Concerned People Telling the World about Falun Gong and the Persecution in China: Clear Wisdom [Monday, September 26, 2005 ]

(Clearwisdom.net) Upon hearing about Hu Jintao's visit to Canada on September 8, 2005, Falun Gong practitioners in Canada held many discussions about how best to make use of the situation. Everyone agreed to take advantage of the opportunity to let Hu Jintao learn the facts about Falun Gong so that he could make the right choices. More importantly, Hu's visit was also an opportunity to help the Canadian people, including the Prime Minister, learn the facts, support justice and choose their own bright future.

Full-scale Truth Clarification Activities

Several weeks before Hu Jintao's visit, practitioners conducted extensive truth clarification activities using various formats in each city, including anti-torture exhibitions, signature collection drives, hosting forums in both English and Chinese, and explaining the facts to each level of Canadian government - from members of Parliament to the Prime Minister. Practitioners also clarified the truth to each of the mainstream media outlets.

Under the late summer burning sun, practitioners from Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Kingston held an anti-torture exhibition in Ottawa for two weeks. Most of them were older practitioners and several were over 70 years old. Many Canadian citizens were touched and signed their names to oppose the persecution of Falun Gong in China.

Before Hu's visit, practitioners held four press conferences in Ottawa and two large rallies in front of Parliament. One rally was to call for the denial of entry into Canada of Bo Xilai, a human rights criminal implicated in the persecution of Falun Gong. The other was to call on the Prime Minster to raise the Falun Gong issue in his meeting with Hu Jintao. Members of Parliament (MP) David Kilgour, Ed Broadbent, and Scott Reid expressed their support at the rally. Practitioners in Toronto and Vancouver also conducted various truth-clarification activities. Through the collective effort of practitioners across the country, nearly ten thousand Canadians co-signed an appeal letter to call on the Prime Minister to raise the Falun Gong issue in his meeting with Hu Jintao.

Through the effort of practitioners and the Canadian people, human rights criminal Bo Xilai, who was initially on the list of Chinese delegates, did not enter Canada.

On September 8, Hu Jintao arrived in Ottawa in a heavy rain and went to the Westin Hotel. Practitioners held banners along the route to the hotel in the rain. The banners read, "Bring to justice Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan, Liu Jing, Zhou Yongkang," "Bring to justice the ruthless police and others who persecute Falun Gong," "Hu Jintao, the time that Heaven and the people give to you is limited," "Stop the persecution of Falun Gong" and "Falun Dafa is good."

According to Ms. Zhang Monghua from Toronto, practitioners waited in the heavy rain to give Hu Jintao an opportunity to learn the facts. Many practitioners, including elderly practitioners, did not eat anything until afternoon. Everyone was in high spirits and cooperated well with each other.

Practitioners Clarify the Truth in front of Hu's Hotel

Practitioner Dai Gongyu said, "Unlike they did in later locations where they entered and exited though the side door, Hu Jintao and his delegation entered and exited through the hotel's front gate in Ottawa. They could see clearly the practitioners' appeal site and they heard our voices."

Ms. Dai told of a specific incident early on the morning of September 8 when practitioners came to the hotel where Hu stayed to set up various banners, hold group practice and send forth righteous thoughts in front of the hotel. When Hu Jintao's motorcade arrived, the practitioners used loudspeakers to call out, "Falun Dafa is good," "Stop the persecution of Falun Gong," and the three messages to Hu Jintao. As the Chinese delegation was just across the street, they could see the practitioners and hear them clearly.

Someone was afraid of seeing and hearing the practitioners' righteous voices. In order to have Hu Jintao not see the practitioners and their banners, pro-CCP (Chinese Communist Party) persons rented a large bus and parked it on the street in front of the hotel, to block the view of the practitioners.

Ms. Dai said, "For several hours the bus did not leave. We realized that the bus parking there was not right. We could not accept this arrangement. Then we talked with the bus driver and pointed out that parking there was not allowed. We told the driver it would be shameful to be there only to block the petitioners. It does not conform to Canadian's rules. During the discussion, a CCP official came forward to interfere and would not let the driver talk with practitioners. The practitioners then reported the violation to the Royal Mounted Police and the Ottawa Police and explained to them the practitioners' petition here and the persecution in China. The bus finally left. The police promised us that no similar incident would occur. Our banners could be seen clearly again as Hu Jintao's delegation entered and exited the hotel."

During the two days of Hu's visit in Canada, practitioners sent out their pure and compassionate voices whether in front of the hotel, the General Governor's office, the Museum of Civilization or Parliament. Practitioner Mao Huizhi from St Louis, Missouri, USA said, "We wished to give him the opportunity to stop the persecution of Falun Gong and to bring the criminals [who persecute Falun Gong] to justice. His visit to Canada, I think, should have him be moved."

Practitioner Jing Zhi recalled, "My deepest impression was at around 7 a.m. on the morning when Hu Jintao left, we practiced the exercise in front of the hotel. Later, everyone started to speak out loudly together. Actually, I felt we offered a compassionate call from the bottom of our hearts. One practitioner led the call and our voice was strong and determined. I felt the righteous field. Western practitioners were also touched and many practitioners had tears in their eyes. Everyone offered the calls from the heart and wished for Hu to be awakened and be saved. At that time, we could clearly see Hu Jintao and his wife only a few steps away."

Canadian Government, People and the Media Pay Attention to the Persecution of Falun Gong in China

On September 9, Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin raised the Falun Gong issue in his meeting with Hu Jintao in Parliament in Ottawa. Based on practitioner Li Xun's recollection, on the evening of September 8, Stephen Harper, leader of the Official Opposition, stopped at the practitioners' appeal site on his way to attend a dinner in the Governor General's office. He shook hands with each practitioner at the site and said, "Keep up all the good work." During the press conference on September 9, the first question that reporters asked was about China's human rights situation, including the persecution of Falun Gong.

The Canadian mainstream media covered China's human rights issue, including the persecution of Falun Gong with several dozen reports. Media covering Hu's visit and the human rights situation included CBC, CTV, Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Ottawa Citizen, Vancouver Sun, and Montreal Gazette. (Clearwisdom.net) On September 8th, there was a forum on the Chinese Communist Party's abuses against human rights and freedom of speech during a session of the European Parliament. Mr John Bowis, an MEP from London, made a brief speech appealing to the CCP to stop its violations of human rights.

In his speech, Mr. Bowis said, "China is a great country with a splendid culture. But the violation of human rights has brought shame on the reputation of the country. I hope that the Chinese all can listen attentively to what my colleagues are talking about and also to the resolution on freedom and tolerance."

In his speech, he also mentioned Yang Feng, a former UK Falun Gong practitioner who is locked up by the CCP. Mr. Bowis said, "I hope that the Chinese Government can set Miss Yang Feng free. She was illegally arrested when calling on a friend of hers. She has been put into a Women's Forced Labour Camp, without going through any legal process, where she is suffering from ill-treatment and brainwashing."

Mr. Bowis said finally, "Only by listening attentively to, taking action and putting an end to the behaviour of persecuting human rights, can the Chinese government receive our respect."

Yang Feng, 42, was arrested at the home of a friend, a Falun Gong practitioner, in Beijing on the evening of March 1st 2005. Yang Feng refused to sign a search warrant and replied that she had done nothing wrong. After searching her by force, police took Yang Feng away together with her PC and some other things, leaving her fourteen year-old son shocked and alone at home. After they left, it was the child himself that rang one of his relatives for help.

Mrs. Agnes Wilton from London, a good friend of Yang Feng's who has known her for ten years, said, "Falun Gong is very peaceful, not harmful and has nothing to do with politics. Everybody around me likes Annie (Yang Feng's English name)." She "felt very sad" about Yang Feng's arrest. " I have called those who probably know where she is detained, but nobody knows where she is locked up."

Mrs. P Fitzgerald living in Ireland is another friend of Yang Feng's. She has known Yang Feng for six years. Mrs Fitzgerald said she was "shocked and extremely dissatisfied." She also said, "I am deeply sympathetic to her situation. She is a very nice person, honest and kind."

Practitioners talked to people who wanted to know more about the real situation of the Chinese Communist Party that illegally suppresses, persecutes, tortures and kills the innocent and peaceful practitioners of Falun Gong. People who understood the truth were all surprised and angry and signed their names on a petition calling for an end to the human rights abuses against Falun Gong.

Newark is a multicultural city, as people from many different nationalities reside here. City council member Sue Johnson expressed that the city celebration is held annually and organizations from different ethnic groups, backgrounds and religions are invited to join the event. This also reflects that the city really pays attention to the harmony among residents and respect for different religions.

Falun Gong practitioners' procession was composed of a waist drum troupe, an exercise demonstration troupe, and a young practitioners' dance troupe. Some practitioners unfurled banners that read, "Falun Dafa", "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance", "The World Needs Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance". When a police officer saw a banner written in Vietnamese, "Falun Dafa Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance", he told a practitioner that his girlfriend is Vietnamese. Then he said, "Falun Gong is great!"

When the procession passed by, many spectators said, "It's beautiful!" While watching the parade, some spectators learned the Falun Gong exercises. A less-than-3-year-old boy who sat on his father's shoulders also stretched his arms to copy the practitioners' movements. When practitioners pressed their hands together in front of their chest (Heshi), he also mimicked the hand gesture. He fixed his attention on the practitioners until they were far away.

After the parade concluded, several young practitioners who wore yellow T-shirts imprinted with Dafa message were on their way to return to the parade's starting position. A western lady asked them, "What is Falun Gong? The parade host said that Falun Dafa is a spiritual belief. Then is it a religion?"

Practitioners answered, "No. Falun Gong is a kind of qigong and its practitioners follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. Therefore, after practicing cultivation, many people gain better health and their moral standard is also improved. They become better persons." The lady was very happy and said this is exactly what she had been searching for. She said that she could feel that practicing Falun Gong allows people to be more peaceful.

Practitioners gave her a truth-clarification flyer and told her that she could download the exercise instructions from internet and learn the exercises. All Falun Dafa books including Zhuan Falun can be downloaded free of charge. Practitioners stressed that it is really important to read the book, which guides people to become truthful, kind, and tolerant. They also told her about practice sites nearby. The lady was so excited that she held practitioners' hands and kept saying, "Thank you!"

The invited special topic speakers included professors from Rangsit University, professors from some other universities, a radio host from MCOT, renowned psychiatrists and Falun Gong practitioners.

Professor Paisal from Rangsit University, also a Falun Gong practitioner talked about the relationship between nature and the growth of everything on the earth in his speech. He condemned the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for breaching natural laws and controlling people's thoughts through despotic means, saying, "They don't allow people to enjoy the freedom of belief and persecute Falun Gong practitioners in China."

Falun Gong practitioner Huang Guohua from Mainland China related his personal experiences. His wife was tortured to death simply because of her practice of Falun Gong. His four-year-old daughter Kaixin experienced the physical and psychiatric shock from the death of her mother. Mr. Huang exposed the CCP's inhumane human rights violations with his personal experiences. He called upon the international community to help stop the persecution and support Falun Gong practitioners' human rights.

Four representatives of the Taiwan Falun Dafa Institute, who are suing the Hong Kong government for the forced repatriation of 80 Taiwanese Falun Gong practitioners two years ago, gave a progress report on their case yesterday, one day after their return to Taiwan.

The four were among the 80 practitioners repatriated in February 2003 after going to Hong Kong to attend a Falun Gong activity.

The 80 practitioners were taken into custody at the Hong Kong airport and some were victims of police violence, according to Chang Chin-hua, representative of the Taiwan Falun Dafa Institute.

One of the plaintiffs, lawyer Theresa Chu, said that there was no legitimate reason for the repatriation.

"Repatriating us because we are Falun Gong practitioners is a violation of religious freedom and human rights," Chu said. "We all had the correct visas and none had criminal records. The repatriation was illegal."

The four plaintiffs were again detained at Hong Kong's airport as they arrived for their court appearance and were forbidden to leave, because of what the the Hong Kong Immigration Department called "security reasons."

"The Hong Kong government's action, in repatriating Falun Gong practitioners with no criminal records under mere assertions of security, is purely irrational," Chu said.

The group's Hong Kong lawyer, Paul Harris pointed out the illegal action of the Immigration Department and demanded the reasons for the listing of the four plaintiffs on the territory's "Immigration Watchlist."

"The Chinese government is suppressing human rights in both Taiwan and Hong Kong by not allowing Falun Gong practitioners to enter the country," Chu said. "The Hong Kong government should respect the judiciary and not give in to suppression."

ESS: A Falun Gong campaign in favour of prisoners of conscience: China still persecutes people who practise this method.

Many local people in Lahti paid attention to a badly beaten Chinese woman in a cage in Lanun square. The bruises were not real, but the message was: Falun Gong practitioners in China have been tortured, killed and arrested during the last six years.

Falun Gong is a Chinese cultivation practice which includes the practice of exercises and meditation. Like Tai Chi it has been passed on from teacher to disciple since ancient times.

In 1992, the founder and teacher of Falun Gong Mr Li Hongzhi brought the practice to the public and this health-improving method gained great favour. At the end of the last century there were more than 100 million practitioners.

But the phenomena of this great popularity caused fear among the Chinese Communist Party regime. Falun Gong has been, among other things, characterised as the biggest threat to the Chinese Communist party after the democracy campaign.

Falun Gong doesn't have any political agenda. According to practitioners the only motive is to be able to practise in peace. To this, the Chinese government has not agreed.

Illegal in 1999

In April of 1999, twelve practitioners were arrested, after which 10 000 practitioners gathered to peacefully appeal for a legal and peaceful environment to practise. Although they were promised to be able to practise in peace, a few months later a large-scale campaign to eradicate Falun Gong began. It was declared illegal and all materials were confiscated and the destruction of it begun. Into this campaign was also included a distortion of its ideology and the slander of the practice.

Put the pressure on

At this time, Falun Gong practitioners were forced to choose between work, study or Falun Gong. Those who give information about practitioners get rewarded; those who are arrested are required to sign guarantee statements, if they refuse they will meet with different kinds of difficulties like losing their job. Lawyers are forbidden to defend Falun Gong practitioners and thousand have been sent to forced labour camps and "re-education centres" to transform them from Falun Gong.

The Chinese regime's action has lead to several deaths.(1) The police authorities burn the bodies before the relative manage to identify them. During long-term imprisonment, they are assaulted and tortured in an effort to force them to give up the practice.

Even though China has signed the UN human rights declaration and the activity is against the Chinese constitution, the persecution continues. But after The Epoch Times publication of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, people have come to realise the horror behind the Chinese Communist Party. A couple of weeks ago, nearly four million Chinese had already withdrawn from the communist party and the withdrawal continues to be 20,000 people per day, said Sinikka Suontakanen a Falun Gong practitioner who was in Lahti taking part in the activities.

People in Lahti uninformed but interested

The Finnish Falun Gong Association has been touring many Finnish towns during June to tell people about the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners.

The idea has been to get more signatures to the petition, which will be handed to the Parliament's Human Rights Unit.

"This petition can help to have some influence on China, like when the Finnish Government is in contact with China, they can discuss these human rights issues," said Falun Gong practitioner Sinikka Suontakanen. The tour has attracted a lot of attention.

"Many people have not heard of it before, but get interested when seeing us and we have got a great amount of signatures," said Suontakanen.

Falun Gong was introduced to Finland via Finnish people living in Sweden. Suontakanen became a Falun Gong practitioner five years ago. "I tried the practice and decided to embrace it", she said. "But at this moment Falun Gong practitioners are also bringing up the issue of human rights."

(1) To date, 2,733 Falun Gong practitioners are verified to have died in the persecution, although the actual number is believed to be much higher.

Falun Dafa Practitioner Mr. Zeng Guozuo Has Died as a Result of Persecution

(Clearwisdom.net) Practitioner Mr. Zeng Guozuo was a 54-year-old resident of Hunan Province. He was tortured during his detention in Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp in Changsha City. Later, he was diagnosed with nasal cancer, but he was still detained another 7 months. In August 2005, fearing that Mr. Zeng was dying, his persecutors notified his local police station to pick him up. On September 18, 2005, 20 days after his release, Mr. Zeng passed away.

Mr. Zeng went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and clarify the truth in May 2000. After that, the Shaodong County Police Department detained him three times. In July 2004, the police arrested him for clarifying the truth in Guilin City. After the persecutors in the Shaodong County Police Department took him back home, they tortured him severely. Mr. Zeng refused to give up his cultivation, so he was sentenced to 2 years of forced labor and detained at Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp in Changsha City.

At the end of April 2005, over 50 practitioners were detained at Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp in Changsha City.

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Xie Xiuying from Puyang Farm, Suibin County, Heilongjiang Province was abducted and illegally sentenced to three years of imprisonment in 2001 because she distributed truth clarifying materials. She was detained in Harbin Women's Prison, where she suffered severe torture. Each day she was forced to perform military drills and do slave labor. If she was not able to finish the required quota of forced labor, she was deprived of sleep and given little food. The prison guards beat, kicked, and shocked her with electric batons if her movements in the military drills did not comply with their requirements.

At the end of 2003, prison guard Xiao Lin ruthlessly kicked Xie Xiuying while torturing her. Her left leg became swollen from calf to thigh as a result of being kicked. The prison guards took her to No. 2 Hospital in Harbin for a medical examination, forcing her family members to deposit 5000 yuan for medical treatment and saying that her leg might be amputated. Xie Xiuying refused the amputation.

The injury on Xie Xiuying's left leg festered and abscessed not long after the prison guard kicked her.

The 610 Office's Special Case Group in Hengshui City Arrests 13 Dafa Practitioners

On the morning of June 16, 2005, Falun Dafa practitioners from Hengshui City, Hebei Province accompanied practitioners Mr. Sun Liangsheng's and Kang Yanxiang's families to the Hengshui City 610 Office to ask for the unconditional release of their family members. Right after that, the Hengshui City 610 Office set up a "Special Case Group," and frenziedly arrested over 10 Dafa practitioners. It was Li Junqu, the Secretary of Hengshui City Communist Party Committee, and Zhang Zengliang and Wang Baojun, the Directors in charge of politics and law in the Municipal Committee, who ordered the creation of the 610 Office's Special Case Group that persecutes Dafa practitioners.

The Dafa practitioners who were arrested and sentenced are as follows: Mr. Sun Liangsheng, 40, an excellent teacher from the No.2 High School in Hengshui City, and Kang Yanxiang, 39, an employee of the Hengshui City Science Committee. Both of them have been persecuted many times. On the New Years Day of 2004, personnel from the Hengshui City 610 Office instigated the Hengshui City's Taocheng District Police Department to arrest Mr. Sun Liangsheng and Kang Yanxiang. After they were detained for 18 months, the court from the Taocheng District of Hengshui City fabricated some crimes and sentenced them to another four years in prison.

For a long time, Mr. Sun and Kang's families lost contact with them. On June 16, 2005, their families went to the Hengshui City 610 Office with other practitioners to inquire about their whereabouts and demand their unconditional release. In response to this, the Hengshui City 610 Office immediately set up the 610 Office's Special Case Group. Since June 16, using the pictures they secretly took of Dafa practitioners, they have arrested over 10 Dafa practitioners, including Mr. Sun's wife and Kang Yanxiang's brother .

On the afternoon of June 16, Special Case Group police officers Li Yibing and Zuo Tiehan went to the school where Mr. Sun's wife, Ms. Wen Shuqiao was and interrogated her. They arrested her a few days later. Mr. Sun and Ms. Wen's two high school daughters were left at home.

Meanwhile the Hengshui City 610 Office also instigated police officers to go to Zaoqiang and Ji County respectively and arrest Dafa practitioners who were involved in this "incident." They arrested practitioner Mr. An Dasheng from Zaoqiang. Only after they tortured him to the brink of death did they finally release him. Police officers also broke into the homes of practitioner Mr. Jiang Hongtu and another elderly practitioner. They attempted to arrest Jaing Hongtu, but in vain.

Mr. Kang Yansu, Mr. Kang Yanxiang's older brother, was a teacher at the Diwang School in Xuzhuang Township, Jizhou City. On June 16, he took their 84-year-old mother to the Municipal Committee 610 Office to inquire about his brother's situation. On June 21, the principal of his school asked Mr. Kang Yansu to deliver materials to the Educational Committee, thereby assisting the police with his arrest.

On June 23, Shang Wenling, Xia Shige and other practitioners from Xuzhuang Township, Jizhou City were arrested as well. Later, Xia Shengguo, Wang Pingjun and Zhu Xinkuan from Jizhong were arrested one after another.

In mid-July, Falun Gong practitioner Liu Ping from the No.2 People's Hospital in Hengshui City was arrested.

On August 5, practitioner Mr. Qi Zhengui, over 60, was arrested right after returning home from his trip to visit relatives in Northeast China.

On August 26, the police surrounded practitioner Ms. Yang Qiaoling's apartment. With the help of righteous thoughts, Ms. Yang stopped them from committing wrongful acts and then managed to escape. At about 11:30 p.m., on August 28, police officers broke into her home, but she wasn't there.

Thus far, there have been 13 Dafa practitioners arrested. All of them are held in the Hengshui City Detention Center. Also, they attempted to find out the organizer and person in charge of this incident. They accused Mr. Qiu Chaocang of being the organizer and intended to persecute him. They harassed Mr. Qin's family members and putting pressure on him and his family.

It was said that Li Junqu, the Secretary of the Municipal Committee, was very upset about this incident. He ordered that all of the practitioners who were involved be sentenced to a forced labor camp. He also planned and plotted the persecution of practitioners himself.

Chinese Authorities Issue Illegal Arrest Warrant, Forbid Liang Jinhui from Working with a Lawyer

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Liang Jinhui, a Falun Dafa practitioner and the brother of NTDTV Hong Kong journalist Liang Zhen, was detained illegally for 35 days. He was arrested under the order of the current Chinese Communist regime on August 23, 2005. The arrest warrant was issued unlawfully by the People's Procuratorate of Naxi District of Luzhou City. They delivered the warrant to the family members of Liang Zhen. For fear of being exposed, the warrant was not signed.

The family of Liang Zhen hired a lawyer. On August 24, 2005, the lawyer asked to see the person in charge. Gao, the person responsible for the cases of Liang Zhen's mother and brother in the National Security Division of Naxi District, Luzhou City, expressed the need to seek approval from higher authorities. Later the answer was that these cases involved "state secrets" and representation by a lawyer was forbidden during the investigation phase.

On July 19, 2005, Liang Jinhui and Yuan Yuju, mother of Liang Zhen, who is an American citizen and legal resident in Hong Kong, were unlawfully detained by the authorities in Luzhou City, Sichuan Province for practicing Falun Dafa. Three computers and other personal belongings, valued at 20,000 yuan, were confiscated (later, one computer and a digital camera were returned). On August 17, Yuan Yuju was sentenced to one year in a forced labor camp. She is temporarily held in the detention center of Jiangyang District, Luzhou City. Liang Jinhui is still being held in the detention center of Luzhou City.

Mr. Liang Jinhui, 36, is a very honest person. Before practicing Falun Gong, Liang Jinhui suffered from a mental disorder. After practicing Falun Gong in 1994, he regained his health in 2001. He, however, still needs to take medicine periodically. Due to his knowledge of computers, the Chinese communist authorities unlawfully detained him for over a month and then arrested him. Currently, the family members are still forbidden to see him.

Ms. Wang Huimin, Art Director of the Huacheng Publishing House in Guangzhou, Sent to Brainwashing Center

On August 16, 2005, undercover police arrested practitioner Wang Huimin, the art director of Huacheng Publishing House in Guangzhou, and sent her to the Sanshui Brainwashing Center. To date they have not allowed her family to visit. What we understand of the arrest is that her co-workers saw her passing out truth clarifying VCDs and reported her to the police.

Ms. Wang Huimin is 43 years old and has been to Beijing to validate Falun Dafa. She has been previously detained illegally in the 13^th Division of Changping Police Department in Beijing, and Dongshan Detention Center in Guangzhou.

From November 2001 to April 30, 2003, she was tortured in the Chatou Labor Camp in Guangzhou, and in a Brainwashing Center run by the Dongshan District. On November 14, 2001, the labor camp guards dragged her to the 3^rd Group Factory and cuffed her to the window for the whole night after they found her reciting Falun Dafa articles. During May and June of 2002, those in charge of the Dongshan District Brainwashing Center emptied out room 206 to use for torturing practitioners. They would not allow the practitioners to sit or sleep. Wang Huimin was locked in there for nine days. The first night they tortured her the prison guards poured water into the room, locked the door and turned the radio all the way up. In April of 2003 she went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. They finally let her go when her life was in danger.

The Persecution of Mr. Zou Chengmin from Jimo City, Shandong Province

Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zou Chengmin from Jimo City, Shandong Province was gravely ill before practicing Falun Dafa. His condition was such that he could have died at any moment. Fortunate to obtain the Fa in 1997, he changed dramatically in both mind and body in just a few short months. He was still celebrating the second life Falun Dafa gave to him when Jiang and his regime started the inhuman persecution and slandering of Falun Dafa on July 20, 1999.

When the persecution first began, many Falun Dafa practitioners in Jimo City went to sit in front of the government building to peacefully request the government to learn about Falun Gong positively. Jimo City police arrested more than ten Falun Dafa practitioners, and released them around 1 p.m. after the practitioners clarified the truth to them with kindness in their hearts. Nevertheless, the police still did something very low; they asked each practitioner to write down their name and address, with the promise that the government would solve the problem. Since Falun Dafa practitioners practice Truth-Compassion- Forbearance, each wrote down their real name and address. On the evening of the same day, the 610 Office took each of the practitioners into custody. Mr. Zou Chengmin was detained for one week and his Zhuan Falun book was taken away.

In June 2000, Mr. Zou Chengmin wrote to the chief of the police department to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa. He wrote that the Jiang and Luo regime's persecution of Falun Gong is illegal, and that the Jimo City 610 Office and police are also acting against the law in persecuting Falun Gong. Mr. Zou told them that Falun Dafa guides people towards goodness, improves health, has many benefits and brings no harm to the Chinese people. Three days later, he was arrested by the 610 Office and detained for 13 days. He was released because he held a hunger strike the entire time. During the detention, Mr. Zou was cruelly beaten. If he practiced Falun Dafa exercises in the cell at night the prison guards would poke him with bamboo sticks, curse him, and prevent him from practicing.

On the New Year's Day of 2000, Mr. Zou Chengmin went to Beijing to clarify the truth and validate Falun Dafa. He unfurled a self-made banner that said, "Falun Dafa is good!" and shouted from the bottom of his heart, "Falun Dafa is good! Falun Dafa is righteous!" Mr. Zou Chengmin was arrested, and being deceived by police at the Tiananmen Station, he wrote down his name and address again. The next day, the Jimo City Liaison Office in Beijing sent him to Jimo City Communist Party School (a brainwashing class), where 610 Office workers tried to use his family members to force him to give up cultivation. He walked out of that place after being detained for four days.

In the autumn of 2001, on October 2, Mr. Zou Chengmin went to Beijing to clarify the truth again and was arrested on Tiananmen Square. He returned home after four days since he refused to cooperate with the evil.

Subsequently, Mr. Zou Chengmin was reported by a janitor for passing out truth-clarifying materials in a clothing market. Policemen Jiang Bo (male) and Sun Jusen (male), leading more than ten policemen, smashed his door window, broke into his home, took Master's photo and 16 Falun Dafa books, and detained him in the Jimo City Detention Center. Mr. Zou Chengmin clarified the truth to the prison guards. One guard in his 60s often instructed a prisoner named Shi, (male, from Nanguan Village), to beat him. Mr. Zou was knocked unconscious on the second day.

In those 23 days that he was detained, Mr. Zou Chengming absolutely refused to cooperate with the evil, and went on a hunger strike the entire time. The 610 Office ordered four doctors and six prisoners to handcuff his hands behind a chair, tie him on the chair with rope, and force-feed him highly concentrated salt solution. Mr. Zou refused to cooperate, and the prisoners pulled his hair backwards, causing him to choke many times and become unconscious. His heels were bleeding due to being dragged on the ground. His throat bled many times due to the brutal force-feedings. At night, prison guards asked prisoners to beat him, not allowing him sleep, and not allowing him to wear clothes even though it was only 20^oF; they even poured cold water onto his body. In these 23 days, his weight reduced from 155 pounds to less than 110 pounds.

During both periods of detention, the 610 Office followed no legal procedures. One evening, the 610 Office workers abducted him, took him to Jimo Chinese Medicine Hospital, tied him inside a small room, and injected a poisonous drug that damages the central nervous system into his body. Mr. Zou suffered headaches, shivering, and weakness after being injected.

On February 27, 2002, Mr. Zou Chengmin was secretly abducted on the way to his friend's house by the 610 Office, and sent to Police Tongji Station. Policemen Jiang Bo and Sun Jusen took him to get a physical check up in the Jimo City Hospital. Mr. Zou Chengmin refused to cooperate with the evil, and shouted truth clarifying phrases in the hospital. Jiang and Sun were both scared, so they forced the doctor to write that Mr. Zou passed the test, and sent him to Licun Labor Camp. He was injected with an unknown drug in Licun Labor Camp.

Four Practitioners from Hebei, Liaoning and Hubei Provinces Who Died from Persecution

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Liu Xinyun was a 28-year-old middle schoolteacher from Shenzhou, Hubei Province. After July 20, 1999, Jiang's regime started persecuting Falun Dafa. Because Ms. Liu was steadfast in practicing Falun Dafa, the Shenzhou 610 Office repeatedly detained her in detention centers and sent her to brainwashing classes to persecute her. At the last brainwashing class, Ms. Liu became mentally unstable. When her family members brought her home, police officers placed her under house arrest. She never recovered. In the summer of 2000, she jumped from a fourth floor balcony. She was seriously injured and paralyzed from the neck down. After a few months of suffering, she died.

Mr. Hao Chengshuan was a 51-year-old villager from Huoshui Village, Huoshui Town, Wuan City, Hebei Province. Before practicing Falun Dafa he had many illnesses. After he practiced Falun Dafa his entire body was healed. Beginning July 20, 1999, the 610 Office from the village went to his house and harassed him numerous times. He was extremely stressed and passed away on September 21, 2000.

Ms. Guan Shuyun was 82 years old. She lived in the Dayang Management District in Weichang, Yangquanzi, Panshan County, Panjin City, Liaoning Province. She went to Beijing on December 17, 2000, to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa. When she returned home she continued to clarify the truth. Due to extended persecution, her living conditions were abominable. Later she got sick and died on November 4, 2004.

Mr. Liu Xuewen was 75 years old. He lived in the Qiaoko District of Wuhan City, Hebei Province. After he started practicing Falun Dafa in 1994, he became very healthy and his thoughts became very clear. Even though he was over 70, his eyesight was very good. When he joined the group in reading the Fa aloud, he didn't even need glasses. After July 20, 1999, the police often went to his house to harass him. Mr. Liu died at his son's home in Yunnan on January 30, 2003, from stress related-illness caused by the prolonged threats and intimidation.

Reflections on the Procuratorate's Rejection of Persecution Attempts

Recently, the police arrested six Falun Dafa practitioners in a certain town of our county and held them in a detention center. They also confiscated a computer from one practitioner's home. Thinking that they had found a truth-clarification materials production site, the policemen clamored to have the practitioners sentenced. When they checked with the Procuratorate they were rejected on the grounds that there was "insufficient evidence." Practitioners in the county unified together to send righteous thoughts and used other measures to rescue them. Because of this, the six practitioners were all released from the detention center.

A practitioner told me before that she used to clarify the truth face to face to officials in the Procuratorate. Although they didn't completely accept the truth at the time, they gradually came to understand a lot. I myself have also given them truth-clarification materials and played truth-clarification tapes in their cars for them. Last year two practitioners in my county went to Beijing to send righteous thoughts. They were arrested and sent to a brainwashing center in my county. At the time I wrote a letter to the Procuratorate. In the letter I wrote, "I'm now reporting to you that two Falun Dafa practitioners have been arrested and detained in such-and-such place. According to our country's Constitution, this action constitutes the crime of illegal detention. I would like to request that the Procuratorate please follow the law and fulfill your sacred duty, investigate and punish those who were responsible and maintain the integrity of the law and citizen's legal rights."

Each instance of our practitioner's Fa-validation and truth-clarification may, at the time, not have an effect, but the effect it has in other dimensions is enormous. The Procuratorate's attitude shows that everything a practitioner does has an effect. As long as we practitioners have righteous thoughts in our minds and compassionately and solidly clarify the truth to the world's people, including people in different classes and different organizations, the evil in other dimensions will have less space to commit wrongful deeds and will eventually be completely eliminated.

Falun Gong Practitioner Aunt Lian Fearlessly Clarifies the Truth

(Clearwisdom.net) There is an over 70-year-old Falun Gong practitioner, Aunt Lian (alias), in our area. She is a Falun Gong local contact person and the only local contact person who has never been arrested in this area. Aunt Lian has strong righteous thoughts. She has no fear in clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. Every day, she chats and clarifies the truth at places in the village where many people congregate. She is good at it.

Sometimes, Aunt Lian clarifies the truth to elderly people. Occasionally, she talks to young folks. She also clarifies the truth to young children through story telling. Many people have resigned from the Chinese Communist Party after listening to her.

Soon after the persecution started, Aunt Lian wrote a letter to all the government officials of the village. In the letter she mentioned, "Don't throw this letter away. Let's meet at the time when the Fa rectifies the human world," in order for the officials to compare their actual situation with what she talked about in the letter. As a result, those officials not only kept her letter, but also told us about the letter. They said, "The writing level of her letter is really good. You guys tell me who has this kind of writing level?" Actually, Aunt Lian only has a grade school education. It is Dafa that gives her such wisdom and skills.

Aunt Lian's husband was a government official before he passed away. He had very good moral character. Even now, there are still a lot of his old colleagues that come to visit Aunt Lian. Aunt Lian clarifies the truth about Falun Gong to each of them, including officials from the police station and the local government. Those people are completely convinced by her words.

Once, a group of people went to her home to argue with her, trying to get her to renounce Falun Gong. She dealt with them by herself. After they went back home, those people said, "What kind of person is this old lady? Not only could we not persuade her, but also we could not even answer her questions." Another time, the party secretary of the town went to her home because of Falun Gong. Aunt Lian told the secretary, "Please sit down and wait for me. Let me finish the fourth posture of the 2^nd set of Falun Gong exercises first." The secretary really sat there and waited for her and thought, "This old lady is more and more courageous. She is not afraid of being seen doing the exercises!" Only after Aunt Lian finished her exercise did she start to clarify the truth to the party secretary.

When Aunt Lian saw the village policemen arrest Falun Gong practitioners, she went to the police station to clarify the truth to the officers. Officials of the police station could not throw her out of there since it was pouring rain. After she finished clarifying the truth, the rain stopped. Aunt Lian said happily to the official, "Ok, I'm finished and the rain has stopped. I'd like to go now." As a result, our village policemen would never arrest Falun Gong practitioners again. Sometimes, when they received orders to search Falun Gong practitioners' homes, they faked the search and even told us privately, "Hide your [Falun Dafa] books, don't let those people find them."

Aunt Lian is never afraid of evil people coming to arrest her. She tells me all the time, "Don't be afraid. I am a mountain. They cannot move me a bit." Therefore, there is nobody that dares to bother her. Once, while she was studying Zhuan Falun at home, some policemen rushed in. She did not have enough time to hide her book. So, she thought in her mind, "They cannot see my book." As a result, the policemen could not see Zhuan Falun. They sat on the side of a table and just looked at some ordinary people's books.

Aunt Lian has helped many people to practice Falun Gong. She has helped many practitioners who wavered due to the persecution to become Falun Gong practitioners again. Also, she has helped many wicked people who were deceived by the anti-Falun Gong slander to know the truth of Falun Gong.

Eliminating the Attachment to Shame

(Clearwisdom.net) Six months ago, I was not studying the Fa well and had to spend lots of time changing jobs, so my cultivation was not solid. This made me feel ashamed and very sad when I did Dafa work. I did not realize this was an attachment that needed to be eliminated.

I felt this way for a long time. One night I had a dream, in which I saw Teacher sitting in front of me saying, "You are attached to shame." I asked, "Teacher, am I really attached to shame?" Teacher answered, "Yes, you are. I cannot say much more, since you have to cultivate."

When I woke up, I realized that my attachment to shame was a big hurdle. As Teacher answered in "Explaining the Fa During the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference:"

"Question: You've said that everything of today's human society was brought about by Dafa disciples' thoughts. I often find that my own attachments have caused things to turn out even worse. May I ask Master how to break free from this?

"Teacher: It's not a big deal if you haven't done well. Just do things well next time and try to find out where the problem was. There's a prominent phenomenon in you folks' cultivation, which is, after you haven't done something well, you're only overwhelmed with regret, and you don't do it over. If you regret it too much then that's another attachment. Once you've done something wrong, seen where it was wrong, and recognized it, then do it well next time, do it over. If you trip and fall, and just keep lying there instead of getting up, (audience laughs) then that's no good."

During this last stage of the Fa rectification, we must eliminate all our attachments. The old forces can exploit any of our remaining attachments to interfere with Fa rectification. Therefore, we must study the Fa well and do the three things solidly to be worthy of our title of Fa-rectification-period disciples.

My Husband Has Experienced Teacher's Compassion Again and Again

(Clearwisdom.net) I was fortunate to have learned Falun Dafa in April of 1997 without any interference from my family, but after the persecution started on July 20, 1999, my husband grew ever more fearful of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In order to protect himself, he not only hindered my practicing Falun Gong, but also betrayed me to the police. After Teacher saved him three times, however, he finally attained Dafa and became a practitioner.

The first miracle occurred one day around 8 p.m. in mid-November 2004 when my husband suddenly felt pain and difficulty in urinating. At that time, I told him it would improve after he recited the words, "Falun Dafa is good" and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good." This he did, and afterwards he felt a little bit better. Next, I read to him Lunyu nine times (from Zhuan Falun) and "the Issue of Treating Illness" in Lecture Seven of Zhuan Falun, and then he felt much better. The next morning, he went to the hospital to see a doctor, and while waiting to register, he went to the bathroom. Suddenly, a stone two centimeters long and a nearly a centimeter wide came out when he urinated. It was Dafa that prevented him from suffering through an operation.

The second miracle occurred in February 2005 when he had pneumonia. My husband was treated with medicines, and at the same time he recited, "Falun Dafa is good." Ten days later, his health improved dramatically, and my husband, who is over 60 years old, knew that he was protected by Dafa. I told him that he had a predestined relationship with Dafa and that he should practice cultivation in Dafa. He replied with a "Yes," but took no further action.

The third miracle was on the morning of May 21, 2005, when my husband suffered a stroke. One side of his mouth and an eye fell limp. Additionally, the entire right side of his body could not move. After having an MRI, he was diagnosed with blockage of many blood vessels in his brainstem area, and his cerebrum also had several clogged blood vessels.

I told my husband, "The last two times, Teacher cured your illnesses to awaken you. However, as soon as you recovered you forgot about learning Dafa. This time, are you determined to learn Dafa or not?" He replied: "Yes." After checking in to the hospital, he listened to the tape recordings of Teacher's lectures over and over while lying in bed. A week later, he could go to the bathroom himself and use a spoon to eat, and 21 days later, he checked out of the hospital.

People who knew the truth all wanted to learn Dafa. The doctor who was in charge of my husband's treatment also wondered, "How could he recover so quickly?" After coming back home, my husband persisted in studying Dafa and practicing the Falun Gong exercises. By doing so, he totally recovered in health.

Members of Theatrical Troupe That Slandered Falun Dafa Receive Karmic Retribution

Editors' Note: These incidents should not have occurred, but the Jiang regime's shameless defamations cause those who do not have the ability of discerning the truth to hate Dafa. Their lies have caused those who do not have righteous minds to consciously persecute Falun Dafa for their own personal gain and to protect their own benefits. They incite those people with greed for power and money to persecute Dafa disciples in order to be given a pay raise or promoted. However, heavenly principles are just. The truth that good is rewarded with good and evil behavior is met with bad consequences is an absolute and cannot be bypassed. Hopefully people will abstain from evil deeds that aim at damaging Dafa (the teachings of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance) and act with conscience.

(Clearwisdom.net) The theatrical troupe of Linqu County, Shandong Province enjoyed a good reputation locally. A serious car accident on August 27, 2005, however, caused people to talk about the troupe a lot more. In the accident, the troupe's director, Zhang Laixin, deputy director Du Lanling, and actress Wang Hongxia all died. Du Lanling's two daughters (both actresses), as well as a musician, were severely injured.

Those aware of the inside stories all knew that the troupe proactively cooperated with its supervising organizations' evil orders in order to fish for fame and gain after the Communist Party and Jiang's regime began to persecute Falun Dafa on July 20, 1999. Ignoring the facts about Falun Dafa, the troupe arranged programs slandering Falun Dafa and performed road shows in the county. The troupe misled people and incited hatred against Falun Dafa by making use of their fondness for literature. The troupe not only persecuted Falun Dafa themselves but also indirectly caused the public to commit crimes against Falun Dafa, creating very bad consequences.

The heavens have rules and will punish those who have committed crimes, whether or not people know or believe in them. When humans ignore them, the rules of the heavens must punish them. Local people became puzzled after the accident and asked, "Is it possible that good is rewarded with good and evil is rewarded with retribution?!"

Gods and Buddhas are merciful to people, giving people opportunities to realize and correct their mistakes. However, time is limited. There are standards for measuring lives. Frequent disasters show that God is warning human beings in the maze. People should therefore treat Falun Dafa well and preserve good futures for themselves.

(Clearwisdom.net) A "solemn declaration" is a person's public statement declaring to the world that whatever he or she has done or said under duress or deception that was against Falun Dafa is null and void. Most of these statements have come from Falun Dafa practitioners in China who wished to express regret that, in the face of physical torture and brainwashing, they had signed documents renouncing Dafa and guaranteeing not to practice again. Also, as more and more people in China learn the truth about how they have been deceived and lied to by the Jiang regime, many non-practitioners are also submitting "solemn declarations."

Facts of the Persecution

1. Evil Deeds of Diao Kefu, the Formal Party Committee Secretary of the Oil Extraction Factory at the Shengli Oilfield, Shandong Province

Prior to the start of the persecution on July 20, 1999, Diao Kefu, Formal Party Committee Secretary of the Oil Extraction Factory at the Shengli Oilfield, used various methods to interfere with Dafa practitioners doing their Falun Gong exercises. When Jiang Zemin's regime began the unlawful persecution of Falun Gong, Diao used his authority to slander Falun Dafa, and made up lies to confuse the public. He held team meetings of various levels and ordered each individual political or Chinese Communist Party (CCP) unit to try to control Falun Gong activities in their area of responsibility. He ordered thorough investigations of Dafa practitioners and compiled a list of their names; he organized and strictly controlled brainwashing sessions; he expropriated salaries and bonuses from Dafa practitioners; he carried out unlawful tracking, surveillance, and phone tapping of practitioners; and he ordered arrests and detentions of Dafa practitioners. He also implicated family members of practitioners, and told them they would lose their jobs if their relatives continued practicing Falun Dafa.

2. Evil Deeds of Policeman Sun Zhanbiao in Jiamusi Prison, Heilongjiang Province

Sun Zhanbiao was a Political Director of Section Four and then later became director of Section Two in Jiamusi Prison. He often used cruel methods, such as sleep deprivation and hanging Dafa practitioners by their arms to torture them. While he was in Section Four, he beat Dafa practitioner Feng Guoqing until he passed out; he also tortured Zhang Yuansen until he became mentally imbalanced for some time. After Sun was transferred to Section Two, he put restrictions on Dafa practitioner Sun Lifu, not allowing him to leave his cell for more than five months. Since September 1 of this year, Sun has encouraged prisoners to beat Dafa practitioner Tian Shiwu. On September 9, under orders from Sun Zhanbiao and Ma Changshun, prisoners beat Tian Shiwu until his whole body was covered with wounds and he could hardly move.
