Concerned People Telling the World about Falun Gong and the Persecution in China: 2005-09-25

(Clearwisdom.net) On September 28, 2005, Ottawa practitioners held an urgent appeal to call on the Canadian government to bar Xia Deren, Dalian Mayor and Deputy Governor of Liaoning Province, from entering Canada. Xia is scheduled to hold a business visit to Canada on September 30. Practitioners also held an anti-torture exhibition with live models to expose the persecution. The event coincided with the "Hands Across the Border" charity barbecue on Parliament Hill organized by the four major Canadian parties. The practitioners' appeal and anti-torture exhibition attracted the attention of thousands.

Renowned human rights lawyer David Matas wrote to the relevant Canadian officials, including the Ministers of Public Safety, Immigration and Foreign Affairs on August 25 to ask the Canadian government to deny visas to perpetrators of the persecution. Mr. Matas pointed out that based on Canada's Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Program, one would be denied entry to Canada if he were found guilty of crimes against humanity. He said that if such officials were allowed to enter Canada, it's sending a message that Canada condones genocide and human rights violations. He said that Canada must act according to international human rights agreements and Canada's Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Program. Victims of such crimes should not be left to fend for themselves.

MP Kilgour said in his speech, "There can be no doubt in anyone's mind that the Chinese government persecutes Falun Gong practitioners mercilessly across China for what is perfectly legal in virtually every other country on earth. Despite its claims that there is freedom of religious conscience in China, Falun Gong practitioners continue to be victimized across the country. I urge the government to follow the letter of its own law and respect the rights of its citizens." The MP also said: "[I]...agree fully that these individuals should not be permitted to enter Canada on the basis of their complicity in the violation of the human rights of Falun Gong practitioners."

Liaoning Province and Dalian City are two of the worst offenders in the persecution. In June 2003, the Federal District Court of the Northern California found Xia responsible for torture, cruel, inhumane, or degrading treatment, arbitrary detention, crimes against humanity, and interference with freedom of religion and belief.

By the end of January 2004, Canada's Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Program (CCAHWCP) established a list of 45 Chinese officials from each level of Party Committees, "610 Offices," local governments and forced labor camps that are responsible for the persecution of Falun Gong for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Xia Deren was included in the list. According to Canadian laws, if anyone on the list attempts to enter Canada, a prompt investigation could take place, potentially resulting in refusal of visas to Canada, deportation, charges and punishment based on Canada's laws governing crimes against humanity and war crimes.

In the beginning of this September, Bo Xilai, former Governor of Liaoning Province, was scheduled to visit Canada with Chinese President Hu. Bo is also in the CCAHWCP's watch list. By the time of Hu's visit, Bo's name disappeared from the delegation's list. Analysts believed that that incident was related to the strong voice of the Canadian public, lawyers, MPs and supporters of Falun Gong.

Reportedly, on July 10, a Dalian official website announced that Xia and his delegation would hold a Dalian City Job Fair in either Vancouver or Toronto on September 30. However, that web page was recently removed.

According to 2003 data from the CCAHWCP, 581 people were denied entry to Canada from 1999 to 2000 for suspected involvement in crimes against humanity and war crimes. This figure varied to 644 for 2000-2001 and 445 for 2001-2002. An official of the CCAHWCP said that Canada doesn't need to give any explanation to such individuals for denial of entry.

(Clearwisdom.net) At noon on September 28, Toronto practitioners gathered in front of the district office of the Canadian Federal Immigration Minister to call on the government to bar Xia Deren from entering Canada. The deputy governor of Liaoning Province and Mayor of Dalian city is scheduled to visit Canada on September 30.

Practitioners' spokesman Joel Chipkar said that Xia is notorious for implementing and overseeing the policy of torture and killing, and was found responsible for torture and genocide by a Northern California Court.

"The death toll of practitioners in China is increasing everyday. If such an official is allowed to enter Canada, it signals that Canada has forgiven the atrocities. The Canadian Government must bar criminals of this kind from entering its borders," Chipkar stressed.

Mr. Yang of the Falun Dafa Association said that as of September 27, it has been verified that 53 practitioners have been persecuted to death in Dalian and 10 of these deaths took place in 2005. Dalian is one of the cities in which practitioners have been persecuted most rampantly, and as Mayor of the city, Xia must be held accountable.

According to Chipkar, Xia is in a CAHWACP's watch list of 45 Chinese officials who have committed crimes against humanity. They are subjected to denial of entry or visa and could be deported or sued. Bo Xilai, former Governor of Liaoning Province, was also on the list. Bo was scheduled to visit Canada with Chinese President Hu; however, he disappeared from the delegation list before the trip.

(Clearwisdom.net) At 1 o'clock on September 28, 2005, practitioners held a press conference in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery to call on the federal government to bar entry to Dalian Mayor Xia Deren, who is known to be a key perpetrator of the persecution against Falun Gong. Xia was found in default of crimes against humanity by a U.S. court. Xia was scheduled to visit Canada on September 30.

During the press conference, practitioner Zhang Chunyu gave a speech. He said his mother, Yang Huizhen, was illegally arrested for the third time on May 24, 2004, by police in Dandong City, Liaoning Province. His mother was subsequently detained in the Baifang Detention Center of Dandong City. Almost at the same time of his mother's arrest, police officers broke into his sister Zhang Chungang's home and illegally arrested her. Chungang is now being detained in the notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. Mr. Zhang Chunyu strongly called for help to stop the persecution, and specifically called on the federal government to bar Xia Deren from entering Canada.

Practitioners read a letter written by David Matas, renowned human rights lawyer, to the Minister of Public Safety and Immigration. Mr. Matas said that based on Canada's Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Program, one should be denied entry to Canada if he is suspected of crimes against humanity. Mr. Matas said that he believed Xia Deren has committed crimes against humanity.

Senior MP David Kilgour once said that there was no doubt that the Chinese government persecutes Falun Gong practitioners mercilessly across China, and that he believes the perpetrators of the persecution should not be permitted to enter Canada.

Xia is from Liaoning Province, notorious for relentlessly persecuting Falun Gong. As deputy governor of Liaoning Province and Mayor of Dalian city, Xia has been supervising and directing persecution against practitioners. To date, 340 practitioners have been persecuted to death in Liaoning province. This represents the third highest death toll among the provinces in China. Moreover, in Liaoning Province, Dalian City is one of the cities which persecutes Falun Gong the most severely. As of September 27, 2005, 53 practitioners have been persecuted to death in Dalian.

(Clearwisdom.net) The sixth Hsinzhu Rice Noodle Festival was held on September 24 and 25, and attracted many local residents. Local practitioners were invited to the festival. They set up a booth to introduce the "Rescue Falun Gong Orphans" project to tell the local people what Falun Gong is, to expose the brutal persecution taking place in China, and to call for support to rescue orphaned children of practitioners in Mainland China.

As soon as the festival started, a lot of people came to the practitioners' booth for more information. Through the practitioners' introduction, they learned about the persecution, which has claimed the lives of at least 2,732 practitioners and that has orphaned many children of those practitioners. Many of these orphaned children have been forced to leave their homes, discriminated against and expelled from school.

One gentleman firmly expressed his support to the practitioners and said that the practitioners' signature campaign was a necessary activity. He also said that all practitioners looked very kind and that the charges by the Chinese Communist Party against practitioners were obviously fabricated. He also acquired information about local practice sites and expressed interest in learning Falun Gong. .

There were also several people who wished to offer financial help to the Falun Gong orphans. In addition, they all asked for information about practice sites near their homes and expressed the wish to learn the five sets of exercises.

When he was told that practitioners were collecting signatures to rescue orphans persecuted in China, his expression became very serious and said: "Please look after my child for a moment, I will sign." The practitioner was very touched, she knelt down and gave a Falun Dafa bookmark to the little one. At the same time, the father signed a postcard to U.S. President George Bush calling for action to rescue Falun Gong orphans.

A couple who had learned the truth asked: "Are you always telling passersby about Falun Gong like you are now?" A practitioner nodded his head. They were very surprised and impressed. The practitioner thanked them for signing the postcard to President Bush.

During the festival, there were also some children who had never heard about Falun Gong. After listening to the practitioners' explanation, they learned that Falun Gong teaches people to be good individuals by always telling the truth, doing good deeds, putting others first and being more tolerant. They could not understand why the Chinese Communist Party would persecute Falun Gong, as they know that good people should not be persecuted and wicked people are doomed to be punished. Many children, after learning the truth, signed their names to support the orphan rescue effort.

Practitioners from Canada, Taiwan, New Zealand and the United States came to support the effort using their vacation or spare time. Many New Yorkers have seen the exhibitions multiple times, but tourists from different countries said that they had learned a lot from the exhibitions.

A Chinese tourist from Tianjin said: "I have long doubted the Tiananmen Self-Immolation. However, I didn't dare to question it, as I didn't have clear evidence. Now, I have seen the evidence and can tell others when I get back."

A business manager said: "I have not only read your materials but also signed your petition. In addition, I also asked all my employees to sign it."

(Clearwisdom.net) On September 17, Falun Gong practitioners participated in the annual Mersin Festival hosted by the Mersin city government. The practitioners' on-stage demonstration and information booth attracted a lot attention from the audience and media outlets.

On the stage, practitioners gave an introduction of Falun Gong and demonstrated the five sets of exercises to the peaceful and elegant Falun Gong music. The demonstration attracted the attention of numerous spectators. The whole site was immersed in an atmosphere of peace and serenity, and people were delighted by the demonstration and music. When the practitioners finished, they received a warm round of applause and much praise.

A number of Turkish TV stations and newspaper reporters were present at the festival, and they all showed great interest in Falun Dafa. Sun TV broadcast the festival, including the practitioners' demonstration, twice during the following week as major local news.

The practitioners' participation in this festival received full support from the local government. For example, the Mersin government printed color brochures and large banners that read "Falun Dafa" and "Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance" for practitioners. In addition, to facilitate the practitioners' activities such as onsite teaching, the government designated an area in the festival venue for the practitioners' use. In fact, the practitioners have received a lot of help and support from the government over the past year.

When the curtain of night dropped, the celebration had already concluded hours before. However, there were still many people lingering around the practitioners' booth. People came in succession to learn the practice or learn about the truth of Falun Gong. The megaphones played Falun Dafa music continuously, bringing boundless compassion to the peaceful night. During this one-day event, practitioners once again demonstrated the beauty of Falun Dafa to the local people.

Many people came to acquire materials and contact information of local practice sites. Practitioners also told them about the ongoing brutal persecution in China. Without exception, they all expressed sympathy and support for the practitioners in China.

As the expo drew to a close, the organizers arranged a one-hour Falun Gong seminar. Practitioners then introduced Falun Dafa and its worldwide spread in more detail, and also demonstrated the five sets of Falun Gong exercises. Answering questions from the audience, they stressed that cultivation must emphasize xinxing. They also explained why the Chinese Communist Party and Jiang Zemin would collude to persecute Falun Dafa. All of the seminar participants signed the practitioners' petition, and many also expressed great interest in and support for the "Rescue Falun Gong Orphans Persecuted in China" project.

International Rescue Efforts Show Defeat of CCP's Lies

(Clearwisdom.net) On September 21, 2005, more than six years after the Chinese Communist Party began persecuting Falun Gong, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Weixun was able to come to the United States as a refugee under protection by the United Nations High Commission on Refugees (UNHCR). Ms. Li does not have any family in the United States. This is not just a matter of Ms. Li beginning a new life in which she can freely practice her faith, but a statement by the international community of support for Falun Gong. It demonstrates the result of Falun Gong practitioners' tireless efforts to clarify the facts, and signifies a defeat for the tyranny that persecutes Falun Gong.

To those who have been deceived by the lies of the CCP and do not understand the persecution, the abuse Ms. Li experienced may be hard to believe. The police tortured her to the point where her limbs could not move and her life was in danger. Even then, they did not stop. Four policemen were assigned to watch her at her home 24 hours a day. When she was able to escape from her own home, her brother, who assisted her in the escape, was sentenced to eight years in prison and is still imprisoned today. The reason the CCP persecuted her was because she, along with millions of other Falun Gong practitioners, insisted in her faith in Falun Gong and exposed the truth of the persecution.

What Ms. Li experienced was not unusual among the millions of Falun Gong practitioners who were abused under the CCP's policy of "ruining their reputation, bankrupting them financially, and destroying them physically." She was very fortunate compared with the over 2,700 practitioners who have been confirmed killed by the CCP using torture, drugs, and other despicable means.

Ms. Li's successful relocation could not have happened without efforts by the international community. These efforts stemmed from an understanding of Falun Gong's benevolent nature and of the evil, inhumane persecution by the CCP. The CCP's lies fabricated to persecute Falun Gong in the last six years were exposed and defeated.

When the CCP and the group led by Jiang Zemin first started using the entire nation's resources to slander and persecute Falun Gong in July 1999, they tried to brainwash not only the Chinese public, but also governments of other countries. Jiang personally handed material defaming and slandered Falun Gong to leaders of other countries during state visits.

Suddenly, media all over China were full of lies about Falun Gong. In October 2000, the People's Congress hastily passed laws to legitimize the persecution after the fact. The Supreme Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate "interpreted" the laws so that the legal and law enforcement systems could persecute Falun Gong. It seemed as though the Jiang group has laid out a nice setup to deceive the entire world.

When the Chinese public grew tired of the lies spread in the media about Falun Gong, and when even some perpetrators of the persecution could find no faults in Falun Gong, on the eve of the Chinese New Year in 2001, on Tiananmen Square, a tragic drama unfolded in which five people set themselves on fire. The incident instigated hatred against Falun Gong in the hearts of many people who were previously sympathetic to the practitioners. A new round of lies to slander Falun Gong began worldwide.

But no matter how wicked the lies, they cannot stop the spread of the truth. Today, despite the lies, people in nearly 80 countries practice Falun Gong. The so-called "Tiananmen Self-Immolation" has become evidence of the Jiang group's sinister persecution of Falun Gong. Although Jiang brutally ordered to "kill without mercy" the Falun Gong practitioners who spread the truth about the self-immolation incident, Falun Gong practitioners' courage, peaceful resistance, rationality, and persistence showed the world the greatness of a noble belief. Today, UNHCR not only openly protected Ms. Li, a Falun Gong practitioner persecuted by the CCP, but also worked together with the United States government to relocate Ms. Li. Their resolute actions spoke volumes about the defeat of the CCP's lies and persecution.

As the truth about the persecution continues to be revealed, as more and more people learn the importance of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance in their lives, the entire international community will be more and more opposed to the wicked persecution. By then, it's no longer just an issue of rescuing Falun Gong practitioners in China, but an effort of all the righteous forces in the world directly taking action to stop the persecution. The tyranny will completely collapse. Kind-hearted people will see that the great faith of Falun Gong will bring mankind a bright future.

The Hong Kong Administration Needs To Revisit Rationality

(Clearwisdom.net) In 2003, eighty Falun Gong practitioners, including a ten-year-old child, traveled to Hong Kong for a Falun Gong event. Alas, at the Hong Kong airport, Hong Kong authorities refused entry, accusing them of being "security risks." They have applied for judicial review and the high court heard their case beginning September 20, 2005. During the oral arguments on September 23, the Hong Kong government refused to provide evidence of their contention, the "Immigration Watch List." According to the plaintiffs, the Hong Kong government denied the judge's request more than ten times under the pretext "security reasons." The judge found such contention "irrational."

One can assume that if the Hong Kong government makes public the "Immigration Watch List," it will become known that those named on the list are Falun Gong practitioners. The true reason for Hong Kong's government groundlessly "barring practitioners from entering Hong Kong" will become public record. There will be legal documents recording government misconduct, and the. Jiang regime's (which provided the watch list) crime will be exposed. Not wanting to face condemnation for "Discriminating based on people's belief," Hong Kong's government refused to provide the appropriate evidence. Instead, it refused repeatedly to honor the judges' request and provide the watch list, hiding behind the excuse of "security reasons." Such flagrant disregard of a judge's order is insupportable and condemned by the court and Hong Kong's populace.

This irrational contempt of the court began with the illogical actions by the Hong Kong government in February 2003, when Hong Kong practitioners held an experience sharing conference. Eighty Falun Gong practitioners from Taiwan traveled to Hong Kong to attend the event. Without explanation, the government barred all eighty ractitioners from entering Hong Kong. This is an contemptible human rights violation by the Hong Kong government who behaved as a puppet of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). This event has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong to the world's people. The Hong Kong government effectively railroaded the city's environment of freedom of belief. This is indeed an irrational act by the Hong Kong government.

The administration's absurdity was also reflected by its harassment and slander during Falun Gong practitioners' peaceful appeals. On March 14, 2002, four Falun Gong practitioners from Switzerland and 12 from Hong Kong held a peaceful sit-in appeal and hunger strike in front of Hong Kong's Chinese Liaison Office. The intent was to expose and condemn the former Chinese President Jiang Zemin's secret orders to shoot Falun Gong practitioners. Several hours into the appeal, at the request of the P.R.C.'s Liaison Office, Hong Kong policemen arrived at the appeal site and forcefully arrested the sixteen practitioners. Subsequently, the police filed charges against the practitioners for "obstruction of the sidewalk" and "attacking police." Fortunately, in May of 2005, Hong Kong's supreme court overturned these convictions. The practitioners, who were accused of assaulting and obstructing police, were exonerated.

The absurd actions by the Hong Kong government continued with its efforts to promote Article 23 legislation. Such legislation was intended to bring the China's inhuman persecution of Falun Gong practitioner to Hong Kong. Using Article 23, criminal charges, including "overturning the country's government," "leaking the country's secrets," and "participating in banned organizations," were to be leveled against practitioners. Further objectives of the government were to curtail Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners' legal rights and prevent distribution of Falun Gong truth clarification material into China through Hong Kong.

Everyone knows that the illogical behavior by Hong Kong's government had roots in the insane persecution by Jiang's regime. Even at that time, people realized fully well that the persecution of Falun Gong was being extended from Mainland China to Hong Kong, and that Hong Kong's populace would also be directly harmed. Consequently, 500,000 people of Hong Kong's populace partook in the large anti-Article 23 parade on July 1, 2002. This parade triggered the death of the Article 23 legislation.

In a society that is truly governed by law, the government will not interfere with people's freedom of belief, especially when they believe in the principles "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance."

Using the excuse of "security reasons," the Hong Kong government refused to provide the immigration watch list containing Falun Gong practitioners' names. Yet it cannot escape the "human rights violation" and "discrimination based on belief" charges, nor can it hide that the CCP controls the Hong Kong government. It can no longer keep secret that the long arm of the persecution of Falun Gong has reached into Hong Kong. Moreover, people will know that the Hong Kong government helped the CCP in its persecution of Falun Gong. This is truly foolish.

In fact, the Hong Kong government has to some extent been supportive of Falun Gong. In 2001, when the persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang's regime was at its height, the Hong Kong's government approved the practitioners' application to use government property for a large-scale experience sharing conference. During the conference, no practitioner was interfered with or harassed by the Hong Kong government.

Today, the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong is nearing its end. Not only people overseas, but also many people from within China have come to know the goodness of Falun Dafa and the evilness of the CCP. In particular, after publication of the book Nine Commentaries on Communist Party, people have woken up and become aware of the CCP's evil nature. They also now understand the harm the persecution did to Falun Gong. Thus, many people publicly withdrew from the CCP and all associated organizations. Countless people have broken away from the evil and become clear-headed and rational.

The evil is being annihilated. The Hong Kong government should become rational, regain its conscience and duty to dispense justice fairly. Such criteria are the fundamentals for judging right from wrong. If the Hong Kong government can truly resist the evil's pressure and protect Hong Kong's free environment, allowing practitioners to practice Falun Gong, it will have returned to true rationality and shown that it protects the rights of Hong Kong's populace.

Facts of the Persecution

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Liu Qianqian was 33 years old. She was arrested in 2002 and secretly sentenced to three years in prison. She had been locked up in the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison, and was forced to go through brainwashing sessions and do heavy labor all day long. On June 19, 2005, Ms. Liu Qianqian was released home, but was as thin as a skeleton. Her veins could be clearly seen popping out, and her esophagus and stomach were festering due to infections. Ms. Liu Qianqian (used name Liu of Dongmei) lived in Shangzhi Town, Shangzhi City, Heilongjiang Province. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1996. After July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin's regime started persecuting Falun Gong. In order to speak out for Falun Dafa, she went to Beijing to appeal and was arrested. She was detained three times in the Shangzhi City Detention Center. Ms. Liu was brutally beaten during periods of detention. The City Police Department's Political and Security Office Head Yu Jinfang (male) shouted, "I will for sure make your family go bankrupt from fines!"

Later, Ms. Liu was sentenced to one year of forced labor and tortured in Wanjia Labor Camp in Harbin City. She went through cruel brainwashing and had her hair pulled out by prison guards due to refusing to accept the brainwashing. She was handcuffed for more than twenty days, and was hung up by rope tied around her wrists all day. She grew scabs all over her body and could not sleep since it was very itchy. She was skin and bones when she was released one year later.

During 2002, after Ms. Liu Qianqian was released, she was arrested again in May because she was found passing out truth clarifying materials. She was then detained for 9 months in Shangzhi City First and Second Detention Centers. She was soon sentenced to three years in the Heilongjiang Province Women Prison in Harbin City. The lawless officials did not allow her family to visit her during these three years. Prison guards beat and cursed practitioners at will, stripped off practitioners' clothes in the freezing winter when the temperature was as low as 4^oF below zero, and forced practitioners stay out in the snow for 7 days.

Due to being detained in the dark and humid cells, Ms. Liu Qianqian contracted tuberculosis and was sent to the sick prisoners' cell. No one knows what kind of drugs they injected her with, but it made her leg turn purple, and she could no longer walk. It was reported that Ms. Liu accepted the brainwashing "under no pressure."

Prison guards used five prisoners to watch each Falun Dafa practitioner, and had those prisoners "help and educate" the practitioners. The "education" was consisted of beatings. Practitioners could only eat one small piece of corn bread and a small bowl of vegetable soup per day. They are not able to feel full, but must do heavy labor every day. Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Liao Xiaolu refused to do heavy labor, and was cursed and brutally beaten by prison guards.

On May 1, 2005, Ms. Liu Qianqian's family heard that she was very sick and requested to see her. They went through numerous difficulties and finally saw that she was as thin as a skeleton. Her family strongly requested to have her bailed out on medical parole, but was refused. Her parents picked her up on June 19, 2005, when her term ended. She used to weigh 135 pounds, but only had 55 pounds left at that point. Her family sent her to the Heishan County Tuberculosis Hospital to get treatment. The doctors said that there wasn't any cure for her. Ms. Liu Qianqian died on August 6, 2005.

(Clearwisdom.net) On August 24, 2005, National Security Team police officer Di Shigang, together with other officers, illegally arrested Ms. Yang Lijuan because she practices Falun Gong. The police brutally tortured her by inserting bamboo sticks under her fingernails, force-feeding her with highly concentrated pepper water, hanging her up, and tying her to an electric chair. Ms. Yang is being detained in Jilin City's Third Detention Center. On September 2, her 81-year-old mother made a phone call to the detention center and was rudely told, "Yang Lijuan was executed!"

On the morning of August 24, 2005, Di Shigang, the head of the Third National Security Team of Jilin City's Public Security Bureau, followed by four other policemen, deceitfully persuaded Ms. Yang Lijuan to open her door. After entering Ms Yang's home, they ransacked it, confiscating her Falun Dafa books and materials and also stealing her cash and a certificate of deposit. After they had finished ransacking her home, they arrested her and detained her in the two-story building of the Third National Security Team in the backyard of Guoyao, Songjiang, Jilin City. In a dark room on the second floor, they interrogated Ms. Yang using various methods of torture.

The brutal torture included force-feeding with highly concentrated pepper water, smashing sharpened bamboo sticks under her fingernails, and hanging her up with a rope that had been tied around her thumbs. While she was tied up and hanging just above the ground, the police pushed her to make her body swing, greatly increasing the pain. They also tied her in an electric chair connected to 220 volts to shock her. Her body was seized with convulsions and sweat dripped from her hair.

Ms. Yang went on a hunger strike to peacefully protest the police's brutality and the persecution. In retaliation, the police force-fed her with highly concentrated salt water.

Ms. Yang is a 55-year-old resident of the Tieluzhanqian District in Jilin City. She was the head of the Tielu First Daycare of Jilin City and started to practice Falun Gong in 1996. After she started to practice Falun Gong, her health improved both mentally and physically. and she conducted herself with the principle of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" to be a good person. She was very successful in her job and gained respect from those around her. After Jiang's regime started the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Ms. Yang went to Beijing to appeal for justice for the practice. As a consequence of her appeal she was arrested and detained at Huairou Detention Center in Beijing. She was arrested in the wintertime, and it was very cold. One of the detention center female police officers forced her to take off clothes, leaving her in just her bra and underpants. She was then forced to sit on the frozen ground. The policewoman donned a winter coat and held a cup of hot water in one hand and an electric baton in the other. She drank the water and interrogated Ms. Yang. She shocked Ms. Yang all over her body--her feet, hands, abdomen, neck, face and any other sensitive parts. Ms. Yang refused to yield and did not give the police her name, staging another hunger strike to protest the persecution.

On August 25, 2005, Yang Lijuan was transferred to Jilin City's Third Detention Center. To rescue her daughter, Ms. Yang's 81-year-old mother visited many different places to try and talk with the district policeman in the local police station and Di Shigang, the head of the National Security Team for the City Public Security Bureau, and to send money and necessities for her daughter in the Third Detention Center. When Ms. Yang's elderly mother heard that her daughter was force-fed with hot pepper water, she was deeply anxious and made several phone calls to the detention center, hoping to get a chance to see her daughter.

On September 2, the mother called the detention center to find out more regarding the situation of her daughter. The person who received the phone told her rudely, "Yang Lijuan was executed!"

Yang Lijuan's father is 83 years old. He has many diseases and is unable to take care of himself. With his daughter's care, his health has improved. On August 24, 2005, this elderly couple witnessed the brutal scene of the police breaking into their home, arresting their daughter and then ransacking and looting their home. Since then, the couple has been living under extreme mental pressure.

After learning that their daughter was brutally tortured, the elderly couple are very worried about their daughter's safety. They plan to sue the police, including Di Shigang of the Third National Security Team, for using torture against their daughter.

The same day that Yang Lijian was arrested, Di Shigang and other police also arrested practitioners Ms. Zhang Guizhi and Ms. Zhao Shuyun. Ms. Zhang Guizhi is over 50 years old and lived at Hongbo Garden in the Changyi District. The police grabbed Ms. Zhang Guizhi's legs and pulled them, causing Ms. Zhang to topple over head first. They then dragged her down seven flights of stairs all the way outside. Ms. Zhao Shuyun is over 40 years old and lived on Yan'an Street in the Changyi District. Ms. Zhao was an employee of the Jilin City Railroad construction section. On the morning of August 24, the police broke into and ransacked her home. Ms. Zhao lived with her daughter. Since she was arrested, her daughter has no financial income.

Ms. Yang Lijuan and Ms. Zhao Shuyun are being detained in the Jilin City Third Detention Center. We call for people around the world to help rescue them.

Thirteen Types of Torture Used on Falun Gong Practitioners at Gaoyang Labor Camp

(Clearwisdom.net) Listed below are 13 types of torture used on Falun Gong practitioners at the Gaoyang Labor Camp in Hebei Province.

Shocking with electric batons: Involves the simultaneous use of up to eight electric batons to shock the bottoms of the feet and the center of the palms. Practitioners suffering this torture are pulled outdoors, placed in a forested area (in order to conceal the crimes), and forced to sit on the icy cold ground with both hand outstretched. The practitioners are then shocked all night long. In addition, their faces may be hit with shoe soles until very swollen. Their entire faces may be tortured so much that they are completely distorted. The police also scream insults at the practitioners.
Nailed to poles: An iron pole is secured at both sides of the body and the hands are handcuffed to the poles.
Hanging legs: A deep hole is dug into the ground. The practitioner is then made to sit on the edge of the hole with both legs hanging down. Next, a big stone is tied to a rope, and the other end is tied to the practitioner's legs. The big stone is then thrown into the pit. The pain of this torture can hardly be imagined.
Sleeping at the flagpole: The hands of the practitioner are handcuffed to a flagpole with feet not touching the ground. The back of the practitioner must rest on the very narrow flagpole, with the head and feet hanging and dangling downward on both sides.
Filled with hot pepper water: The police fill practitioners' noses with hot pepper water. Sometimes they pick up the dirty sanitary napkins from the restroom and stuff them into the practitioners' mouths.
Buried in snow: The practitioner is covered with snow so that only the head is exposed.
Buried in earth: The practitioner is buried with earth so that only the upper part of the body remains free.
Exposed to mosquito bites: Practitioners are forced to stand under big electric bulbs at night so that the mosquitoes will come and bite them for hours on end.
Pulled to run: Two criminals will force practitioners to run. When the criminals become too tired to move any further, another two take over and continue to force the practitioners to keep running.
Denying use of the restroom: The evil people constrain practitioners from going to the restroom. Some are forced to relieve themselves in their pants; yet the police beat and scold them for it.
Shocking with electric wires: The police use electric batons to shock practitioners, yet the electric currents on the batons have sometimes shocked the police instead. The police pass it off by saying that the electricity of the electric batons leaked out. Then they tie the electric wires to the hands of practitioners. With this method, as soon as the electric power is switched on, the practitioners are shocked so much that their bodies literally jump.
Exposed to the baking sun: Dafa disciples are exposed to the baking sun until their skin is burned and badly blistered.
Scalding: The police open the collar of a practitioner, and then pour a bowl of boiling hot flour soup onto the body of the practitioner.

Chen Wen, a Single Old Man, Died Mysteriously in Huanggang City, Hubei Province

Mr. Chen Wen, about 75 years old, was a retiree of the Huangmei Opera Troupe. He was persecuted during the Cultural Revolution. One day during that time he jumped out of a third floor window. He was imprisoned for a total of 10 years. When he got out of jail and returned to his original job, he received very unfair treatment. For this reason, he always wanted to get revenge; he even thought of making bombs in order to make those who hurt him die together with him. But he never actually followed through on his plans, mainly because he didn't want to hurt innocent people. He was also getting older. He frequently contemplated jumping from a skyscraper, but he really did not want to die without resolving his hatred. He had once said that his life was just so hard.

Chen Wen started to learn Falun Gong at the end of 1995. After learning, his chronic illness of many years was cured; the tumor on his body, which had been diagnosed by doctors as impossible to cure, was also gone. The hatred in his heart and the sadness on his face were also gone. Since he learned Falun Gong he always followed the standard of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in his conduct and thoughts. He constantly cleaned up the staircase of his apartment, and many times he cleaned and fixed the public washrooms. At one time he went to a bank to withdraw some money. By mistake the teller gave him too much money. He returned all of it right away. This kind of behavior shocked the bank workers who said, "It is hard to believe that in this world there still exist such noble and virtuous people."

During the six years of persecuting Falun Gong, the evil CCP and the head of the evil Jiang Zemin have been using each other to torture Dafa disciples. Mr. Chen Wen was also persecuted. In order to clarify the truth about Dafa and about the benefits he gained from Dafa, Mr. Chen wrote many letters to different levels of government and to the appeals offices. He also went to Tiananmen Square to validate the Fa and was illegally arrested by the police. Afterwards, because he practiced the Falun Dafa exercises in a park, he was arrested by some Huangzhou City Public Security officers, who placed him in detention. There he suffered brutal persecution. He was forced to do heavy labor, which exceeded his physical capabilities. After some 20 days of illegal detention, he was sent to a brainwashing class, where he suffered all kinds of inhumane tortures. His heart and body suffered tremendously.

About three months ago, Chen Wen went to another city to visit his relatives and tell them the facts about Falun Gong. Soon after his trip he was suddenly found dead. Sources say that the Huang Zhou Public Security Bureau was informed by a county officer that Chen Wen was found dead on the side of a field in the country area and that he still carried truth clarification materials with him. Other sources say that Chen Wen was beaten to death. The real situation is unknown.

Practitioners Exchange Experiences and Insights

Treasure Our Time Every Day

(Clearwisdom.net) We Dafa practitioners should treat every day as the last day before the Fa rectifies the human world. We don't know what will happen tomorrow. We can only control what we do today. When we are lazy and lethargic, when we hold on to our attachments, we should ask ourselves: if tomorrow the whole thing is over, what should I be doing today? We are racing with time. Every day we should use our time wisely, like the time we send forth righteous thoughts at fixed times, and the time for the Fa-study and practice should also have a fixed routine. In my opinion, we should read at least one chapter of Zhuan Falun each day.

Each day we live in a society full of temptations. Unconsciously, our thoughts are accepting all kinds of deviated cultures and trends. These have been slowly eroding our mind. Studying the Fa everyday can help us to stay vigilant and expel the bad thoughts, and improve our cultivation according to the Fa.

During a period in 1999, each day I read the entire book Zhuan Falun once. I felt a noticeable xinxing improvement. Many of my long-term, stubborn attachments were eliminated during that time naturally.

Before we read Zhuan Falun, it is better to we should cleanse our minds. Eliminating the bad thoughts, karma, bad notions and external interference would help us better focus on reading the Fa.

When our mind wanders about during Fa study, we should return to the paragraph where we lost focus and start over. We should study the Fa without any attachments and notions, doing so with a tranquil mind. As Teacher said,

"The Fa can break all attachments, the Fa can destroy all evil, the Fa can shatter all lies, and the Fa can strengthen righteous thoughts." ("Drive out Interference" in Essentials for further Advancement II)

In "Teaching the Fa at the Washington D.C. International Fa Conference" (from Guiding the Voyage), Teacher said,

"Clarifying the truth is something each and every one of you Dafa disciples must do. I'm telling you this again. Anyone who tries to make excuses for himself and who's never stepped forward is wrong. As for how much longer this tribulation will last, I don't think you should think about these things much. And don't think about whether you can reach Consummation, either, because any desire you have can become an attachment and can be used by the evil. As soon as that kind of thought emerges, the evil might conjure a false image for you, and this will then cause interference. Cherish the present time and make the best use of it--this time is meant for the disciples. While you cultivate, do Fa-rectification, and move yourselves towards Consummation, you also need to save sentient beings; you are creating everything for the future."

We Dafa disciples are walking along the path to become gods. Clarifying the truth and saving sentient beings are our ultimate responsibilities; in fact, many disciples made an oath in a pre-historical era to do just that. Through these efforts, we are establishing our own mighty virtue and achieving eternal glory.

If we Dafa disciples all do well the Three Things, then the communist evil spirit, the dark minions, rotten demons and other evil elements will have no place to hide.

Let us treasure our time each day, treat every day as the last day before the Fa rectifies the human world, stay diligent in studying the Fa, put our best effort forward to do the Three Things and to save more people.

A Practitioner from Mainland China Validates the Fa in Canada during Hu Jintao's Visit

(Clearwisdom.net) I am a Falun Gong practitioner from Hebei Province. I arrived in Canada on May 8 and participated in World Falun Dafa Day activities on May 13 and the large-scale parades to support the millions of people who have resigned from the Communist Party. I think that no matter where Dafa disciples go, they cannot forget their responsibilities.

On September 10, I went with fellow practitioners to the Intercontinental Hotel to help with activities related to submitting the written petition to the visiting Hu Jintao and asking him to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. Four-foot tall cardboard characters declared: "Hu Jintao, the time that Heaven and the people are giving to you is limited." When I saw these characters laid out, my heart was moved by Dafa disciples' mercy to all the world's people, including Hu Jintao. I was asked to hold the character "Hu". When I held it, I was flooded with all sorts of feelings. Thinking that while I stood there, thousands of fellow practitioners in mainland China were still withstanding all kinds of brutal torture, tears welled up in my eyes.

Suddenly a few well-dressed middle-aged men blocked the banner I was holding. I realized that they were there at the direction of the Chinese consulate. The battle between good and evil was happening right here. I tried to persuade them with the intent of saving them. But an older Chinese man started to make a scene, claiming that my action was against China. While I patiently told him about the benefits of practicing Falun Gong and my personal experience with the practice, we asked the police to persuade him to leave. He finally left.

At around 10:30, as Hu was entering the hotel from the north entrance, I quickly carried a large board with the characters Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party in front of the CBC news camera near the main entrance. I wanted to eliminate all the barriers with my righteous thoughts and let people see Dafa's dignity. The righteous thoughts took effect and the people who tried to block me moved away, so the "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" board was displayed prominently.

When Hu came out, we all followed him, shouting: "Stop persecuting Falun Gong", "Falun Dafa is the righteous practice", "Hu Jintao, the time that Heaven and the people are giving to you is limited", and so on.

In the afternoon, fellow practitioners and I sent righteous thoughts and practiced the exercises on the sidewalk opposite the main entrance of the Intercontinental Hotel. The atmosphere was very peaceful.

This is the first time I have attended large-scale activities since July 20, 1999. We had 60 practitioners exercising together. Compared with the practitioners in Mainland China, I am very lucky. The pedestrians smiled at us as they passed by. Some of them came to find out more about Falun Dafa. Some of them understood China very well. They said they really couldn't understand the Chinese government's behavior. They really sympathized with us and said we were doing the right thing. However, some Chinese people treated us coldly, making it clear that some people still don't understand Dafa. We need to try harder to help them.

In the early evening, fellow practitioners held a banner at the side entrance to wait for Hu. At that time, there were very few people still holding red flags. At six o'clock, the mounted and special police started to move. We guessed that Hu was returning to the hotel, and began to shout, "Stop persecuting Falun Gong," "Falun Dafa is the righteous practice," and "Falun Dafa is good." Many westerners stopped to watch, record videos and take pictures. Some of them insisted on a group photo with our practitioners. I was very touched by the warm and kindhearted side of these people's hearts.

Getting Rid of the Attachments of Selfishness, Fear and Pursuit While Clarifying the Truth

(Clearwisdom.net) Since I began to cultivate Dafa in 1997, I cannot convey enough the benefits to my health or family life in words. Though I did truth clarification many times, as I look back at my path, I discovered that selfishness and pursuit have existed at every step. I would like to share my understanding of personal truth clarification in order to improve ourselves together in cultivation.

Once when clarifying the truth at a banquet, in attendance were the chief of the local Judicial Bureau, the head of the People's Congress of the city, the director-general of our corporation and some high level managers. While drinking wine, my company's boss said about me, "He does not drink wine. He practices Falun Gong." Then the chief of the local Judicial Bureau and the head of People's Congress of the city said loudly at the same time, "Fellow, you cannot practice Falun Gong! It is heresy."

I clarified the truth to them. I told them Falun Gong is good. I described how Falun Gong can make people improve their moral standards and become a good person, how Falun Gong brings great physical and mental benefits and that it can raise society's morals to a higher level. I spoke of the "Tiananmen Square Self-Immolation Incident" having been staged by Jiang's regime to deceive people and persecute Falun Gong. They could say nothing more and came to understand the truth about Dafa. The chief said, "I want to learn from you, fellow! I formally want you to be my teacher." I told him, "If you want to learn I'll give you a book, but there's only one master and that is Master Li."

As I talked about Jiang Zemin's regime persecuting Dafa, and that my boss and the director-general always protect Dafa practitioners, the head of the People's Congress said, "The Communist Party does not allow practicing, so you cannot practice. The Communist Party does not allow you to publicize Falun Gong, so you cannot publicize it!" This negative response made me realize my error. Although it is reflected in this dimension that my boss and the director-general protected us, the one who actually protects us is our Master. They were just doing it in this dimension; the one who truly protected practitioners is our Master.

After that, I did some self-examination on this. I had clarified the truth to them with humanness in many aspects. The attachment of indignation made me think that they were not fair toward Dafa and Dafa practitioners. There was also the attachment of fear, which made me ponder whether or not I could clarify the truth of Dafa to the high-level leaders present. I was still afraid and cowered, even when the evilness of the persecution came at me. When the truth was clarified, and the listeners all approved of Dafa being great, and they could also accept the truth, I was happy. I was thinking that I had done a good job. Master had already acknowledged my truth clarification work. Then the attachment of pursuit appeared. How bad these attachments are! I did not act from the mindset of altruism. I put myself, not Dafa, in the primary position. How serious the attachment of selfishness is! The attachment of pursuit appeared only when I did truth clarification. This attachment is deeply rooted. Why didn't I get rid of it when I made mistakes before? Again, it was selfishness. I was afraid that Master wouldn't accept me and I could not possibly reach consummation because I made mistakes.

Why can one not improve oneself after making a mistake and go well on one's way of cultivation and validate Dafa? The attachments of selfishness, fear and pursuit exist deeply and microcosmically in our minds at all times. Undertaking different ways of truth clarification in many respects has made me clearly realize that as Dafa practitioners we must do the three things well, according to Master's teachings. We must save people. We must do well in truth clarification. At every opportunity, we should try our best to take the initiative in any situation without going to extremes. We should put Dafa first and to be considerate of others. We should be selfless, fearless and pursue nothing. Only by validating Dafa with the mindset of a genuine practitioner can we save more people.

My Truth-clarification Experience at a Photo Exhibit by Falun Dafa Practitioners (Photos)

It is the responsibility and the mission of every Falun Dafa practitioner to demonstrate the magnificence of Falun Dafa and to expose the CCP's persecution against practitioners. This is also to validate the Fa, safeguard the Fa and save sentient beings. As Falun Dafa practitioners, we must try our best to carry out these tasks.

It is the authenticity that makes photographic art convincing. With time and space condensed in the art, the transient becomes eternal and a powerful message is conveyed through the combination of structure and proportion, images and spirit. The works displayed at the practitioners' exhibit depicted how millions of Falun Dafa practitioners have been validating the Fa during the thirteen years.

Visitors carefully appreciate every work of art

The first indoor photo exhibit in Taiwan was displayed in the Taipei Cultural Center. Although the rooms were not very large and the exhibit was not the longest, the cultural center became warm and bright as soon as the Falun Dafa practitioners' photographic works were in place. Early in the morning, some visitors could not wait to view the exhibit.

At lunchtime, we started to distribute flyers to those passing by and to people in the neighboring stores and to invite them to the photo exhibit. Almost everyone accepted the flyers and thanked us.

Initially we thought the exhibit was mainly open to everyday people. Nevertheless new practitioners, who anxiously tried to understand what they had not understood, particularly enjoyed it. When we guided the tour for them, they gathered many of their friends and relatives to listen.

One lady stood and stared at the art for a long time. I walked towards her and asked her if I could be of any help. It turned out that she was a new practitioner who started to practice about a year ago. She was very fascinated by the pictures that demonstrated the supernormal capabilities in Falun Dafa. She told me that before she started to practice Falun Dafa, a colleague of hers showed her this picture but she quickly passed it off as a photographic technique. After she started to practice Falun Dafa herself, she gradually understood the profound meaning of cultivation practice. As she was telling me her story, her tears were flowing and her voice became hoarse. Her sincerity deeply touched my heart.

Another new practitioner and her colleagues also came to view the exhibit. Throughout the whole tour, she was so focused that she was not ready to leave at the end of the exhibit. Since she seemed to have something to say, I started to talk to her. She told me that she experienced something extraordinary the day before. "It must be Master's Law Body who saved me," she said. The story is that she was driving on a freeway when her car started to skid. She quickly turned her steering wheel but the car skidded in the opposite direction. The car zigzagged and it was very dangerous. Soon she realized that her car had turned 180 degrees and was facing other vehicles that were speeding towards her. As if the policeman were expecting this, he quickly guided the traffic away from her and prevented an accident. She said that at the scene she was incredibly calm and not fearful at all. When she returned home, however, she started to feel frightened and she couldn't sleep all night. Full of gratitude in her heart, she just wanted to understand what happened. "No matter how new a practitioner you are, you can validate the Fa equally well," I said.

Oftentimes practitioners hold their own notions and choose their own paths or ways to cultivate and to clarify the truth without realizing that Master's Law Body arranges everything. For example, one practitioner at the exhibit initially believed that she was there only to work at the front desk. She thought that doing the guided tour was not her job. However a lot of people came to her and asked her many questions. Soon she became more proactive and started to explain the art to the visitors. In fact, she quickly did very well in guiding the visitors.

Many practitioners at the exhibit also overcame their notions and attachments, stopped picking jobs or limiting their responsibilities, and turned to proactively work for the exhibit and get involved in helping the visitors. It was truly a good cultivation experience for all of us.

A Reminder for Young Practitioners Addicted to TV and Internet Video Games

I am a young Falun Gong disciple. My mom got me started on practicing Falun Gong with her when I was seven. Seven was a tender age, but I was very diligent in my cultivation practice. For the first few years after the Chinese Communist regime started to openly persecute Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, I continued to cultivate myself while validating the Fa. But as time went by and as I started middle school, I became busy with schoolwork and neglected my Fa study. I also started to pay less attention to clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. I deviated more and more from the Fa. Instead, I became addicted to pop music, TV drama, martial art films and gunfight movies. Eventually I stopped studying the Fa altogether. As a result, the demons began to exploit my loopholes. Last night around 10:00 p.m. (August 23, 2005), I had horrible nightmares as soon as I went to bed after watching TV. I would like to share the nightmares so that it will be a lesson to all my fellow young practitioners.

Nightmare 1: The sky was pitch black. My mother was driving my older sister (also a Falun Gong practitioner) and me while it was snowing. Then suddenly my mother and my sister had to leave the car. They left me in the car waiting. I suddenly had trouble breathing as though the air was gone. I started to call out to Teacher for help and then I woke up, finding myself catching my breath.

Nightmare 2: As soon as I fell asleep again. I met a few stars I admired. At first we played together, but soon we started fighting. Then I began to send forth righteous thoughts. As soon as I did that, all the "stars" perished and turned into vapor.

Nightmare 3: Three demons with blue faces and tusks came at me with batons in their hands. They perished right away when I sent forth righteous thoughts.

Nightmare 4: Another demon ran towards me with a hatchet in its hands, but it didn't perish when I sent forth righteous thoughts. I told it, "I am a Falun Gong disciple. If you do not leave right away, I will eradicate you." The demon replied, "A piece of cake. There are only a few days left for your cultivation practice. If you should continue to fantasize that you will be able to complete your cultivation practice in just a few days, I will torture you to death!" Next it jumped on me and bit two of my fingers. Blood immediately gushed out. I begged Teacher to reinforce my righteous thoughts and my body began to feel burning hot. But next I felt a cold stream of air flowing down my body from the top of my head. I experienced the hot-cold cycle a few times, but I kept chanting, "The Fa rectifies the cosmos, the Evil is completely eliminated." Soon the demon was vanquished.

After I woke up from the nightmares, I realized from the demon's words that we are truly pressed for time. I must grasp the remaining time available to me to study the Fa diligently and to eradicate the evil specter of the Communist Party, as well as all the bad substances harbored by the TV, other degenerated modern culture, evil beings and rotten demons. I must truly do well the Three Things that Teacher has asked us to do from now on. Meanwhile, I would like to remind all the young practitioners not to repeat the mistakes that I made. Free yourself from the TV and from Internet video games. Send forth righteous thoughts frequently.

Please Pay More Attention to the Cultivation Practice of the Children Whose Parents Have Been Forced to Leave Home and Go into Hiding or Are Currently under Detention

I have been away from my home for over a year, but fellow practitioners have been looking after my children. These fellow practitioners are terribly busy, but they always squeeze in time to visit my children, clean their rooms and chat with them affectionately. My children enjoy fellow practitioners' company very much. I truly appreciate what these fellow practitioners have done for my children. The only way I can repay them is by doing the truth-clarification work well.

For the past few years we may have been living in different places, but we have been doing the same Three Things. After all, doing the Three Things well is the primary goal of our life. Sometimes when I called my children, I learned that they didn't get a copy of the latest Minghui Weekly or Teacher's new articles, but I believe it is more important to have them upgrade their understandings of the Fa. I hope that fellow practitioners will try to find time to exchange cultivation experiences with them and help them more in this regard. Meanwhile, I was wondering if other practitioners' children have the same need. Incidentally, my children enjoy reading Falun Gong's truth-clarification materials. A Change of Heart by Criminals Condemned to Death

This is a true story from Baishan City. A practitioner was arrested and taken to the city detention center and detained in a cell where the cell leader was a criminal condemned to the death. (This criminal killed a person, chopped up the corpse, and was sentenced to execution. Because he had several cases still pending, he had been held in the jail for four years at the time). The criminal tortured this practitioner under the supervision of policemen. This practitioner had a compassionate heart and clarified the truth to them, but he was tortured till he vomited blood and was sent to a hospital for rescue.

The detention center did not stop its torture of this practitioner. The next day the police sent him to a cell for sick people, where the leader was another criminal condemned to the death. This criminal asked him several questions, after which he understood instantly that the Chinese Communist Party had lied, and that Dafa had been wronged. Seeing this practitioner not give up even at the verge of death, and without resentment toward his captors, he was very touched. He told the practitioner frankly: "Three days before you came, I was told they would send a Falun Gong person here. They asked me to treat you viciously if you were not dead already. Now I realize Falun Gong teaches people to be good and is a righteous Fa. I can tell you I have done all kinds of bad things, but I will not take part in persecuting Falun Gong. I would not be where I am today if I had known about Falun Gong earlier. If I had a chance, I would learn Falun Gong, and I would also be a good person."

Upon seeing that this practitioner was not persecuted by his inmate guard but instead treated with respect, the other criminals listened to him clarify the truth and talk about the meaning of life. Many people said they wanted to learn Falun Gong if they were released. The police were frightened by this situation and moved the practitioner to a different cell.

Because the first inmate head followed the instructions of the police and persecuted practitioners, the police sent another practitioner to this cell. Surprisingly, one day this person asked suddenly: "What are the facts of the Tiananmen Square self-immolation?" The practitioner told him that the Dafa books clearly state that practitioners cannot take lives, and to kill others and to kill oneself are both sinful. Real practitioners would not do such things. It was a frame-up. The practitioners continued to point out fallacies in the set-up: "People with a little common sense should also realize that a burned patient cannot be wrapped with cloth, since that would cause infection in the wound area. How could it be possible that the patient was wrapped tightly as shown on TV? The little girl, Liu Siying, was burned at the throat and her trachea was cut up, how could she receive the interview of the reporter? The organizer Wang Jindong's cotton clothes were burned while the plastic bottle filled with gas that was between his legs was intact. Think about it, and you will know the truth!" The guard took a hard look at this and said: "I have known for a long time that the CCP is good at lying, but I was still cheated this time! I know you are good people; I support your going on a hunger strike. If everyone is like you, China will have hope." This big turnaround surprised everyone. This was another example of the power of righteous thoughts and righteous actions.

WSJ: China's Internet Censors Fight a Losing Battle

Almost overnight, the Internet has emerged as the single most important forum the Chinese people have to criticize government policies and participate in politics. This is the good news. The bad news is that China's leaders have also noticed this phenomenon, and are doing everything in their power to reverse it. The really awful news is that Western Internet companies are only too happy to help the government.

On September 25, two powerful Chinese government agencies, the State Council Information Office and the Ministry of Information Industry, jointly issued an important legal document: Rules on the Administration of Internet News Information Services. Particularly aimed at online forums, Web logs and even SMS wireless services, these new regulations represent the latest wave of forceful measures that the Chinese government has undertaken in a desperate attempt to regain control over the Internet.

The regulations are not entirely new. Since 1994, China's government has issued at least 38 laws and regulations aiming to control the Internet. The latest batch restates those laws, but also adds some important new expansions.

Significantly, the new rules include two additional categories of forbidden content left out of previously released regulations. One is the ban against "inciting illegal assemblies, associations, marches, demonstrations, or gatherings that disturb social order," and the other targets "conducting activities in the name of an illegal civil organization." This is an apparent attempt to eliminate netizens' capacity to organize online. The massive anti-Japanese protests in some major Chinese cities this spring demonstrated the medium's potential for spontaneous organization.

The most obvious feature of the new regulations is that they focus on "Internet news." The following statement from the official news agency Xinhua makes the intention clear: "The state bans the spreading of any news with content that is against national security and public interest." The regulation defines "Internet news" as, "current events news information, and includes reporting and commentary relating to politics, economics, military affairs, foreign affairs, and social and public affairs, as well as reporting and commentary relating to fast-breaking social events."

Ever since the Internet entered China, this flexible and pervasive new medium has been adopted by information-starved Chinese users to circumvent the Communist Party's traditional information-control mechanisms. Journalists have learned how to evade government guidelines by distributing and collecting information online. Ordinary Internet users can also write about events they witness and broadcast their reports online, making the suppression of important breaking news almost impossible.

Online discussions of current events, especially through Internet bulletin board systems (BBS) and Web logs, or "blogs," are having real agenda-setting power. The Chinese government has used enormous financial resources to set up government-sponsored Web sites at all levels of government, from national to regional and provincial. About 10% of all sites in Chinese cyberspace are directly set up and run by the government. Over 150 news sites have been directly established by the central and local government.

The problem is that these official sites have signally failed to gain the trust of the 100 million mostly young, urban and educated netizens. On the contrary, people simply go to any number of independent Web sites, including BBS and blogs, to read what they think is interesting. Popular BBS such as Tianya community and Xicihutong and individual bloggers enjoy far more online popularity, and therefore real influence, among netizens, than official Web sites such as Xinhua.com.

This is where the newly promulgated rules come in. The rules encourage self-censorship, particularly at smaller, unofficial news Web sites. The Chinese government mandates that all online forum- and weblogs-hosting companies, and even wireless text messaging services, bear responsibility for any information distributed through their sites or their services.

Authorities use licensing regulations and financial penalties to punish any companies that fail to comply. This regulation also applies to international Internet companies such as Yahoo and Microsoft, among others. Eager to expand their Chinese market share, many of these companies are more than keen to collaborate with these censorship mechanisms.

All major Internet Service Providers and Internet Content Providers in China have to hire people who do nothing but watch online information on their Web sites, and are ready to delete content considered "sensitive." In addition to human censors, all Web site-hosting services have also installed keywords filtering software. Posts on politically sensitive topics, such as Falun Gong, human rights, democracy, and Taiwan independence are routinely filtered. A list obtained by the Berkeley China Internet Project last year found that over 1,000 words, including "dictatorship," "truth," and "riot police" are automatically banned in China's online forums.

This regulation is backed up by real policing power. Since 2000, China's police force has established Internet departments in more than 700 cities and provinces. The Chinese net police monitor Web sites and email for "heretical teachings or feudal superstitions" and information "harmful to the dignity or interests of the state." They also have access to software which enables them to detect "subversive" key words in emails and downloads as well as to trace messages back to the computers from which they were sent.

In a recent case that shocked many around the world, Chinese journalist Shi Tao was sentenced to 10 years in prison for sending an email about news censorship in China to an overseas pro-democracy Web site. The catch here was that the net police traced the email back to the sender not through their state-of-the-art surveillance software technology, but thanks to the willing collaboration of Yahoo. It is instructive that the California company turned the information over even though it was stored in Hong Kong, outside the jurisdiction of the mainland police.

But Chinese authorities do not only rely on the threat of police action or imprisonment, but also adopt more subtle approaches to "guide opinion" online. Propaganda agents work undercover online pretending to be ordinary netizens, monitoring Internet debate as well as "guiding" online discussions.

Ironically, while government agents hide their identity online, Chinese authorities have ordered that all users of blog-hosting services and other individual Web sites register their identity, even at Internet cafes. All of these control mechanisms have a clear goal: to hold individuals directly responsible for what appears on their Web sites.

The problem for the authorities is that these measures are running up against the networked, decentralized and ephemeral nature of this new medium. The leaders are trying to halt a power shift in which Internet surfers get to choose which site to visit, what information to believe and distribute, and whose opinion to listen to. What's important online is credibility. The real opinion leaders and influential voices are coming from Chinese BBS and the blogosphere, not the official media.

These grassroots media activities will continue to take place despite the new regulations. New-generation technologies such as peer-to-peer file sharing and voice over IP phones (Skype is a brilliant example), will provide new communication platforms that can make it easier for users to bypass the censors' control. The capacity of the government to implement these new regulations effectively, therefore, is very questionable. The many-to-many and emergent nature of the Internet empowers information users far more then censors.

In the short-term, the new rules may have a chilling effect on Chinese cyberspace. In the long term, however, the Chinese censors are fighting a losing battle. The deeper problem here is that the Chinese Communist Party itself is morally bankrupt and intellectually exhausted. More regulations will not make official propaganda any more attractive or credible to Chinese netizens. Undercover commentators, self-censorship by Web site hosts, and occasional harsh police action against political activists will not help China's leaders gain legitimacy and trust either. Those in the West that helped trying to suppress speech may come to regret their decisions.

Facts of the Persecution

1. Wicked Deeds Committed by a Police Officer in Beijing

Police officer Song Linfeng from the Chengguan Public Security Station of Miyun County, Beijing City, has been actively participating in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. For example, practitioner Mr. Cao had just found a job in a building decoration company. He rented a house for himself and his family within the district where officer Song was in charge of maintaining order. One day Song broke into Mr. Cao's house. Through deceitful questioning he learned from Mr. Cao's family where Mr. Cao was working. On April 29, 2005, Mr. Cao was arrested, and later on his house was also illegally ransacked. Mr. Cao has since been released, but the company that had hired Mr. Cao is no longer willing to take him back, for fear of possible consequences. Mr. Cao has lost his only source of income to support his family.

She has also been illegally sentenced to prison twice. While in prison, Ms. Hao was tortured frequently by the prison guards and the directors. Ms. Li Weixun Arrives in Baltimore With Help from the UN Refugee Agency and the U.S. Government

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Weixun from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province obtained United Nations refugee status in Thailand. With assistance and support from the Friends of Falun Gong Organization in the U.S., the UN Refugee Agency, the U.S. State Department, U.S. Congress and some NGOs, she received approval from the UN Refugee Agency to stay in the U.S., and she safely arrived at the Baltimore International Airport at midnight on September 21, 2005.

Her Experience of Brutal Persecution by the Chinese Communist Party

Li Weixun was savagely tortured by the CCP police in early January 2002 for persevering in her practice of Falun Gong. She could not move her arms or legs, and she could not talk or eat. When she was on the brink of death, the perpetrators reluctantly approved medical parole through the Shenyang City 610 Office, and they sent her to the No. 1 Hospital Affiliated with China Medical University for emergency treatment, only after strong repeated requests from her family and friends. During her stay at the hospital, four police officers watched her around the clock. She successfully escaped the monitoring and left China, and she obtained UN refugee status in Thailand. After she went through some procedures and waited for a while, the UN Refugee Agency and the Friends of Falun Gong organization sought and obtained support from the U.S. government on her behalf, and Li Weixun received permission to live in the U.S.

According to Li Weixun, she and her husband both worked for the CCP Committee of a large factory in Shenyang City. To defame her and attack her cultivation practice, the CCP Committee slandered Falun Gong through a loudspeaker that resonated throughout the factory, which hurt her and her family. The police constantly harassed her and frightened her mother-in-law, who became nervous whenever someone knocked on the door. During her illegal detention, she was tortured to the brink of death. The police were afraid to take responsibility for this, so they agreed to release her on medical parole. Later she went home on an outpatient basis. The police stayed at her home next to her room and they asked to break open the room through the dividing wall so they could watch her at all times. Her family members, who do not practice Falun Gong, could not take it anymore and said to the police, "We know you are doing this to keep your job, otherwise we would have kicked you out and you would have to sleep in the street." Her family, friends and other Falun Gong practitioners risked their lives and helped her escape from home to go to another country. The people who helped her were severely persecuted; some of her family members who are not Falun Gong practitioners were sentenced to eight years in prison and are currently being incarcerated.

Li Weixun's hometown of Shenyang City is under the jurisdiction of Bo Xilai, the governor of Liaoning Province. Li Weixun was one of the plaintiffs who filed a lawsuit in the U.S. against Bo Xilai during his visit there, because his actions have resulted in the severe persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in that region.

She is Grateful for Help from People in the U.S.

On the morning of September 23, 2005, some Falun Gong practitioners in the U.S. accompanied Li Weixun to attend training and service programs for refugees provided by the Office of Refugee Resettlement. Li Weixun thanked the people for their help and support. Ms. Sala thanked Falun Gong practitioners for their help with Li Weixun's release. The officials informed the trainees that the U.S. government accepted some international refugees who do not have family members or friends in the U.S., and Li Weixun is one of them.

In the afternoon, Li Weixun visited the U.S. State Department and expressed her sincere gratitude for the help that the U.S. government has extended to her and other Falun Gong practitioners. She also told three veteran officials the State Department about the unreasonable persecution she suffered in China for practicing Falun Gong.

Regarding the new CCP leader's speech that included the phrase "building a harmonious society" that was recently given at a United Nations meeting, Li Weixun told the U.S. officials that she personally witnessed Falun Gong practitioners being tortured and disabled. She saw many Falun Gong practitioners who were forced to leave home under the severe persecution to avoid harassment; yet they could not rent a room from any hotel and the police constantly pursued them. Oftentimes dozens of practitioners slept on the floor in a small room. The CCP tried to physically destroy Falun Gong practitioners, but the practitioners resolutely refused to give up their belief despite tremendous risk to their lives. The slogan "building a harmonious society" is a lie in China. Not only are Falun Gong practitioners persecuted, but people of various beliefs as well as political dissidents were also arrested and persecuted. The CCP leader was only trying to deceive and brainwash the world's people by spreading the propaganda of "building a harmonious society" to the international society.

The State Department officials thanked Li Weixun for her visit and said they would continue to pay attention to the persecution of Falun Gong by the CCP, and they will bring up the topic during future meetings with Chinese officials, and they will urge the Chinese government to respect Falun Gong practitioners and other Chinese people's freedom of belief and freedom of speech.

Ms. Li Weixun is another Falun Gong practitioner who does not have any family relations in the U.S., but was still accepted by the U.S. government in the past six years during the persecution of Falun Gong by the CCP and Jiang Zemin's regime. In 2001, several Falun Gong practitioners studying in Singapore did exercises in a park and clarified the truth about the persecution. Due to political pressure and financial incentives from the CCP government, the Singapore government arrested and detained them. After Falun Gong practitioners from other parts of the world clarified the truth to the Singapore government, it released the practitioners but demanded that they leave Singapore. They faced persecution if they returned to China. The UN Refugee Agency and the U.S. Government extended a helping hand and got them to the U.S. in a very short time.

It was people who loved freedom of belief that created the tradition of the U.S.' emphasis on democracy, freedom, and human rights--the country's founding principles. As the government upholds and maintains justice and order in the world under the banner of justice and morality, America has prospered and flourished.

Sun Jiazheng, China's Minister of Culture, intends to attend the Festival of China at John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in the United States in October 2005.

We request the State Department to deny Chinese government official Sun Jiazheng an entry visa into the United States pursuant to INA 212(a)(2)(G), 8 U.S.C.A. Section 1182(a)(2)(G) -- "Foreign government officials who have engaged in particularly severe violations of religious freedom." Sun Jiazheng has played a major role in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China:

-- China's Ministry of Culture has closely followed Jiang Zemin's orders in the suppression of Falun Gong by banning and massive destroying Falun Gong publications;

-- Sun chairs an organizing committee of "internet civilization project" to monitor and block the "antagonistic forces" inside and outside China including emails with contents of Falun Gong;

-- China's Ministry of Culture launched hate campaign to direct intellectuals in producing numerous literature and art pieces smearing and instigating hatred of Falun Gong;

-- In January of 2004, a lawsuit was filed against Sun in France during his visit as part of Sino-France Cultural Year Exchange Program. The charges include "incitement of massacre and persecution"

The anti-Falun Gong "cultural" campaign directly resulted in Chinese people's hate against Falun Gong, and legitimized the torture and killing. To allow Sun Jiazheng into the United States to attend events hosted by John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, a US government organization, would send a troubling message that the U.S. government ignores its own immigration and human rights laws when dealing with the People's Republic of China.

As the Nine Commentaries on Communist Party put it in "On How the Chinese Communist Party Destroyed Traditional Culture", the Communist regime destroyed Chinese traditional culture, replacing it with 'communist culture' which advocates the philosophy of 'struggling with heaven, earth and humanity' and destroyed traditional faith of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. Communist "culture" is actually a propaganda tool to control Chinese people's minds and force a suppressive social environment, wielded whenever it desires to persecute a group the CCP recognizes as different from its own violent nature. Past recipients of this destructive dictation of culture include landowners, intellectuals, artists, and people of Chinese traditional faiths.

(Clearwisdom.net) The 2005 Australia Falun Dafa Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference was held on September 25, 2005 at the Queanbeyan Conference Center in Canberra. Practitioners from across Australia and some Asia-Pacific countries attended. More than a dozen practitioners gave speeches.

Practitioners who gave the speeches shared their understandings and experiences as part of the Fa-rectification cultivation process and their experiences in validating Dafa through various means.

Among them, a practitioner who is involved in media work shared from different angles how he let go of self, worked together with others as one body, clarified the truth, and how this affected his personal cultivation and improvement.

Regarding the recent situation of some practitioners appearing to have symptoms of illness karma, Ms. Zhu shared her experience of breaking through evil persecution with the power of her righteous thoughts, and her understanding of Teacher's poem, "When disciples' righteous thoughts are strong, Teacher's mighty power can help them do everything." (Provisional translation of 'The Kindness of Master and Disciples' from Hongyin II, a collection of Teacher's poems)

Practitioners who have long been holding peaceful appeals in front of the Chinese Embassy and practitioners who have long been clarifying the truth to Chinese tourists at various sites also shared their experiences.

Mr. Yang, who used to be pro-democracy activist, shared his experience of seeing through the CCP's wicked nature by reading the "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party." He completely abandoned the CCP and took the path of cultivation that will lead him to return to his original, true self.

Practitioner Susan shared her Fa-rectification cultivation experience. She did not complete primary school. At the beginning of this year, she did not know how to use a computer or how to get on the Internet. As time went on, she became proficient in using the computer and chatted online with people to clarify the truth to them.

A representative of practitioners who do media work shared about how they maintained righteous thoughts and righteous actions, and overcame economic barriers when holding a Mid-Autumn Festival activity this year.

(Clearwisdom.net) On September 25, 2005, the "Photography Exhibit of Falun Dafa Practitioners Validating the Fa" was held for the first time at the Mission Bay in the city of Auckland. A constant stream of visitors was deeply moved by the Falun Dafa practitioners' peaceful and rational opposition to the persecution, which was manifested by the photographs. Visitors were also touched by the spirit of orthodox culture exhibited by Dafa practitioners' art performances that were documented by the photos.

The photography exhibit consisted of three sections: In section one, "Journey of cultivation," the splendid scene showing practitioners' health and moral improvements through practicing cultivation and grand group practices exhibited the beauty of Falun Dafa and its worldwide spread. The second section focused on the peaceful resistance to the persecution. The photos exhibited the Falun Dafa practitioners' steadfast faith in their belief and their efforts in persistently clarifying the truth under the Chinese communist regime's cruel persecution. The third section recorded the precious moments when Minghui School students and teachers traveled the streets to clarify the truth to people. The young practitioners' innocent smiles brought people hope for the future.

A visitor standing in front of the section with the theme "Peaceful Resistance to the Persecution" said with indignation, "The Chinese Communist Party is too bad! What good is persecuting you?" From each visitor's expression, one could tell that they felt the beauty and sacredness of Falun Dafa through appreciating the art.

Practitioners who participated in preparing this exhibit included mothers of young children, professors from universities, a Master's degree holder in economics and construction workers. They used their spare time to closely work together. Through mutual respect and cooperation, their special skills were maximally brought into play. They overcame all kinds of difficulties and held a successful event.

Practitioners expressed that in order to help more people learn about the cultivators' journey and the facts about Falun Dafa, they will hold the exhibit in a variety of places.

On September 13, 2005, the Falun Dafa Club at the National Cheng Kung University took part in a party to welcome new students. Young students who practice Falun Gong in Tainan County demonstrated the elegant five sets of Falun Gong exercises at the university's performance hall. They also recounted the persecution facts in Mainland China.

The peaceful exercise demonstration distinguished itself from other clubs or organizations' songs and dances. When the euphonious exercise music resounded, the entire hall was suddenly quiet and peaceful. The demonstration brought new students something fresh, beautiful and pure.

On September 14 and 15, clubs and organizations at National Cheng Kung University held activities to recruit new students. The Falun Dafa Club decorated their booth with beautiful lotus flowers. They also exhibited the book "Zhuan Falun," as well as a brief introduction to Falun Gong and other truth-clarification materials exposing the persecution.

New students attentively listen while veteran students talk about the worldwide spread of Falun Dafa and about how practitioners benefit from the practice.

During the two days, many new students took the initiative to learn more about Falun Dafa. They expressed their interest in our profound cultivation practice and left their contact information. Some new students liked the lotus flowers very much and they began learning how to fold the flowers at the booth. Two students took the initiative to help with the Falun Dafa club booth.

There were also quite a number of new students who did not understand why Falun Gong is persecuted in Mainland China. Practitioners patiently explained to them: Falun Gong has helped people to improve their physical health and moral standard and had been warmly received in China. In just a few years, 100 million people began practicing Falun Gong. Unfortunately, the Chinese Communist Party's evil nature determined that it could not tolerate the wide spreading of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The former head of China, Jiang Zemin, was especially jealous of the great popularity of Falun Gong. On June 10, 1999, under Jiang's personal orders, an agency for terrorism, the 610 Office, was established. The 610 Office overrides the Chinese constitution and is above the Chinese law, and its sole purpose is to carry out the persecution of Falun Gong. On July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin ordered the "610 Office" to systematically oppress Falun Gong practitioners by applying the following policies: "Ruin their reputations, bankrupt them financially, and destroy them physically;" "if a practitioner is beaten to death, count it as suicide;" and "directly cremate their bodies without verifying their identities." Numerous Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured to death as a result of Jiang's murderous policies. Countless families have been torn apart. Millions of practitioners have been forced to leave their homes to avoid further persecution. The family members, friends and even the colleagues of Falun Gong practitioners have encountered brainwashing and have been incriminated to different degrees.

Since July 20, 1999, 2,728 Falun Gong practitioners have been confirmed dead as a result of the persecution. The death cases are spread over more than 30 provinces in Mainland China. Due to the difficulty of obtaining the facts in China, this number represents only a small portion of the true number of deaths.

Practitioners also wished that those who have learned the facts about Falun Dafa could provide some help to Mainland practitioners, and suggested that doing so will also bring them a good future.

Calling for Justice and Working Together to Rescue Falun Gong Orphans (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) On September 24, 2005, at the Dehsing Stadium where the Hualian County Sports Meeting was held, Falun Gong practitioners collected signatures in support of rescuing children who are suffering from the persecution of Falun Gong in China. Since August 25, when the signature drive and the rescue campaign began, we have received about 8000 signatures from citizens of different cities and counties in Taiwan.

The Hualian County Sports Meeting began to cheers. Two art paintings exhibited at the stadium entrance were very eye-catching. One painting depicted a lovely girl whose eyes were full of tears. Another one depicted a little boy who stood inside an iron-barred cell. His eyes expressed confusion. With a careful look, one could understand that the paintings helped the signature drive for rescuing children who are suffering the persecution of Falun Gong in China.

The Persecution Has Never Stopped During the Past Six Plus Years

Practitioner Mr. Lu said, "Since the Chinese communist regime and Jiang's faction launched the inhuman persecution of Falun Gong practitioners who believe in 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance,' nearly 3000 practitioners have been verified to have died in the persecution. The persecution also deprived countless children of their right to go to school. Some were forced to leave home and became homeless. Some have been orphaned." He said that such brutal persecution has continued for more than six years and the bloody persecution has never stopped. Because of the Chinese Communist Party's information blockade, people are unable to learn about the facts of the persecution.

Practitioners carried truth-clarification materials and told athletes and visitors the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution initiated by Jiang Zemin out of his jealousy. One after another, people signed the petition and expressed their sympathy towards those orphans, and indignation towards the suppression. One visitor signed the petition and brought his friends and family members to sign the petition. Police officers assigned to patrol the event also supported the signature drive.

Kind Hearts See No Boundaries Between Nations or Races, and Justice Transcends Age and Religion

A foreign visitor signed the petition and took some postcards dedicated to the rescue effort. He said that he would bring the postcards for his friends so that they would also become aware of the plight of the orphans. He said that he would mail the postcards to President Bush and call for attention by the U.S. government. A lay-Buddhist expressed his support of this benevolent act. He took a stack of postcards and said that he would help more people to know about it and support the rescue effort.

A little girl came with her mother to attend the sports meeting. In front of the petition desk, a practitioner recounted the persecution facts to the girl's mother. After the mother signed the petition, the little girl said that she also wanted to sign the petition. The mother said, "You don't know how to write your name in Chinese, so you can't sign it." The girl resolutely said, "I can use pinyin to substitute the words that I can't spell." In the end, she used some Chinese characters and some pinyin to fill out the petition form.

Hualian Falun Dafa practitioners call upon everyone to uphold justice and conscience and work together to stop this ruthless persecution. Practitioners hope that people will pay attention to these Falun Gong children and help them to regain the happy life that they deserve.

Falun Dafa Practitioner Ms. Bi Daihong Died From Torture at Dalian Forced Labor Camp

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Bi Daihong from Dalian City, Liaoning Province was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor. She was brutally tortured at the labor camp and developed symptoms of late-stage ovarian cancer. She passed away soon after she was released from the labor camp.

Bi Daihong was born in 1968 and she worked at the Dalian City Ship Examination Bureau. She suffered from headaches and protruding spinal disc(s), but she became very healthy after she started practicing Dafa in 1996. When the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999, she went to Beijing many times to appeal and to clarify the truth. The perpetrators ransacked her home and extorted money from her. Her work unit illegally fired her and she lost her source of income.

In January 2003, Bi Daihong was reported when clarifying the truth. She was arrested by officers from Longwangtang Police Station in Lushun. The officers illegally held her there for one month without notifying her family. She was later sentenced to two years of forced labor and held at the Dalian Forced Labor Camp.

On her first day at the labor camp, Bi Daihong refused to take off her clothes and submit to a physical search. The guards ordered a group of eight inmates to strip her naked outside a men's restroom on the first floor. The eight inmates beat her until she was covered with wounds and bruises. Her ears and eyes were injured, and most of her face was black and blue. After striking her to the ground, inmate Zhao Hui violently kicked her mouth, which cut her lips and knocked her teeth loose. They later sent her to solitary confinement to further persecute her. Her legs were severely injured from torture and she was crippled. When her mother inquired about her legs, the labor camp authorities lied and claimed Bi Daihong was punished for hitting someone after refusing to submit to physical search.

Three months later, the superficial wounds were gone but Bi Daihong started to cough, and had fever and amenorrhea. She suffered from pain so severe that she often could not sleep at night. She became weary and emaciated. The guards ignored her condition and never allowed her to see a doctor. They ordered inmates to watch her around the clock and restrict her freedom. She was not allowed to go to the restroom even when she was incontinent. In addition, she was forced to do slave labor picking peas. She had to carry sacks of peas, each weighing between 50 kg [110 lbs] and 100 kg [242 lbs], up and down the stairs.

Inmate Lin Chunhong, who was assigned to watch Bi Daihong, extorted about 4,000 Yuan from Bi Daihong's parents, taking advantage of their anguish by lying to them that their money would speed up the release process.

When Bi Daihong's family met with her, they saw that she looked sickly. They strongly urged the labor camp authorities to take Bi Daihong to a hospital. The authorities reluctantly took Bi Daihong to have a check-up. The result came out the next day and the authorities immediately told her family to fill out paperwork for medical parole.

Bi Daihong was diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer. The labor camp authorities were afraid of taking responsibility should she die during medical treatment, so they pressed her family to follow the procedure for release from the labor camp. Bi Daihong was taken home and she passed away on September 1, 2005, about two months after the diagnosis.

Families of Practitioners in Guangxi Province Are Separated for Another Mid-Autumn Festival

(Clearwisdom.net) As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, in Guangxi Province the sweet osmanthus are blossoming and people are anticipating a reunion with their family members. For the local Falun Gong practitioners, however, even a visit with their loved ones has become very difficult under the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Four women practitioners from Beihai City bought moon-cakes to bring to their loved ones in prison.

It was 4:00 a.m. on September 11, 2005 (Sunday). In order to get back home the same day, the four of them rented a van instead of taking a bus. Three of them went to visit their husbands, and Tan Zezhen went to visit her son-in-law. Tan's daughter is also a Falun Dafa practitioner and is currently in another prison. Among the people they were going to visit, three are Falun Gong practitioners. It is a trip of several hours for them.

But when the van arrived at Wujia Township, Hepu County, a group of police officers stopped the van. Wei Yuguang, director of the Beihai City 610 Office, was in charge (Wei's office phone: 86-779-2091618). There were also dozens of plainclothes police officers. The driver was alarmed by the scene. A policeman twisted Ms. Tan's arms behind her back. When Ms. Tan rebuked them for acting like thugs, he said, "I am a thug, so what?"

The plainclothes police officers said that they had been waiting there since Saturday and were not allowed to sleep. They brought the four ladies to a police station. When the four asked why they were arrested, the officers said: "You have to report to us first wherever you go." After about one hour of interrogation and threats, the officers took the four women home in police cars. A simple visit to family members was ruined by the police.

It's hard to understand why the Beihai City "610 Office" mobilized so many officers just to block four innocent women. Much worse things, however, have been happening to practitioners in Beihai City in recent years.

Ms. Tan Zezhen's son-in-law is Lin Hongbin. Mr. Lin used to be the coordinator of the Beihai Falun Dafa Assistance Center. He was a military officer, but later transferred to civil work, and was living with his wife and son at the home of his in-laws at #11, 5 Xinjian Street, Beihai City, Guangxi Province.

Through practicing Falun Dafa, Lin enjoyed a happy family life. Since the persecution started on July 20, 1999, the family has suffered a lot. Lin, his wife Chen Xiao, and mother-in-law Tan Zezhen have been arrested many times. Chen Xiao's grandmother passed away due to the constant stress of threats and harassment by the police. Their home had been searched eight times. Mr. Lin's son was separated from his father when he was one year old, and separated from his mother when he was about two years old. Since July 20, 1999, the family has been able to stay together for about three months

Not long after July 1999, Lin Hongbin went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Dafa, and shared his experience with practitioners in Guangxi. He was sent to a forced labor camp, and so was Chen Xiao. Once when Chen Xiao did the Falun Gong exercises in the labor camp, she was placed in solitary confinement for ten days. After the confinement, she and one fellow practitioner named Zhang Xu, as well as a criminal inmate who was a drug addict, were forced to walk in the sports field for three days. Unable to endure the suffering, the drug addict ran to the third floor of a building and jumped down. Astonished by the event, police officers stopped the abuse. That incident is well known at the Guangxi Women's Forced Labor Camp.

While Chen Xiao was still in detention, her mother was taken to a forced labor camp for a one-year term. For refusing to give up her belief after one year, her term was extended for another year. During her two years of detention, Ms. Tan endured both verbal and physical abuse, but she never changed her will to practice Falun Dafa. In the last seven months of detention, she refused to answer the roll call to protest the illegal detention, and she was finally released.

After being released from the forced labor camp, Lin Hongbin and his wife had their son Rongrong. Right after Rongrong had his first birthday, and just two months after Ms. Tan was released, Lin was arrested for hanging up Falun Dafa banners and was sentenced to 6 years in prison. Now Lin is in Litang Prison, Guangxi Province.

When Mr. Lin was arrested, many police cars surrounded his home. He carried his son in his arms when he was arrested and handcuffed. He carried his son for a whole day while being interrogated and abused. The little baby had no food for a whole day and was picked up by family members in the evening.

One year later, Chen Xiao was arrested again for distributing truth-clarifying materials, and was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp. She was tortured and brainwashed in the Guangxi Women's Forced Labor Camp.

After being released, Ms. Tan was taken to a brainwashing center and then to a police station. The police threatened to send her to a forced labor camp for three more years. Due to the continuous distress and terror from the persecution, Ms. Tan's mother-in-law passed away a few days after her return from the police station. For the past several years, the grandmother saw that good people are not safe from the CCP's persecution and could not endure anymore at the age of 90.

Now Rongrong is four years old. Sometimes, he calls his grandpa and grandma "daddy" and "mommy." When corrected, he says, "Let's pretend that you are for now." The young boy clearly longs for a stable home environment.

Another one of the four ladies is Lai Yunhui. Ms Lai went to visit her husband Mo Chuanxiong. Mr. Mo was born in 1960, and was formerly employed by the Shatian Branch of the Hepu County Aquatic Products Company. He lives at No.2, Lianfeng Road, Lianzhou Town, Hepu County.

In 2000, Mr. Mo was forced to leave home to avoid the persecution after he distributed truth-clarifying materials. His wife Lai Yunhui and brother Mo Chuanhua were also arrested for being practitioners. During the interrogation, the police officers handcuffed her behind the back and lifted her up by her hair and turned her around repeatedly. In addition to that, they forced her to kneel down. Ms. Lai was sentenced to three years in prison, and Mo Chuanhua was sentenced to two and a half years.

In April 2002, officers from Hepu County police department arrested Mo Chuanxiong and sentenced him to four years in prison. Now Mo Chuanxiong is detained at the fourth brigade of the Litang Prison, Guangxi Province.

After the three major family members were all detained, Mo's family almost collapsed. Mo Chuanxiong and his brother Mo Chuanhua have six children all together, ranging from 2 to 12 years old. To support the family, Mo's elderly parents had to open a grocery store on the first floor of his house. During the Chinese New Year, a criminal stole the money box when Mo's father was selling goods. Once, a thief stole all the goods from the father's tricycle. At another time, Mo's father lost control of his tricycle while going uphill on the way back from purchasing goods. Mo's father fell down to the ground and suffered many bleeding injuries. One youngster told Mo's mother what happened, but she could not leave the shop, and asked the children to go and help Mo's father. During those years, most of Mo's property was stolen.

Unable to support the 6 children, Mo's mother took the children to a court and asked for help. Mo's mother said, " My son and daughter-in-law are good people, but they are detained. Police officers frequently knocked on the door at midnight to threaten all of us." The court clerks persuaded Mo's mother to take the children home, but did not offer any help.

After Lai Yunhui and Mo Chuanhua were released, the family's situation improved a little but they were still in hardship. Since the day of his arrest, Mo Chuanxiong denied committing any crime. In April, since he refused to have his blood drawn, he was knocked down to the ground by over 30 people and his blood was drawn by force. Mo Chuanxiong went on a hunger strike to protest. When Mo Chuanxiong's family went to visit, the prison guards refused them. Mo Chuanxiong's family got permission from the local "610 Office", but the police officer in charge of Mo Chuanxiong still would not allow a visit. Mo Chuanxiong's family asked the officers to show proof that he was still alive. Mo Chuanxiong was then carried out while being supported. From far away, Mo Chuanxiong's family members could see that his hands were dark and he could not walk by himself. The visit lasted only three minutes. Later, Mo Chuanxiong's family asked to bail him out for medical treatment, and tried to visit him several times, but were denied by the prison officers.

Currently, Mo Chuanxiong's situation is unknown. Mo Chuanxiong's father is 88 years old, and his mother is 75. This year, Mo Chuanxiong's oldest daughter was accepted by a university, but the family cannot afford the tuition. The entire family is worried for Mo Chuanxiong's safety. His wife wanted to visit him but was blocked on the way..

Here, we offer a piece of advice to the CCP officers: Do not persecute kind and good citizens for your personal gain. Wrongdoers will eventually meet with karmic retribution. This is a law of heaven!

Ms. Wang Xia Has Lost Her Memory after Being Imprisoned Again (Photos)

Ms. Wang Xia, born in 1974, was a resident in Linhe City, Inner Mongolia. Because she firmly cultivated Dafa, she has been subjected to arrest and detention numerous times since 1999. The last time she was arrested, she was sentenced to 7 years in prison. While being detained in the Inner Mongolia First Women's Prison, she was subjected to brutal torture. Moreover, she was once sent to a mental hospital to be further tortured, which caused her to lose her memory.

In November 1999, Wang Xia was sent to the Inner Mongolia Women's Labor Camp. She was the first Dafa practitioner in Inner Mongolia sent to a labor camp. She was detained there until August 2000, when she was about 8-9 months pregnant. In February 2002, she was arrested again and sent to Hohhot Detention Center. In March 2002, Wang Xia went on a hunger strike but after 29 days of hunger strike, she was sent home because the detention center did not want to be held responsible should she die there. However, they kept a close eye on her after she returned home. On the third day of her return, in order to avoid further harassment, she escaped by climbing over the wall of her yard, but her back and face were badly injured. After finding out she had run away, the police issued an arrest warrant and started to look for her everywhere. On May 21, 2002, she was captured in Baotou City, Inner Mongolia and sent to Baotou Detention Center. On May 23, Wang Xia began a hunger strike, for which she was beaten and brutally force-fed. On July 28, 2002, she was transferred to the Hohhot Detention Center, where she joined other detained practitioners in a group hunger strike. In August 2002, she was sentenced to 7 years in prison and sent to the Inner Mongolia First Women's Prison.

While in detention, Wang Xia started to hunger strike again. In December 2002, she was sent to the Second Hospital in Hohhot, where she was closely monitored by four inmates, including Li Xuemei, Liu Xiaojie, Gu Mo and Liu Xiaoyuan. Every day these people thought of more ways to torture her. The hospital did not pay any attention to her at all. Once while personally force-feeding Wang Xia, the hospital head had his whole body stained by the milk that came out of Wang Xia's mouth.

Wang Xia was beaten almost every day, adding new bruises to her body even before the old ones healed. The four people who monitored her used inhumane methods to torture her. For instance, they split the handle of a mop into two sticks and wrapped them up with some cloth. Then they used them to beat Wang Xia. What was even more horrific was that they thrust the mop handle into her vagina. Once, Wang Xia did not follow an order, so they grabbed her by the hair and dragged her downstairs from the third floor. They gave her a severe beating in the courtyard. Then they inserted safety pins into her fingernails and heated them with a cigarette lighter. At other times, they would tie her up while they played cards. During detention, the police also brought in her father, husband, and baby to come and pressure her into giving up cultivation. In the summer time, she was tied to a bed all day long, with a feeding tube inserted into her nose and she was unable to move at all.

On June 29, 2004, the police released her upon seeing that she was dying. They stopped beating her only two days before her release. When she was carried out, her head drooped and the bones in her body could be seen very clearly. Her nose still had the tube attached. At that time, she had already lost her memory.

Several people who monitored her said, "It's good she doesn't remember anything. Otherwise, she may reveal what we did to her to the outside world."

One week after Wang Xia returned home, her father called the prison telling them that she had survived. Then the police came to take her back to the prison again.

Now Wang Xia does not remember anything at all. While in the prison, she eats whatever is given to her. If no one gives her food, she does not know to ask for food.

What Is the Guangdong Law Education Center?

The Guangdong Law Education Center (formerly known as the Guangdong Law Education School) is really a brainwashing center. It is located next to the Guangdong Province Women's Forced Labor Camp in Sanshui District, Foshan City. This brainwashing facility is a large building complex next a lake that looks like a resort village from the outside. However, many Falun Gong practitioners are savagely tortured there. According to its staff, the central and provincial governments spent a huge sum of money to build the center to specifically persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The center is governed directly by the Guangdong Provincial 610 Office. The central government occasionally sends agents to the facility. The center's administrators maintain close ties with the 610 Offices throughout Guangdong Province, and persecution orders are issued from the center. The brainwashing center has two divisions.

When practitioners are arrested by the local 610 Office, some of them are forcibly brought to the lobby of the brainwashing center. Policemen from each division then take practitioners to their individual cells after going through several hallways and metal gates, where they feel oppressed with a sense of gloom. The lake below the center makes the air ice-cold.

Practitioners who are detained here have one or two people monitoring them all the time. The monitors live and eat with the practitioners. They normally have some relationship with either the policemen or the officials of the center. For example, policeman Lu Jinhu enabled his older brother and two cousins to obtain jobs there. His wife is the head of the first division.

The monitors attend the brainwashing sessions themselves, making them even more willing to help persecute practitioners. They record every word and action of the practitioners they monitor around the clock and report any infractions to the policemen on duty. The policemen then decide which persecution methods to use, and the monitoring staff helps the policemen with the persecution.

Practitioners who are detained here are forced to pay a fee for their stay. For some practitioners, the fees are paid by their local governments or their work units. Some local governments force practitioners' families to pay for the fee. The brainwashing classes last for three months and cost 3,000 yuan. The persecution methods include the following:

One or more policemen bombard individual practitioners with propaganda during brainwashing sessions. Sometimes they take practitioners out for a walk to the exercise room. This is to create a more relaxed environment to confuse practitioners and entice them to give up their practice.

The policemen force practitioners to watch videos that slander Falun Gong, sometimes repeatedly for long periods of time.

When practitioners are steadfast in their belief and "softer" measures do not work, the policemen use force. They force practitioners to stand, squat or sit on small stools for long periods of time. They show practitioners fabricated videos at high volumes. They verbally threaten practitioners. In winter, they turn on air conditioners and turn the thermostat to the coldest setting while forcing practitioners to wear very thin clothing.

Guards deprive practitioners of sleep, as they take turns preventing practitioners from sleeping 24 hours per day. They yell at practitioners and force them to stand, and they sometimes do not give practitioners anything to eat for one or two days. If practitioners close their eyes, they are sprayed with water, pinched on the arms and ears, pulled by the hair, hit on the head or brought into the restroom, where policemen pour water over them. According to the guards, these are the "rules" at the center.

When practitioners go on hunger strikes to protest the persecution, the facility doctor and policemen work together to force-feed and torture the practitioners.

Evil Conduct of Luxiang Town's Local Police Station in Shuangyang District, Changchun City

Since the persecution of Falun Gong started on July 20, 1999, Luxiang Town's local police station has persecuted Dafa disciples severely in Shuangyang District, Changchun City, Jilin Province. This police station's staff has constantly committed crimes against Falun Gong practitioners.

On December 26, 2000 according to the lunar calendar, the Luxiang town government illegally arrested Dafa disciples Wang Yalan, Hu Shufen, Dong Jing and some others and took them to a detention center, where they fined them 600 yuan each. The Dafa disciples who were not detained were illegally sent to a forced labor camp.

The practitioners were compelled to verbally attack Dafa and the Master. Anyone who failed to do so would be illegally detained. Some Dafa disciples had to leave home to escape the persecution. However, the Luxiang Police Station still arrested them all outside of town and sent them to a forced labor camp.

The town police frequently harass the Dafa disciples' families, ransack their homes, and arrest them at will. Thugs were hired to remain outside Dafa disciples' homes for a long period of time in order to monitor them. As a result, eleven Dafa practitioners were sent to a forced labor camp. Mr. Yu Zhanchun and his wife Hu Shufen were sentenced to forced labor three times and two times respectively. They were arrested almost immediately after they were released home. Out of the district, Luxiang town practitioners were fined the most frequently and the most in terms of amount. Moreover, no receipts were ever given to the fined practitioners.

After most of the public security police in Shuangyang District learned the facts about Dafa, they no longer actively participated in the persecution. However, the Luxiang Town police still followed the 610 Office to persecute Dafa disciples, showing no remorse at all. Since the beginning of the persecution, the Luxiang police have never displayed any valid documents when they ransacked Dafa disciples' homes or arrested Dafa disciples. They have never followed any legal procedures when they persecute Dafa disciples.

The Evil Deeds Committed by Female Police Officers at the Women's Labor Camp in Huhhot City

The following are some of the evil deeds that female police officers committed in 2002 and 2003 at the women's labor camp in Huhhot City, Inner Mongolia Province.

In May 2002, Dafa practitioner Zhang Yuhua from Chifeng City was illegally sentenced to one year in a labor camp. For the duration of her detention Ms. Zhang refused to cooperate with the authorities, maintaining her innocence. The guards hung her up with her hands and feet stretched in opposite directions. Then, in order to prevent Ms. Zhang from witnessing their evil deeds, they covered her head with a black cloth, also making it difficult for her to breathe. Eventually the bones on both of Zhang Yuhua's wrists became exposed from the prolonged hanging. In addition, there was no place on her body that was not affected by the electric shocks. She spent every single second in extreme pain. Zhang Yuhua's sentence was illegally extended by 7 months, and she was not released until just before the spring festival in 2003. She was only skin and bones when she was released. The policewomen that directly participated in the persecution of Ms. Zhang are Wang Dongyun (over 30 years old), Wu Jing (over 30 years old), and Wang Xiulan (over 40 years old). Policewoman Wang Dongyun was the one who was the most enthusiastic about persecuting the practitioners.

At the end of 2003, 57-year-old practitioner Duan Yuzhen from Huhhot City refused to write the "three guarantees" and was hung up with her hands and feet outstretched for 5 days and 5 nights. Her hands were completely numb from nerve damage after she was finally let down, and she could no longer take care of herself. Half a year later, her hands gained slight mobility. Under this condition the policewomen forced her to work. She had to sew 160 gloves a day. At that time, Duan Yuzhen's hands could not hold the tool and even could not hold a small spoon well. She had to endure extreme pain to bend each finger.

In November 2003, Zhu Xiaoying, 24-year-old nurse and a practitioner from Huhhot City, practitioner Wang Weihua from Chifeng City, and three other practitioners enlightened that it was not right to write the three guarantees, so they tore up the letters. They were all hung up by the policewomen Wang Dongyun, Wu Jing and Wang Xiulan. Due to the electric shocks, two thirds of their bodies were covered in blood blisters. The police especially shocked the genitals and the brain. It was extremely sinister. Up until April 2004, Zhu Xiaoying did not have any feeling in the nerves of her hands.

The policewomen forced the practitioners to work from 5:30 a.m. until midnight. The practitioners were forced to work for 16.5 hours every day without a break; they were forced to eat their meals in the workshop. The workshop is very filthy and greasy, with dirt, fuzz and dust covering everything. They had to make 3,400 glove pockets and knit 312 gloves a day, which represents a huge workload.

Four Falun Gong Practitioners from Liaoning, Hebei, and Heilongjiang Provinces Die from Persecution

1. Mr. Chen Jixiang was 46 years old and lived in Yongling Town of Xinbin Township, Fushun City, Liaoning Province. Mr. Chen's job was to fluff the cotton stuffing in quilts. Before Mr. Chen started practicing Falun Gong, he had various diseases. His abdomen hurt all the time and he had diarrhea 6-7 times a day. There was blood and pus in his stool. Though he visited many famous hospitals, he was never cured. Mr. Chen also had a very bad temper. The neighbors knew that he often beat his wife. He weighed about 108 pounds, smoked, drank and fought with his wife after drinking. Sometimes he would cry for no reason and his daughter was often afraid. His family lived a hard life.

Mr. Chen started practicing Falun Gong in July 1997. He then understood the principles of how to be a good person. He began living by those principles and became very healthy. He quit smoking and drinking and his family life became peaceful. He no longer sold used fluffed old cotton for the price of new cotton.

After the persecution against Falun Gong started, the police arrested Mr. Chen five different times and sent him to a brainwashing center once. Each time they tried to force him to renounce Falun Gong. In August 1999, Mr. Chen went to the local government and then to Beijing to validate the Fa. After he returned from Beijing, Director Zhang Rongqing of the Yongling Police Station sent him to a brainwashing center. Zhang also ordered Mr. Chen to be brought to the police station every day to clean the glass windows, remove weeds, wash quilts and process bed covers. Mr. Chen did not receive any pay for his work. The police station fined him 200 yuan before he was released.

On September 11, 1999, Zhang Rongqing and others from the Yongling Police Station again arrested Mr. Chen and placed him in a detention center. The prisoners there beat him until his face swelled up so much that he couldn't eat. The beating also injured his back. Under this severe torture, Mr. Chen compromised and paid 4,000 yuan to be released.

In August 2000, Guo Huawei and others from the Yongling Police Station arrested Mr. Chen for the third time and again put him in a detention center. Mr. Chen was awakened before dawn to cut wood and process ginseng. Mr. Chen finally succumbed to the persecution and wrote a guarantee statement never to practice Falun Gong again and paid a 3,000 yuan fine to be released.

In December 2000, Officer Wang Yongping and others from the Xinbin County Police Department broke into Mr. Chen's home to confiscate his property. The police confiscated an answering machine, an incense burner and 7000 yuan in cash. Once again, they took Mr. Chen to a detention center. This time Mr. Chen's family spent 3000 yuan on presents to bribe the police for his release.

Twenty days after Mr. Chen returned home and one day before the Chinese New Year, Guo Huawei and policemen from the Yongling Police Station came to arrest him again. He was imprisoned for more then 10 days. On February 1, 2001, the police put Mr. Chen in the Fushun City Brainwash Center. They forced Mr. Chen to "transform" again by torturing him. One month later, they extorted more than 10,000 yuan from him to gain his release.

In the fall of 2003, Officers Guo Huawei and Cao Sixin from the Yongling Police Station arrested Mr. Chen. They took him to Fushun City's Luotai mountain village to brainwash him.

After Mr. Chen was released from the Luotai mountain village brainwashing center, his eyes started to itch severely. A month later, the severe itching moved to his neck. Later, he felt uncomfortable in his chest, like his esophagus was being blocked. The hospital diagnosed it as uremia. Chen died on August 20, 2005.

Mr. Chen's daughter is in college now and his son is in high school. The whole family depended on him to bring in money.

2. Mr. Wang Tiliang, 66 years old, was a Falun Gong practitioner from the Fengrun District in Tangshan City, Hebei Province. Mr. Wang started to practice Falun Gong in 1996 and benefited from the practice. After the persecution started on July 20, 1999, Mr. Wang insisted on continuing the practice. The police station and his work place constantly harassed him. Someone reported him to the police when he was delivering truth clarification materials about Falun Gong. At about 12:10 p.m. on August 25, 2001, more than ten people from the district's police department and police station broke into his home and confiscated his property. The police tried to take the 67,000 yuan cash Mr. Wang had saved for his son's wedding and housing. Mr. Wang tried to stop them, but they arrested him and locked him in a detention center. He did not get any food for twenty days out of four months. Mr. Wang was as thin as a stick when his work place bailed him out. The police department still withheld 5,000 yuan from him. Mr. Wang was extremely traumatized and had difficulty eating. He died on August 25, 2005.

3. Ms. Zhang Guizhi, 72 years old, lived in the Fengrun District of Tangshan City in Hebei Province. Ms. Zhang started practicing Falun Gong in 1996 and was healthy from then on. After the persecution started on July 20, 1999, officials from the neighborhood administration office and the residential committee went to her home many times to confiscate her books, harass her and force her to write a guarantee statement to renounce Falun Gong. Ms. Zhang was easily intimidated to begin with and got even more scared from the constant persecution. She died on July 21, 2005, from fear caused by the persecution.

4. Ms. Liu Qianqian, 33 years old, was a Falun Gong practitioner from Shangzhi Town of Shangzhi City in Heilongjiang Province. In 2002, before the Dragon Boat Festival, Ms. Liu went to Hedong Township, Shangzhi City to sell vegetables and clarify the truth. Someone reported her. Later, officers from Shangzhi City's 610 Office arrested her. They secretly sentenced her to three years in prison and locked her up in the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison. While in the Women's Prison, she was forced to work beyond her physical ability every day and was subjected to brainwashing.

Ms. Liu weighed less than 50 lbs. when she was released and allowed go home. She weighed more than 90 lbs when she was arrested. Her skin was tightly wrapped against her skull and her veins showed. Her esophagus and stomach were infected. Her family paid over 5,000 yuan for treatment at a hospital. However, on August 6, 2005, just five days later, she died at the Jinzhou Hospital. The details are still under investigation.

Six Dafa Practitioners Die as a Result of Persecution

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Bao Fengjuan, 39, was from Beiyingzi Village of Daoerdeng Town, Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province. She had all sorts of illnesses before practicing Falun Gong, but all her physical problems disappeared not long after she started the practice. She went to Beijing to appeal to the authorities against the persecution of Falun Gong in 2000. She was arrested and detained at the Daoerdeng Police Station. Policemen grabbed her hair, violently pushed her, and struck her head against a concrete wall many times, causing severe head injuries. Her speech was incomprehensible from that time on. She never recovered, even after she was sent home, and she couldn't live a normal life. She was unable to tell day from night, unable to look after herself, and often ran away from home for days for no reason. She passed away on August 19, 2005.

Mr. Zhang Qingfeng, 69, was from Sandaoliangzi Village of Daoerdeng Town, Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province. He used to suffer from terminal lung cancer. He began practicing Falun Dafa in 1997 and by the end of 1998, his lung cancer completely disappeared and he was able to live and work as a normal person. After the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners began on July 22, 1999, Mr. Zhang was harassed day and night. He was forced to write the Three Statements and give his fingerprints. He was badly hurt mentally and physically. As he was unable to practice Falun Gong again, his lung cancer came back and he died that same year.

Ms. Li Suying, 74, was from Nangongyingzi Town, Kezuo County, Liaoning Province. Local policemen frequently ransacked her home, making her extremely upset. Her physical health deteriorated quickly. Under continuous intimidation and harassment, she passed away on July 19, 2005.

Ms. Xu Meijing, 67, from Meilong Village, Xuhui District, Shanghai City, used to suffer from severe diabetes before she began practicing Falun Gong. Her diabetes disappeared completely after she began practicing. During 2000, policemen arrested her while she was validating Dafa with other practitioners. She was then sentenced to a four-year imprisonment. When she was released, she continued to clarify the facts to people. She died at home on June 2, 2005.

Ms. Li Shurong, 60, was from Tangshan City, Hebei Province. She and her two daughters practiced Falun Gong. The two daughters were arrested and detained numerous times by the local town and county 's 610 Office. Ms. Li herself was also harassed and intimidated by the local 610 Office, and she was under unimaginable pressure. She passed away in December 2004.

Ms. Wang Hulian, 68, was from Baishuzhuang Village of Laozhuangzi Town, Fengrun County, Tangshan City, Hebei Province. She began practicing Falun Gong in August 1996. All of her physical diseases disappeared shortly after she began practicing. After the persecution began, she was under great pressure and extremely anxious. She died in March 2001.

Dr. Qi Xufang from the Weihai City Health and Epidemic Prevention Station Dies as a Result of Persecution

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Qi Xufang, 61, was a physician at the Weihai City Health and Epidemic Prevention Station in Shandong Province. She retired in 2000, and lived in Xinghua Village, Huancui District, Weihai City, Shandong Province. She benefited immensely after she began practicing Falun Dafa in 1997. Her work unit pressured her to quit the practice many times after the persecution began on July 20, 1999. She was reported to the local authorities when she was clarifying the truth to people at an early-morning farm market in November 2002. The police from Huancui District Police Station illegally arrested her and detained her in the Weihai City Detention Center for over twenty days. Later they sent her to the Wangcun Brainwashing Center in Zibo City, Shandong Province, and detained her there for over one month. She was severely persecuted and forced to give up practicing Falun Gong. She suffered both physically and mentally.

Ms. Qi Xufang resumed her practice and study of Falun Dafa after she was released. Police officers Liu Jie and Liu Jinhu from the 610 Office of Huancui District Police Department often came to harass her in various ways. A plainclothes police officer reported her when she was clarifying the truth to people on May 23, 2004. Liu Jie led a few policemen to illegally ransack her home the following day. Facing huge pressure, her family members did not allow her to go out or contact any Falun Dafa practitioners. She suffered severely both mentally and in her daily life. She developed stomach cancer and died on August 23, 2005.

An Indomitable Spirit Resists Persecution and Torture, and Persists in Clarifying the Truth

I. Encountering Falun Dafa and "Obtaining the Fa"

In early 1998, I went to visit my parents, who were always prone to sickness. I went to their workplace to see them. I entered their room and found my father with a happy smile and looking very healthy. He had been ill for many years. I asked, "Dad, what restored your health? Did you take some elixir?" My father answered, "I have obtained the Fa." I asked, "What Fa? May I have a chance to read the Fa?"

My father said, "Certainly. Here is the heavenly book, Zhuan Falun." I asked, "Is this the Qigong you were practicing before?" My father said, "No! This is Falun Gong."

I opened the book to read Lunyu and finished reading it in one breath. I spent a few days reading through Zhuan Falun. I said, "Dad, I spent forty years of my life on nothing meaningful. I didn't know who I was or what the meaning of my life was. Now Master has explained all of this to me. I am determined to cultivate Dafa diligently, follow Teacher and return to my true home."

From then on, I was actively involved in spreading Dafa, studying the Fa and doing the exercises at our local practice site. One day I had a free afternoon at work. I made the best use of my time by studying the Fa. I laid my head on the desk and took a short break when I was tired. I entered the state of tranquility and saw countless Faluns spinning like electric fans in another dimension. I thought Teacher was encouraging me with scenes in other dimensions. I was very moved. I didn't even dare to move a little bit. I was afraid the scene in front of me would disappear if I moved.

II. I am a Fa-rectification Disciple Living Here in the Human Realm

In early 2000, I was held at a detention center with a fellow practitioner. Staff from the 610 Office had Ruan Chang'an, a Longchang County Dafa coordinator who had been "transformed", write to us. I read the letter and rejected his words. The 610 Office staff then sought to have my husband come and persuade me. I told them about the fundamental principles a human being should follow. Once, the 610 Office staff and my husband tried to transform me in a joint effort. As soon as I entered the visiting room of the detention center, my husband punched me in the face without a word. His job is doing basic repairs and the labor is physically demanding. He is very strong. The heavy blow caused blood to burst forth from my nose immediately.

The 610 Office staff changed their tactics upon seeing that physical means would not move me. Two days later, my husband came to visit me again. He knelt down as soon as he saw me. He begged, "I will never beat you again. Please come home with me." I laughed and responded, "You may remain kneeling as long as you wish. In the past, I would not have been able to handle this situation. Now I can." He stood up, knowing it was no use.

One day my fellow practitioner, who was being detained in the same cell as me, told me she wrote a repentance statement. She did so because she wanted to get out of the detention center. I asked, "You obtained the Fa earlier than I did. What does Dafa require of us? As a practitioner, what should be done and what cannot be done? Isn't it obvious? If you write a repentance statement, who are you being responsible to?" She remained silent.

During my detention, I clarified the truth to other detainees. They all learned that Dafa is good. They studied the Fa and practiced the exercises with me.

III. Validating Dafa with My Own Conduct

I clarified the truth to people in all kinds of environments. The 610 Office staff sent me to a mental hospital. Their purpose was two-fold. One was to torture me, and the other was to isolate me from others. They were also afraid I might go to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Dafa. Doctor Wang Youfang at the mental hospital collaborated with the 610 Office staff. She knew I was mentally healthy, but she insisted on saying that I had schizophrenia. She would tell others that I had schizophrenia when I tried to talk to them. She would say I had melancholia when I recited Teacher's articles silently.

In the mental hospital, I did cleaning, helped patients take baths, washed their clothes and fed them their meals. One day, when I was feeding a patient, she suddenly knocked me down and tore my clothes. She beat me with her fists until the doctors hurried over and dragged her away. They found I was still holding her meal bowls tightly so that they would not spill. Very soon, the doctors and nurses changed their opinion of me. Sometimes, they listened while I clarified the truth to them and the patients.

On May 1, Labor Day in China, my father came to visit me. At noon, we were talking when we heard someone yell for help. I found a patient who had hung herself with pants tied to the metal frame of a window. Her face had already turned very red. I immediately laid her down on the floor and began mouth to mouth. I didn't stop until she began to breathe. After emergency treatment, she was okay. Since then, the patients in the mental hospital treat me even better. They all know I am a good person. I thus validated Dafa with my own conduct.

IV. One Righteous Thought Subdues a Hundred Evils

When the evil authorities still failed to change our righteous beliefs, they were so desperate that they would do anything. They wrote down Teacher's teachings on a blackboard and let Yao Jianhua interpret the teachings with her warped understanding. We were required to use her logic in a speech. They called this method, "using the Fa to do away with the Fa." Practitioners Peng Shiqiong, Liu Fengxia, Liu Zongying, Wang Huiying, Zhu Yaohui and I took this rare opportunity to tell them our cultivation stories.

Liu Fengxia recited Teacher's lecture at the 2002 Washington DC Fa conference. It was very encouraging. Practitioners who had gone astray restrained themselves when we were present.

Liu Fengxia is a woman from the countryside. She rode a bike to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. She rode several thousand miles and endured many hardships along the way. On her way to Beijing, she clarified the truth to many people.

Liu Zongli told others, "I am illiterate, so I am not good at sharing the principles. I only know Teacher is great and Dafa is great. I will never betray Teacher or Dafa."

Wang Huiying shared how she remained unperturbed in the face of conflicts based in "qing". Once her son came to visit and said that her refusal to give up practicing Falun Dafa in the forced labor camp was the reason all her daughters-in-law filed for divorce and left the family. Her sons lost their jobs in a government department because she was firm about practicing. Wang Huiying, out of her benevolence, understood their feelings. However, she was not swayed by qing. She explained the principles and her reasoning to them.

V. Righteous Thoughts Demonstrate Divine Power

On January 10, 2002, I was transferred to the police station of the Gaosishan Oil & Construction Corporation in Neijiang City from the Women's Forced Labor Camp of Sichuan Province. The persons in charge of Falun Gong practitioners interrogated me.

One of them asked, "What's your name?" I replied, "What are you trying to do?" He said, "We are going to keep a record and establish an archive. We will monitor your conduct and you must cooperate with us." I replied, "Great. Write down what you will do to me on a piece of paper, then stamp it with the official seal and sign your name. I'll see you in court. Do write down these words and do not deny them when I meet you in front of a judge. Spoken words do not count and you guys always tell lies. So write down all the actions you are going to take against me on paper." He went out of the room to check with his supervisors. In a short while, he came back and he didn't mention another word about records.

I took advantage of the opportunity to clarify the truth to them. I told them that they should live for the truth and that they should distinguish between good and bad. He replied, "I don't care about truth. I serve whoever pays me." I then told them about the evil persecution imposed on Falun Dafa by the CCP. I said, "Jiang Zemin persecutes Falun Gong. He is doomed." He was frightened and didn't say anything. He asked me to go home immediately.

Once when I was detained in the mental hospital, county 610 Office staff and a cadre came to interrogate me. The director of the county 610 Office, Ye Lin, talked to me in a threatening manner. "We are here today to target your problems specifically. You must cooperate with us." I laughed and replied, "This is so weird. The police station and 610 Office sent me to a mental hospital. The doctors regard me as a mental patient. They give me injections and force me to take drugs against my will. Now you want to interrogate me, which means you regard me as a criminal. However, you cannot send me to a prison even though you consider me a criminal, because I didn't commit any crime. If you consider me a mental patient, then there's no such a thing as interrogating a mental patient. A mental patient cannot bear legal responsibility for his conduct. Or, it could well be that you two are mental patients, which explains why you aren't using logic and conduct yourself in a crazy way." He was left speechless and rushed to end the interrogation.

On June 15, when the staff from the Longchang County 610 Office and the Longchang County CCP Committee came to take me back to my hometown, I told them the above story. I said, "Is our government being responsible for anyone? I, an innocent person, was incarcerated in the mental hospital three times, held in a detention center twice, transferred to the center twice, and sent to forced labor camp twice. The authorities have persecuted me for almost six years. The government didn't investigate my case until I was tortured, persecuted, homeless and left without a single penny." "Shouldn't you think it over?"

The cadre from the 610 Office replied, "You have been detained for three years. You don't know that the Falun Gong followers now openly act against the CCP and the government." I explained, "We are only fighting for basic human rights and for a peaceful cultivation environment. We only want to be a good people. Does that constitute a crime? As an innocent person, I was incarcerated for six years. How do you justify that?" They were left speechless and didn't dare say one more word.

Falun Dafa Saved My Cousin's Life When She Was on the Verge of Death

I was persecuted for cultivating Falun Dafa. I was forced to become homeless and went to the home of one of my cousins in the countryside.

On July 8, 2005, while I was staying in my cousin's home, another cousin's husband called. He said that his wife, my cousin, suffered a severe hemorrhage in the brain and was hospitalized. We hurried to the county hospital. It was already noon, and my cousin was unconscious. The CT scan showed that she had cerebral bleeding. The doctor warned my cousin's husband to be prepared for the worst. Since the bleeding could not be stopped by surgery and the bleeding was heavy, the prognosis was poor. By that time, all her family members had arrived at the hospital.

I had been a nurse for over 20 years, and I knew that my cousin was on the verge of death. I went over to her bed and whispered to her, "Sister, if you genuinely remember that Falun Dafa is great, it can save your life. Please answer me if you hear me." She heard me and answered. Everyone present also heard her. At around 4 p.m., she seemed to regain consciousness. In the evening, she had digestive tract bleeding and spat up blood twice. The next morning, she was fully conscious. Doctors checked and found that her arms and legs and her grasping ability seemed normal. Her speech and swallowing ability also seemed to be normal. In addition to that, she retained her short and medium term memory. Twenty days later, she walked out of the hospital by herself from the third floor. Everyone was surprised by her recovery.

When my cousin recalled her experience in the coma, she remembered that she was on a road. There was only she and I. She lay on the road. I knelt down on the ground and asked her to remember, "Falun Dafa is great." She said she promised to remember it. She had no other recollections. My cousin then realized that it was Falun Dafa that had saved her life. All of her family members are very grateful to Falun Dafa.

A Political Science Professor in Taiwan Discovers Falun Gong (Photo)

(Clearwisdom.net) Professor Ming Chu-Cheng says that when he was young, he was in very good health and in better shape than most people his age. He could run faster, jump higher and was stronger than many of his peers. When he was in military service, he was pretty good at playing basketball and was once promoted to be a team member at the corps level in the army. However, as his academic career got busier later on, he became more and more occupied by his daily work. As soon as he completed his Ph. D. in political science from Notre Dame University in the U.S., he returned to the University of Taiwan as a lecturer in the Department of Political Science. Meanwhile he worked on a part-time basis for four other Non-Government Organizations, and every organization required a lot of work. He was assigned an office, assistants, a car and a driver by each of the organizations. Professor Ming later became the Dean of the Department of Political Science of the University of Taiwan, and his added administrative duties made his life even busier.

With the gradual increase in his workload and age, Professor Ming began to feel a decline in his health.. From his thirties to his forties, his health went from bad to worse, and more physical problems began to emerge. First, he found it very difficult to sleep and easily got tired. When he went to bed at night, he simply couldn't sleep and his mind was full of things about his work, and he couldn't relax his active mind. Secondly, he developed a pain on the right side of his lower abdomen, and the color of his urine turned very yellow and often had blood in it. His poor physical condition also had an impact on his emotional state. From time to time he found himself arguing with his wife over trivial matters, and he lost his temper easily. Their relationship also became difficult.

Experiencing Enormous Benefit

Professor Ming smiles when he says that he started to practice Falun Gong initially because of his wife's poor health. They were looking for ways to improve her health. In the end, through their friend's recommendation and introduction, he finally decided to practice Falun Gong. From the healthy look and rosy cheeks of his wife who was standing by him, I can tell she must be in very good health now.

Professor Ming continued:" I took up the exercise together with my wife. Within a year or so, my benefit from it was huge. My sleeplessness disappeared, and now it takes less than 10 minutes before I can be in sound sleep. My mental state is naturally better as a result. The pain on my right side of the lower abdomen is gone and so is the occurrence of blood in my urine. What is more, all these wonderful things happened naturally without any mental striving, just like what is stated in the main book of Falun Gong Zhuan Falun: 'Attaining naturally without pursuit.'

"At the same time, I no longer quarrel with my wife, as we are both practitioners now. So whenever we are at odds with each other, we are able to recognize our own faults and therefore able to step back and think of the other person first. Thus, our relationship is stronger and each of us is able to better care for the other person. Furthermore, since becoming a practitioner, I am able to clearly sort out the things I have to do efficiently despite the fact that I still have a heavy workload."

It is Wrong to Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners

Professor Ming stated that what Falun Gong emphasizes is the upgrading of one's xinxing level. It has no organization, no religious rituals and nobody is obliged to join. Anyone can come in at any time and leave it any time. Furthermore, before the persecution in China, Falun Gong practitioners, after any large-scale exercises, would pick up garbage on the ground before leaving quietly. Jiang Zemin, however, thought that Falun Gong must have a very tight organizational structure and that it would be difficult for them to control. Besides, Jiang and others in the CCP wrongly assumed that Falun Gong was challenging the Communist Party for the masses because the CCP, in its 50 year history, had only managed to attract over 60 million members, while Falun Gong within just a few years had attracted more than 100 million people. Therefore, the totalitarian Communist regime couldn't tolerate the fact that so many people chose to follow "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" and decided to use its entire state machinery to exert its brutal control.

Professor Ming shared two points of his observation: First, Falun Gong is very righteous. Second, Falun Gong is magnificent. Professor Ming quoted from the official Communist statistics before the persecution regarding Falun Gong's high efficacy in curing diseases. The official Chinese statistics reported that out of 34,351 Falun Gong practitioners, 98% had their illnesses improved or completely cured. This is very surprising indeed. From his field of study, the political behavior of the Chinese Communist regime, Professor Ming, also analyzed the reasons why Jiang Zemin launched the persecution against Falun Gong. His conclusion is that this individual's greed for power and desire to maintain his power had made him unstable and that he would regard any organization, religion or belief as a threat to his power.

Last but not least, Professor Ming hopes that everyone will try his recommendation to practice Falun Gong. It is, according to Professor Ming, "the best treatment in life," as it can also help one to become a good person.

At the hospital, she was put in handcuffs and shackles and locked to a patient bed. For 100 days since her arrest, until she was released, she was on a hunger strike. However, the police still monitor her movements around the building where she lives with the excuse that she was bailed out awaiting trial.

On July 28, 2005, the police arrested practitioner Qin Yingchang and confiscated Qin's notebook computer. According to an insider, Qin was brutally tortured in the Qian County Detention Center. On August 13, 2005, practitioners Zhang Huaming and Du Guomei from Sanjiang Town, Qijiang County, Chongqing were arrested for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. The police ransacked their home that same day.

5. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Guan Zhiyong Stages a Hunger Strike to Protest the Persecution in the Zhangshi Brainwashing Center

On August 26, 2005, in collusion with officers from practitioner Mr. Guan Zhiyong's place of work, the Dadong District "610 Office" from Shenyang City arrested him. They took him to the Shenyang City Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp's Brainwashing Center and ransacked his home. Mr. Guan went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. He is extremely weak. It was heard that this is the second time that officials from his workplace put him in the Zhangshi Brainwashing Center.

6. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Ms. Xu Changhong Arrested and Home Ransacked

During the night of September 7, 2005, seven officers including Pi Jian from the Xianning City No.1 Bridge Police Station arrested practitioner Ms. Xu Changhong. She is an employee of the Chinese Traditional Medicine Pharmacy in Xianning City Central Hospital, Hubei Province. The arrest happened during her working hours. They found the key to Ms. Xu's home when searching her. Afterwards they ransacked her home and confiscated her computer and Falun Dafa books.

On April 26, 2005, Feng Fengyou, head of Doumen District "610 Office," led some people to the Hengshan Elementary School, arrested teacher Ms. Liang Qunhao and sent her to the Sanshui Brainwashing Center. Her colleagues told her that during the past four months, the district "610 Office" ordered the Elementary School to pay fines of 15,000 Yuan.

8. [Botou City, Hebei Province] The Police from Huanghua City Arrest Two Practitioners for Distributing Falun Dafa Truth-Clarifying Materials

On August 2, 2005, practitioner Ms. Yin Xiuying and Zhang Xiong from Hezhuangzi Village, Wenmiao Town, Botou City, Hebei Province rented a mini van to deliver hardware to Huanghua City. On their way, they distributed some Falun Dafa truth-clarifying materials to passengers. The police from Huanghua City arrested them and put them in the City Detention Center.

9. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] The Couple, Mr. Yuan Chunfei and Ms. Jin Meichun, Arrested and Taken to a Brainwashing Center

On September 6, 2005, the practitioner couple Mr. Yuan Chunfei and Ms. Jin Meichun, about 46 years old, from the Yinlong Community in Shijiazhuang City, were arrested and forcibly sent to the Hebei Provincial Capital Brainwashing Center. Their young child has been left at home without care.

10. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Xiurong Arrested for Clarifying the Truth about Falun Dafa

At 9:00 p.m. on September 14, 2005, four officers from the Yongding Road Police Station in the Haidian District Police Department arrested practitioner Ms. Wang Xiurong at her home in Jiaojiafen Area, Shijingshan District, Beijing. The police also ransacked her home.

11. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Zhang Gaicui Arrested for Distributing Falun Dafa Truth-Clarifying Materials

Practitioner Ms. Zhang Gaicui, around 60 years old, lives in Group 2, Rujiazhuang Village, Shennong Town, Weibin District, Baoji City. During the morning on September 14, 2005, she distributed Falun Dafa truth-clarifying materials. Personnel from the Baoji City Police Department, from the Weibin District "610 Office" and from the Qingjiang Police Station arrested her and put her in the Lingyun Hotel affiliated with the city's Lingyun Company. Police not only tortured Ms. Zhang, but also threatened her and extorted 100 Yuan a day from her family. They also threatened her family by withholding her whole family's basic living welfare payments.

12. [Chongqing] The Police Trick and Arrest Ms. Zhao Xiaoqun

In early September 2005, personnel from the Xiejiawan Police Station duped practitioner Ms. Zhao Xiaoqun, a retired employee of the Construction Group in Xiejiawan Cultural Village, Jiulongpo District, Chongqing. They had her come to the local police station with the ruse of issuing a new citizen's identification card for her. Then they arrested her and put her into the district's Baihe Village Brainwashing Center.

All fellow practitioners who get this message: please support Ms. Zhao's righteous thoughts and righteous actions and help her walk out of there as soon as possible.

13. [Shanghai] "610 Office" Personnel Trick Mr. Zhang Tianlun and Send Him to Be Brainwashed

On August 4, 2005, "610 Office" personnel told practitioner Mr. Zhang Tianlun who lives in Huangpu District, Shanghai that they wanted "to have a talk outside." They then put him in the Qingpu Brainwashing Center. Nobody knows his current whereabouts. His family went to request his release many times but their request was refused. Their visits have also been denied.

14. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Three Practitioners Arrested When Distributing Falun Dafa Truth-Clarifying Materials

From 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on September 15, 2005, the police arrested practitioners Luo Ji, Ms. Chen Yuping and Ms. Chen Xiaoxia when the practitioners were distributing Falun Dafa truth-clarifying materials on Xiagang Street. Luo Ji was held at the National Security Teamof the Maoxi Branch Police Station affiliated with the Maoming City Police Department. Luo's home was ransacked and some Falun Dafa truth-clarifying materials, CDs and audiotapes were confiscated. Ms. Chen Yuping was held at the Maoming City Brainwashing Center. Ms. Chen Xiaoxia's current situation is unknown.

15. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Harbin Prison Authorities Transferred All Dafa Practitioners to Another Prison

The CCP government issued an urgent notice to the Harbin Prison at 5:00 a.m. on July 1, 2004, and ordered all Dafa practitioners held there to be transferred to another prison. The practitioners were completely caught off guard. They were put in a vehicle at 6:30 a.m. and taken to the Tailai Prison, after a whole day of driving. The next day, they were forced to do slave labor. On the sixth day after the transfer, the guards told the practitioners, "We held a three-day meeting to discuss the persecution of Falun Gong. We are assigned quotas to "reform" Falun Gong practitioners. If the practitioners don't write "guarantee statements", we'll be fired and we'll have to turn in our uniforms."

They shackled Falun Gong practitioners and tied steel bars on their feet. They didn't allow the practitioners to sleep at night and hung them up, with their feet barely touching the ground. Falun Gong practitioner Qiu Jianbin refused to cooperate with the perpetrators; group political head Zhang Weijia forced him to stand and shackled him. The perpetrators took turns beating him, and they hung him up at night. He went on a hunger strike and was force-fed six times. He was savagely beaten whenever he did the Falun Gong exercises. He is now skin and bones and is on the verge of death.

16. [Ningxia Autonomous Region] Practitioner Cui Wei Arrested and Sent to a "610 Office" Brainwashing Center

On the afternoon of September 15, 2005, officers from the local police department arrested Falun Gong practitioner Cui Wei, an employee of the China Bank in Yongning County and sent Cui to a brainwashing center held by the "610 Office." Yang Guozhi is Cui Wei's colleague and assisted the police in the arrest. It has been learned that the Ningxia "610 Office" recently held a brainwashing session as the national holiday is approaching.

17. [Zhucheng City, Shandong Province] The Police Arrest Elementary School Teacher, Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Cui Aixiu

At around 10:00 a.m. on September 5, 2005, two officers from the Zhucheng City Police Department went to the Baichihe Town Central Elementary School and arrested Ms. Cui Aixiu, a teacher and a Falun Gong practitioner. They took several truth clarification flyers and VCDs from Ms. Cui's office drawers and her home. She is currently being held at the Zhucheng City Detention Center.

18. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Practitioner Ms. Ma Binjuan Held Beyond Her Term at the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison

Practitioner Ms. Ma Binjuan, 50 years old, lived in the Nangang District, Harbin City, in Heilongjiang Province. In the summer of 2002, the officers from the Nangang District Post Police Department ransacked her home and arrested her. She was later sentenced to three years in prison. She has been held at the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison beyond her term. The perpetrators refuse to release her.

19. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Practitioner Mr. Fu Deqing Arrested When Distributing Truth Clarification Materials and Sent to a Brainwashing Center

Recently, practitioner Mr. Fu Deqing, a retired employee from the Shengli Oilfield Electric Power Company Automobile Management Center in Dongying City, Shandong Province was arrested when distributing truth clarification materials. He was sent to the Shengli Oilfield Supply Division Brainwashing Center and has been held there for one week.

20. [Tieling City, Liaoning Province] Practitioners Mr. Guo Lianyang and Mr. Liu Zhenguo Sentenced to Three Years of Forced Labor

In 2002, practitioners Mr. Guo Lianyang and Mr. Liu Zhenguo were at home in Xiaohongshi Village, Pingdingbu Town, Tieling City, Liaoning Province, when several officers from the Pingdingbu Police Department arrived and asked whether they would continue to practice Falun Gong. They said, "Yes." The police arrested them and sent them to the Tieling Forced Labor Camp. They were sentenced to three years of forced labor. Mr. Guo escaped with the power of righteous thoughts during a work session at the labor camp, but he was compelled to go into exile to avoid recapture. He returned home during the Chinese New Year and the police arrested him again. He was released after they extorted 5,000 Yuan from him.

Mr. Liu Zhenguo was sent to the Huangjintun Forced Labor Camp. He was a little slow when eating lunch, so the guards knocked out his front teeth. Pressured by the guards, he reluctantly wrote a guarantee statement and was released in July or August 2004. In early 2005, after he went home, the head of the local police department went to his home and said to him, "Don't go anywhere; just practice [Falun Gong] at home." At 6:00 p.m. on February 2, 2005, several officers from the Pingdingbu Police Department saw five practitioners doing the exercises. They phoned the Tieling County Police Department, which dispatched several officers who went to Mr. Guo's home and arrested five people: Ms. Xu Yajie, Ms. Song Lianzhi, Ms. Liu Ying, Mr. Guo Lianyang and Mr. Liu Zhenguo. The officers found Dafa books and materials. They took the five people to the Pingdingbu Police Department and sent them to the Babaoling Custody Center in Tieling County overnight. Ms. Liu Ying was returning from her boyfriend's home but the police lied and said she left town to distribute truth clarification materials.

At the custody center, the police interrogated Mr. Guo and asked about the source of the Dafa materials. The police savagely beat him and shocked him with electric batons until the batons broke. Mr. Guo could not walk afterwards. They extorted 5,000 Yuan from each of three female practitioners. They were then released several days after writing guarantee statements. Mr. Guo and Liu Zhenguo were sentenced to three years of forced labor and are currently being held at the Lingdong Forced Labor Camp.

21. [Diaobingshan City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Mr. Yu Xuewen Sentenced to One Year of Forced Labor

At 7:30 a.m. on January 7, 2005, practitioner Mr. Yu Xuewen from the Hongfang area in Diaobingshan City, Liaoning Province passed by the Hongfang Police Department on his way to work and Sun Guanghui, the head of the police department, the deputy head and a group of officers arrested him. The police claimed they were following orders from Zhang Fucai, head of the National Security Division; yet Zhang Fucai claimed the arrest order came from Zhang Mingyuan, head of the Tiemei Corporation. Mr. Yu was sent to Tieling Forced Labor Camp without any due process and was to be held for one year. The authorities did not notice his family or his employer.
