaven and earth. More precious were their sincere smiles and kind help toward ordinary Han Chinese (Han people are China's largest ethnic group).

The Tibetan woman in front of me had an air of great elegance about her. She told me she was born in India. Her parents escaped from there after the CCP army soldiers killed her grandparents. She also said Falun Gong is very grand, very peaceful and sacred. She often tells her American husband stories of the persecution. She had written an article and published it in the Tibetan community newspaper, to raise her compatriots' awareness of the persecution of Falun Gong. "There are quite a few Chinese people at my place of work, and I often tell them the plight of the people in Tibet. Because of my personal experiences they finally realized they have been deceived by the CCP. Now they also realize the persecution and deception by the CCP on the Falun Gong issue."

3. My Fellow Chinese Awaken to the Truth

In one week, another practitioner and I each talked one-on-one with three fellow Chinese countrymen. The first one was a middle-aged man who signed the petition against the persecution after receiving some of our information. There was also a woman that the other practitioner spoke with for quite a long time. She said she knew Falun Gong was good, for she had many friends who practice it. Because of her relationships with them, the police also harassed her and forced her to resign from her job before she came to America. She, too, signed the petition calling for an end to the persecution. The third person emerged from a building right in front of us and stopped to listen to our explanations when he saw our anti-torture exhibits. When we asked if he was willing to sign the petition to support us, he hesitated. He said he fully supported us, but his parents still lived in China and he often returned to see them. His hesitance represents that of many Chinese who fear the violence of the CCP. We expressed our understanding and respect to him and believe that, through our efforts, many more of our fellow Chinese can awaken to the truth and put aside their fears.

But there also people who suffer severely from "Stockholm syndrome" and cannot come to their senses. In order to rescue them we must be even more compassionate and caring. The following are my experiences with one of my fellow Chinese countrymen in the subway. [Note: The Stockholm syndrome is a phenomenon in which a hostage begins to identify with and grow sympathetic to his or her captor.]

After we were done with our anti-torture exhibition I took the subway home. I saw another Chinese person sitting across from me. I moved next to him and found out he was a farmer from Fuzhou City in China. I tried to give him some truth-clarifying handouts but he didn't accept them. I tried to clarify the truth to him but he interrupted me curtly several times saying, "Falun Gong is illegal." I asked him, "How can it be illegal for people to do exercises and meditation in a park? Does being good people according to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance equal endangering our society?" I told him about many people who have gained new lives from practicing Falun Gong; because of the miraculous effects of Falun Gong in healing illnesses and improving health, and even high-ranking officials practice the exercise. He could not find suitable words, but tried to quibble. About the time he ran out of arguments, the train stopped, the doors opened, and he suddenly stood up and fled. I felt very sad that I was unable to remove the poison from this man's mind.

I had to change subway lines and after boarding a train I immediately found a seat beside a man and sat down. To my surprise, a fellow practitioner who was sitting opposite me looked at the man and then looked at me and broke into laughter. It was really amazing: this man was the person who left the last train early. As soon as he saw that it was me, he closed his eyes. I smiled and said, "There is an immense predestined relationship between you and me. Otherwise, how could we sit together one more time?" His eyes remained tightly closed and there was not the slightest show of emotion on his face. In a peaceful and genuine tone I told him the universal truth that good is being rewarded with good while evildoings will meet due karmic retribution. I told him in today's China, many farmers like him are deprived of the last piece of land on which they live, and are beaten to death during their appeals efforts. The expressions on his face told me that he was listening attentively. Before I got off the train I told him, "Please remember, "Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good. This will bring you a good future."

I believe the power of compassion will touch his heart.

How the Pills and Injections Forced on Me in Detention Were Discharged through Many Channels

(Clearwisdom.net) Long ago, I was thinking about writing something that I had personally experienced. However, I did not do it, because I was felt unsure about expressing myself correctly. After I read the articles on Clearwisdom.net, "Some Thoughts Regarding the Psychotropic Drugs Used to Persecute Practitioners", and "Practitioners with Upright Minds Are Immune from Medical Danger", I thought I should finally write it out. First, to expose the evil and frighten the evildoers, and then to let fellow practitioners who have had similar experiences strengthen their righteous thoughts, completely deny the old forces' arrangements, get rid of the shadow of being persecuted as soon as possible, closely follow Master's Fa-rectification process and fulfill our prehistoric vows.

In May 2004, I was arrested and my house was searched when I was distributing truth-clarification materials. The authorities confiscated all my Dafa books, Master's lectures in audio and video, some truth-clarification flyers and letters to all the heads of the provincial Communist Party as well as a letter to President Hu. Based on those materials, they treated me a person who is responsible for the local Dafa activities or the person who is responsible for local Dafa materials. The local top official personally dealt with my case.

They first sent me to detention center and then to a brainwashing class. In the brainwashing class, they forced me to watch evil VCDs that slandered Dafa and Master. I did not cooperate and claimed that I had headache and slept with a quilt over my head. I did not think they would use my words against me. They forced me to have an injection and swallow medications. I protested immediately, and told them, "No matter what kind of needle and what kind of drugs, they will not affect me. If you use a needle, my Master will help me to clean it out. Master will also clean out the forced medicine. Don't waste your time on me."

They held me down and gave me the injection and the medications by force. The drugs were discharged from my body almost immediately via sweat and urine. They were discharged via all kinds of channels including my feet and palms. I did not feel any discomfort. Seven or eight people tortured me for a week. They forcibly administered drugs by injection and by force-feeding me pills every day. Having seen that the drugs had no effect on me, they said that I had strong resistance to the medication, so they increased the dosage every day.

One time, I heard one of the evildoers say, "She will lose her mind in less than half an hour." I was still fine after half an hour. After a week, they saw that I was still fine and very clear minded. They were afraid themselves. The evil head of the brainwashing class, the "doctor", the department head and the guard never showed up again.

Because the dosage of the drugs was too high, Master's Fashen connected the artery on my neck and pushed the drugs out via the blood vessel and then dropped it into my mouth via my nasal cavity and palate. The pill stayed the same shape when I spit it out but it became softer. I spit four times: the first time, I had neck pain for a whole night. The following morning, I first spit two mouthfuls of fresh blood, the third mouthful was the pill; on the second time, I immediately spit out the pill without pain in my neck and a little bit of blood on the pill; the third and fourth time, the pill had no blood at all. I only felt that something slid through the artery in my neck, went into my nasal cavity and then dropped into my mouth via my palate. It was the grey pill that I spit out.

The fourth time was in the Spring Festival in 2005. At that time, I had been out of the evil den for half a year. After I became homeless in order to avoid being illegally arrested at home, I was working in a small restaurant as a result of fellow practitioner's help. The boss of that restaurant and his relatives had all witnessed Dafa's majesty.

"Disciples' righteous thoughts are strong, Master has the power to turn back the tide" (Provisional translation subject to further improvement, "Master-Disciple Grace", Hong Yin II). We should remember Master's teaching all the time. If we firmly believe Master and firmly believe in Dafa, our great and merciful Master will protect us all the time.

Two Stories from China: Falun Gong Practitioners are Given Top Priority for Jobs, a Farmer Learns Dafa and Is Cured of Cancer

Story 1: Falun Gong practitioners are given top priority for jobs, business turns from loss to profit

Several Falun Gong practitioners from a factory in Northern China constantly clarified the truth to their colleagues. Gradually, the majority of employees in this factory came to understand the truth, which led to economic growth for the factory. The business began to flourish

After understanding the truth, the chief manager of the factory voluntarily gave a job back to a practitioner who was dismissed because he had gone to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Dafa. In considering whom to promote, the boss first took into account whether this person truly cultivated Falun Gong. If the person was a true practitioner, then the boss would promote him. If the person was not, then the boss would not give him priority. The boss said that he trusted people who practiced Falun Gong.

Whenever the police from the local police station came to harass Dafa disciples, the factory gatekeepers would not let them in at all since the factory employees all knew the truth and voluntarily protected Dafa disciples. Dafa truth clarifying materials and CDs were openly distributed within the factory. Through Dafa disciples' efforts in clarifying the truth, people from out of town who came to the factory for business also came to understand that Dafa teaches people to be good and that practitioners are innocent people suppressed by the Chinese Communist Party. They also came to understand the evil nature of the Chinese Communist Party and to know of The Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and the great wave of quitting the Communist Party worldwide.

Story 2. Laryngeal cancer struck like a bolt of lightning; obtaining Dafa rescued me from a desperate situation

I am a farmer and I'm fifty-six years old. Last November, I was diagnosed as suffering from late-stage laryngeal cancer. I spent almost ten thousand yuan to treat this illness.

Last June, I borrowed a copy of Zhuan Falun. I held it up and began to read. While reading it, strangely, my throat and chest became comfortable. In one day, I was able to take care of things in my day-to-day life all by myself. In two days, I could take care of the household chores. My wife, who used to weep for me, began to smile.

When I found out that my aunt was a Falun Dafa practitioner, my family immediately accompanied me to visit her so that we could learn the Falun Gong exercises. Since then, I have been walking on the path of cultivation and my health has improved day by day. While sitting in meditation, I saw that the big palm that Master extended in other dimensions was as bright as an electric light bulb. Falun Dafa rescued me from a desperate situation.

Upon seeing my change, the neighbors in the village changed their opinion about Falun Dafa. Some of them came forward to ask if they could learn the practice. The person who lent me the book also let go of fear and started to cultivate again. I deeply feel that Falun Dafa is great. Jiang Zemin's regime persecutes Dafa. Jiang's regime is truly heartless, and I know that what it says is all lies.

A Bureau Chief Learns the Truth, and the Evil Brainwashing Class Collapses Soon Thereafter

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioners in a city in Qiannan District, Guizhou Province have been persistently clarifying the truth to supervisors in their workplaces for a long time. The supervisors read the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, and based on this ironclad evidence, completely lost all confidence in the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and no longer believed its evil theories and deceitful tactics. Some of them are prepared to completely withdraw from the CCP and others have taken the initiative to protect practitioners and help them to solve their problems related to the persecution.

After listening to Falun Dafa practitioners' truth-clarification, a supervisor understood that Falun Gong is being persecuted. He returned the salaries withheld from practitioners to them. He also considered the current inflation rate and realized it is unreasonable to reimburse back pay based on a six-year-old standard of living. He believed this mistake would eventually be corrected, so he sent revised compensation requests for compensation to the related organizations for the practitioners.

In May of 2005, the Political and Legal Committee, the 610 Office, and the police department held a so-called "emergency meeting" to notify work unit supervisors with Falun Gong practitioners that each unit had to pay a fine of ten thousand yuan per practitioner. They also forced supervisors to send practitioners to brainwashing classes against their will. Since practitioners steadfastly resisted this evil persecution and worked hard to clarify the truth, those supervisors who understood no longer cooperated with the evil. Now the locally-operated brainwashing class has collapsed.

The federal government has become an accomplice to torture and possibly murder by disgracefully deporting a woman to face certain persecution in China, local MP John Duncan and human rights defender Clive Ansley charged Friday.

At a Campbell River press conference, Ansley said Ottawa's August 5 deportation of Hu Xiaoping to China was akin to handing Jews over to the Nazis.

"The determination by your departments that Hu Xiaoping would not be at risk if sent back to China is precisely analogous to a finding in 1938 that a Jew would not be at risk if sent back to Nazi Germany," Ansley wrote in a letter to the ministers of Immigration and Public Safety. "It is difficult to comprehend the level of ignorance and incompetence in this finding.

"Your government is now an accomplice to unlawful imprisonment and the most brutal forms of torture. More likely, it is an accomplice to murder."

Ansley is a lawyer with an international human rights reputation who moved to the Comox Valley two years ago after 14 years of practicing law in Shanghai. Duncan described him as "a national treasure and resource."

The two said Hu is a 47-year-old Chinese woman who fled China in 2003 after being imprisoned and tortured by Chinese authorities because of her [practice of] Falun Gong, a non-political, non-violent traditional meditation group that is like a religion, advocating truth, compassion and tolerance.

They said Hu applied for refugee status but was deported back to China on August 5 after an Immigration panel determined she was not at risk. She has not been heard from since.

"Hu Xiaoping was delivered directly into the hands of the people who will no doubt be torturing her; to the people who may well end up being her murderers," Ansley said. "This was done with the full knowledge of the Canadian Government and we think it's probably linked to the coming visit of Chinese president in September."

Ansley said the Chinese government launched a policy of genocide against Falun Gong in 1999. He said the murders of almost 2,800 Falun Gong practitioners at the hands of the Chinese government have been documented since then. He said an estimated 100,000 Falun Gong members have been imprisoned in slave-labor camps.

"You could have stopped this deportation but you chose not to do so," Ansley wrote in his letter to the federal ministers. "You consciously chose to deliver this woman directly into the hands of her awaiting torturers. Your government has disgraced all Canadians and further sullied Canada's hard won but now rapidly-eroding reputation as an international champion of human rights."

Duncan said his party, many Canadians and human rights groups are very concerned about the direction that Canada has taken in its relationship with China.

"We can't have Canada being essentially the only western democracy delivering people into torture and labor camps and possible execution," he said. "This is just not right.

"No other western democracy would knowingly allow this to happen. Canada is in a league of its own here and it's not a league that we want to be in."

He said reliable reports about six weeks ago stated that Chinese spies working in Canada have made it their business to identity Falun Gong members in Canada as well as carrying out industrial espionage.

"Canada should be very concerned from a security and sovereignty standpoint," he said.

A Courier-Islander call to Immigration Minister Joe Volpe's office resulted in a response from Kara Prest, Citizenship and Immigration Canada spokesperson.

"I can only speak for the Department of Citizenship and Immigration and talk to issues and policies," she said Tuesday.

"Due to privacy concerns (it's) inappropriate to comment on any individual."

Duncan has written to the Minister of Immigration and the Minister of Public Security to request that Falun Gong practitioners who request refugee status not be deported, because there is no doubt that they will be persecuted in China.

Two Former Heads of the 610 Office Received Retribution and Died

(Clearwisdom.net) Heaven and earth clearly see goodness and evil in human society. Retribution will manifest clearly without any bit of error. The purpose for Falun Dafa practitioners clarifying the facts of the persecution is not to wish retaliation upon anyone but to help people clearly distinguish between right and wrong. It is to save the people who have wrong thoughts because of their inability to understand the truth and to help them stop following Jiang Zemin's regime in participating in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Those people who persecute kind people are guilty, even more so are those who persecute Falun Dafa practitioners who live according to "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance." The guilt committed is extremely huge, so they cannot escape from the universal principal of retribution. It is hoped that news of these bad deeds will help them to abstain from committing wrongdoing so that they can position themselves well when they have to choose between right and wrong; and that they may choose a wonderful future for themselves and their families by doing good deeds.

Two Former Heads of the 610 Office Received Retribution and Died, to Their Relative's Regret

Zhang Shiming and Wang Kewu, two former heads of the 610 Office in Huanggang City, Hubei Province, received retribution and died on February 13, 2005, and March 29, 2005, respectively. After the news of their deaths was published on Clearwisdom.net, it spread widely around the city. One of their relatives said to a Falun Dafa practitioner who clarified the truth to them, "I did not believe it previously when people told me about retribution. Now, it seems that retribution really exists! I really did not expect it, and I really regret it! I cannot even raise my head when I walk down the street. I'll tell my family that they should no longer tear down materials posted by those who believe in Falun Dafa and to also say silently 'Falun Dafa is good.'"

Recently, the post for Head of the 610 Office in Huanggang City became vacant. Several people were contacted to take this post but they all refused the position. There was no one in Huanggang City who was willing to fill this vacancy. A secretary with the surname Fan from the Discipline and Inspection Committee, Macheng City was to be promoted, but he also refused. Ming Zhongliang, former director general of the Public Security Bureau, Zhucheng City, is morally corrupt. He behaves badly and was notorious in Zhucheng City for his misdeeds. Ming Zhongliang's mother did not try to persuade him to stop committing wrong deeds. She has also been deceived by the lies of the Communist Party and is hostile towards Falun Gong. When practitioners clarified the truth to her, she started swearing and did not listen. On the evening of August 29, 2004, when Ming Zhongliang's parents were taking a walk, a motorcyclist came rushing down the road and hit his mother. She died on the spot.

Bian Xupeng, the president of General Hospital, Dongfeng Company, Shiyan City, Hubei Province, actively followed Jiang's regime to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners during his term. After Si refused to pay, they lowered the sum to 200 yuan. Si Guirong firmly resisted their extortion and the police were unable to make her comply. On August 1, Si Guirong was released.

On August 5, Gaoji local police arrested Si Guirong once more and tortured her at Dong'e County Detention Center, where she is still detained.

Ms. Ma Xueqing from Dalian was monitored and tracked while going to work early in the morning on July 28, 2005. She was arrested and her house was ransacked. She is presently imprisoned at Dalian Yaojia Detention Center. The main perpetrators are officials from Chunhai local police station and Zhongshan Police Department. Facts of the Persecution: The Persecutions Suffered by a Dafa Practitioner at Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp

In November 2002, the guards at Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp beat and kicked Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhou Yongliang and didn't allow him to use the restroom. One day in June 2003, the guards used Mr. Zhou Yongliang, who was emaciated, as a punching bag, hitting him while wearing boxing gloves. On one occasion they handcuffed Zhou Yongliang to a bed and forced him to sit on a stool. They allowed him to sleep for only two to three hours each day and tortured him until he lost consciousness. While Zhou Yongliang was sitting on the stool, the criminal inmates burned his face with cigarette lighters, leaving several scars. Besides burning him with the lighter, they pinched his nose and ears with pliers and pulled out his moustache, one hair at a time, causing him great pain.

Perpetrators from the Changshou National Security Bureau in Chongqing have recently abducted Dafa practitioners

On the evening of June 30, 2005, perpetrators from the Changshou National Security Bureau and from many police departments in Chongqing ransacked Dafa practitioners' homes. On July 1, Dafa practitioner Wang Gaizhi and her husband, as well as employees from the Chuanwei Factory were abducted, as were the following practitioners: Chen Zhongrong from Taiping Township, Duzhou Town, practitioner Kong Fanhui from Xingfulu Village, practitioner Zhang Xiuyun from Gelan Town, and practitioner Guo Yunqing from Fengcheng Town. Practitioner Zhang Xiuyun escaped with the power of righteous thoughts one month into her detention. Practitioner Wang Gaizhi and Kong Fanhui were sentenced to 18 months of forced labor. Wang Gaizhi's husband, Zhang Benli, was held for 28 days. Practitioner Cheng Jianbo received an unlawful arrest warrant on July 20.

Recent persecution of Dafa practitioners in Wulumuqi City

On the morning of August 9, 2005, Wulumuqi City government enforcers arranged numerous arrests of Dafa practitioners. The city government also assigned quotas to the district governments. We have recently learned that Dafa practitioner Liu Hong from the Xinshi District was arrested and sent to a brainwashing class. Since June 12, the perpetrators from Xinshi District abducted practitioners Liu Zhongxiang, Liu Xiaoru and his wife, and numerous other Dafa practitioners. They also ransacked the practitioners' homes. Yang Tao, head of the National Security Bureau at the Xinshi District Police Department was among the perpetrators who tortured the practitioners. It is also learned that the court is planning to try Dafa practitioners in violation of the Chinese Constitution and hand out heavy prison sentences before October 1, 2005.

Repeated persecution of Dafa practitioner Mr. Du Kesong from Wendeng City

Dafa practitioner Mr. Du Kesong, 69 years old, lived in Wendeng City, Shandong Province. Over the past six years he was repeatedly persecuted. The main perpetrators are Wang Yongjian, Xiang Hongping, Li Yinglin, Sun Guohai and other personnel from the Wendeng City 610 Office and the police department. Mr. Du was twice illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor for a total of six years, was detained four times, and held four times under security detention. The perpetrators fined him 2,000 yuan and his home was ransacked three times. Du Kesong was ruthlessly persecuted only because he refused to give up his belief in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance. Even after Mr. Du was released on medical bail due to high blood pressure, the police still repeatedly harassed and persecuted him, which greatly traumatized him. His family lost a total of 30,000 yuan as a direct result of the persecution over the past six years.

Police officers in Xianghe County, Hebei Province abduct a practitioner and extort large amounts of money from his family

Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Yuhui, 38 years old, lived in Wangjiabai Village, Anping Town, Xianghe County, Hebei Province. He did some bad things early in his life. After he learned Falun Gong in 1995, he conducted himself according to Truth-Compassion- Forbearance and became a good person. Since the persecution of Falun Gong started on July 20, 1999, the perpetrators harassed and threatened Zhang Yuhui many times, especially on so-called sensitive dates. As a result, Zhang Yuhui was compelled to leave home.

On April 7, 2004, Zhang Yuhui was abducted by perpetrators from the Xianghe County Police Department and National Security Bureau and was sent to a detention center where he was incarcerated under criminal detention for one month. He was later sent to the Langfang City Brainwashing Class. Mr. Zhang's family was threatened after his abduction, and the perpetrators tried to extort 60,000 yuan from his family. After his family made some connections, the perpetrators lowered the amount to 40,000 yuan. Zhang Yuhui's family borrowed lots of money and was barely able to pool the extortion amount. They hoped the money would be returned later.

Zhang Yuhui was released after about a month of persecution. He had to work different jobs the following year to pay back the debt. In May 2005, personnel from the Xianghe County Police Department National Security Bureau told Zhang Yuhui, "We confiscated your money and will not return one yuan."

Historical Commentary on Han Xin, Famous General of the Han Dynasty

(Clearwisdom.net) Han Xin (?? - 196 BC), a great military officer at the beginning of the Han Dynasty, was from Huaiyin (today's Jiangsu Province). Both of his parents passed away when he was young. Although he was very poor, he studied hard and familiarized himself with military strategy and tactics. He had great ambition and wanted to become an important person one day. Without any source of income, he often had to go to the houses of different friends to eat. Sometimes he went to the Huai River to catch fish and exchange them for money. He was often discriminated against by the people around him. Once, a gang of ruffians humiliated him in public. A butcher said to him: "Although you are tall and big and like to carry a sword, I know you are a coward. Do you dare to kill me with your sword? If you dare not, you have to crawl between my legs." Han Xin knew that if he killed the man he'd have to pay for it with his life. How could he just casually kill a man? His mind was calm; he thus crawled between the butcher's legs in front of everyone. The historical refers to this as: "The humiliation of crawling between legs."

In 209 BC, two farmers, Chen Sheng and We Guang, started an uprising against the corrupt Qin Dynasty. Soon rebellions broke out everywhere in China. Han Xin went to join the rebel army of Xiang Liang, who founded the nation of West Chu. After Xiang Liang was killed in a battle, his nephew, Xiang Yu, became the ruler of West Chu. Xiang Yu didn't think much of Han Xin and only gave him a position as a guard. Han Xin made numerous suggestions to Xiang Yu, but Xiang Yu did not listen. Han Xin resented being treated this way and left the Chu camp to join another rebel army, the Han army, ruled under Lord Liu Bang.

At the beginning, Liu Bang didn't think much of Han Xin either and only appointed him as an officer managing the food supply. Han Xin realized Liu Bang wouldn't give him any important position and decided to leave again. But Liu Bang's Prime Minister, Xiao He, was aware of Han Xin's ability. When he heard the news that Han Xin had left, he rode on horseback and chased after Han Xin all night to persuade him to return. There is a phrase about this story: "Xiao He pursuing Han Xin under the moon."

Later, after numerous recommendations by Xiao He, Liu Bang discussed military strategy with Han Xin and realized Han Xin was a rare military talent. Liu Bang thus held a ceremony and appointed Han Xin as a senior general.

In May of 206 BC, the Han army won a major victory against Lord Zhang Han's army. Lord Zhang Han's army was based near the city of Hangzhou. The road there had been destroyed. Han Xin openly sent many soldiers to repair the road. Lord Zhang Han learned about it and thus put his guards at ease thinking that the Han army wasn't able to mount an attack until the road was repaired. In the meantime, Han Xin quietly led his troops along an old back road near Nanzheng and surfaced at the town of Chen Cang. Lord Zhang Han's army was totally surprised by the attack and was destroyed by the Han army. Because of this victory, Liu Bang was able to establish himself as one of the three rebel leaders.

In February of the second year of Hangaozu, Han Xin led his troop out of the pass of Hanguguan and marched towards the city of Luoyang. There, he won a series of victories. The Han army eventually conquered Peng, the capital of Chu, ruled by Xiang Yu. At the time, Xiang Yu was engaged in a battle with the country of Qi. When he heard about the fall of Peng, he led 30,000 highly trained cavalry to return to Peng during the night and defeated the Han army quickly. Han Xin regrouped the defeated troops and joined forces with Liu Bang in Luoyang region. He used the warfare tactics of Blocks and Strikes and defeated Chu's army between Jiang County and Suoting, thus stopping Xiang Yu's army from marching westward. Finally, the battlefront stabilized at Yingyang (in today's Henan Province).

In August, Liu Bang appointed Han Xin as the Left Prime Minister. Han Xin led his army to attack the country of Wei. Wei's Lord Bao stationed a large number of troops along the east bank of the Yellow River. In light of Wei's troop strategy, Han Xin put a large number of boats at Linjin, at the opposite side of the Yellow River, pretending he would attack by crossing the river in boats. Meanwhile, he quietly had temporary equipment built for crossing the river using wooden frames tied together with ceramic vases. The troops crossed the river upstream at Xiayang and made a surprise attack at Anyi. With the unexpected emergence of Han's troops behind Wei's army, Han Xin defeated Wei's army and captured Wei's Lord Bao.

In September of the third year of Hangaozu, Han Xin led troops towards the east to attack Eyu. There he captured the acting Prime Minister, Xia Chuo, and recaptured Dai County. At this time, Liu Bang ordered Han Xin to put his main forces quickly in the Yinyang region to reinforce the area's defence. Thus, Han Xin led only about ten thousand troops eastward to attack Zhao at Jingxing. Zhao's Lord Xie and the commander-in-chief, Chen Yu, put two hundred thousand soldiers at the gateway of Jingxing in the Taixing Mountain region. The Zhao army held the favorable terrain and prepared to make a decisive battle with Han Xin. Han Xin dispatched 2,000 light cavalry overnight to outflank behind Zhao's main regiment. At daybreak, Han Xin lined up the main forces at the edge of the river bank, with the river behind the troops, and lured Zhao's army to attack. Han's army fought with the river behind them. Knowing they were without any way to retreat, everybody fought desperately. The 2,000-strong cavalry used the opportunity to attack Zhao's battalion. When Zhao's army saw the red flags of the Han army flying everywhere, they panicked and fell into total chaos. Han Xin used the favorable situation to counter attack and defeated Zhao's army of 200,000. Han's troops killed the commander, Chen Yu, and captured Zhao's Lord Xie.

In November of the fourth year of Hangaozu (203 BC), Han Xin used the tactic of Heavy Troops to quickly attack Qi's capital, Linzi. Chu's general, Long Qie, led an army of 200,000 troops to the rescue and met the defeated Qi army at Gaomi (In today's Shandong Province). They faced Han's troops on the opposing side of the Huai River. Han Xin secretly dispatched troops overnight to dam the river water upstream with more than ten thousand sand bags. At daybreak, he sent part of the troops to cross the Huai River to attack Chu's troops and then withdrew, pretending to be defeated. General Long Qie judged that Han's army was timid and sent his main forces to cross the river to attack. Han Xin then ordered his troops to open up the dam upstream and the water separated the Chu's troops in two halves. He then used the strategy of "attacking the enemy in the middle of river crossing" and killed all the troops that had crossed the river. General Long Qie was also killed. The combined troops of Qi and Chu, on the other side of the river, collapsed without fighting. Han Xin pursued the escaping troops and captured Qi's Lord Tin Guang. He conquered Qi's territory completely.

After Han Xin occupied Qi's territory, Xiang Yu was in panic. He quickly sent people to persuade Han Xin to join him and fight against the Han by promising to give him one third of the country. Han Xin refused. Han Xin's advisor, Quai Tong, tried to persuade him: "General, haven't you heard that it is dangerous when one's courage and talent exceed one's master, and that too great a merit will not be rewarded? Your reputation now alarms your master and you have meritorious services. If you join Chu, they won't trust you, and if you return to Han, Han's lord will fear you too. If you do not establish yourself as a lord in your own right, then what place could you call home?" Han Xin quickly stopped him: "Speak no more. Han's lord treats me with great kindness and favor. He gave me his personal carriage to use. He gave me his clothes to wear. He gave me food to eat. Our forefathers said: 'When you ride in another person's carriage, you will share his worry; when you wear his clothes, you should also share his worry; and when you take his food, you should do your best for him.' How can I see only my own self-interest and forget righteousness?"

Han Xin thus refused to turn against Liu Bang. But Qi's territory had been just conquered and there was a need to establish a lord to govern the country and to pacify the people's minds. Han Xin thus wrote a letter to Liu Bang requesting to be the acting lord for Qi. At first, Liu Bang didn't consent to the request. But after listening to the opinions of Zhang Liang and Chen Ping, Liu Bang made Han Xin the Lord of Qi and ordered him to attack Chu.

In December of the fifth year of Hangaozu (202 BC), the Chu and Han armies faced each other in a decisive battle at Gaixie (today's Binan, Anhui Province). Liu Bang appointed Han Xin as the commander-in-chief. Xiang Yu commanded 100,000 of Chu's troops to attack fiercely at the Han front. Han Xin ordered the midsection of his troops to withdraw slightly and to avoid the vigorous drive of the Chu's troops. He then spread both wings out to carry out a flank attack and then ordered the midsection troops to push forward. The strategy completely surrounded Chu's troops. At night, Han Xin ordered his troops to sing Chu's hometown songs from all sides. Chu's troops lost their fighting spirit and were annihilated at Haixia. Xiang Yu committed suicide on the bank of the Wu River. The five years of war between the Chu and Han ended when Liu Bang conquered the country.

Starting as a lowly guard for Xiang Yu, Han Xin became general under Liu Bang and achieved outstanding victories repeatedly within just a few years. He was the major figure in deciding the outcome of the war between Han and Chu. Quai Tong praised this all-powerful military figure as: "A rare and brilliant strategist." His principles of maneuvering the troops were highly praised by the later military strategists. According to Han Yiwenxhi, Han Xin wrote three chapters of Hanxin Military Strategy. It's a pity that the book has been lost.

Han Xin's ability made Liu Bang extremely uneasy. After defeating Xiang Yu, Liu Bang seized Han Xin's military command and made him the Lord of Chu. After a period of time he was demoted to the Marquis of Huaiyin and later placed under house arrest.

In the eleventh year of Hangaozu (196 BC), Empress Lu and Prime Minister Xiao He lured Han Xin to the Changle Palace and executed him on the excuse of conspiracy against the state. It is sad to see how a great general of his time was killed.
