Letter to Eutelsat Chairman

May 19, 2005

Mr. Giuliano Berretta Chairman and CEO Eutelsat S.A. 70, rue
Balard F-75502 Paris Cedex 15 France

Dear Mr. Beretta

My name is Kevin Koo I am a 17 year old Canadian citizen who is
deeply sadden to hear that Eutelsat is considering ending
transmissions of NTDTV into China. I have been following this
issue very closely because I feel that my fellow brothers and
sisters in China and all around the world deserve to hear the
truth about the world. Is it wrong that a station wants to
broadcast the truth into China? Truth something that China has
been lacking since the rise of the Chinese Communist Party, with
NTDTV there were new hopes of brining back truth to the country
and its people. China wishes to end the transmission because they
are scared, scared that the truth will ruin their corrupt regime.

From what I learned in history class is that within the deep
history of France there was the period of the French Revolution.
As you know during this period, it was a time or reform and
change. During this time the Third Estate was demanding equality
in France, however, they were locked out of the meeting hall by
King Louis XVI. These people of the third estate vowed to meet
until France had a constitution. The National Assembly was formed
and the Tennis Court Oath was put in place, these people from the
Third Estate agreed to meet until a Constitution was passed. One
of the requests written in the "Cahier de Doleances" was asking
for freedom of speech and freedom of press. When the "Declaration
of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen" was passed in 1791 one
of the articles written was the freedom of communication. It
stated:

The free communication of ideas and opinions is one of the most
precious of the right of man. Every citizen may, accordingly,
speak, write, and print with freedom…

Today, I am writing to you to ask that you help in the cause of
continuing with this amendment. The people in China deserve the
same rights and freedoms, they also deserve to hear the truth
just as France and the rest of the world does. With the end of
the transmissions of NTDTV it will end their right to freedom,
and shatter their hopes of being a free country. I am asking you
to please do not deprive these people of this right, they deserve
to hear the truth, and they deserve to see what goes outside the
high walls and blockades set by the Chinese Communist Party.
Please continue broadcasting NTDTV in to China for the sake of
letting people know the truth

Thank you for taking your time to read my thoughts

Sincerely,

Kevin Koo
